post qt snek
Dude just use a mod that disables it sheeesh. Is this a board for complaints!?
>Alright, we added this nifty stealth mechanic so that people could engage the aliens with an advantage and approach the mission in a different way
>Now let's make all of those missions done within a certain amount of turns in which each turn is done perfectly or else it fails. Better start running blindly into the objective without getting caught, soldier.
>PC gamers claim they're hardcore gamers
>Can't even handle a time limit
the terms "casual" and "git gud" is toxic language that needs to be wiped clean from the gaming community
>consoles claim they are a hardcore system
>can't even handle stable 30fps
it's not even that. the game feels too formulaic now, to the point where i can't even have fun with it. you gotta kill the pods on the same turn as the activation or you're dead. I put in over 300 hours into EU/EW/LW and loved the ups and downs of it, but I just can't get with this one. it more often feels like a chore than something fun
Fuck you Jake!
>xcom:eu
>get btfo'd on first alien in enemy turn
>have to watch the rest of aliens take turns raping me and then watch my soldiers panic before I can enter menu
Is this shit still in xcom 2?
They should have just had the timer for specific bonus objectives. Complete X in this many turns to do this, instead of complete X in this many turns to not get blown to shit.
its that times 2
No. It's been a little bit since I've played, but I'm almost 100% sure you can pause it at any point in the gameplay.
That is a true problem, timers have nothing to do with it though.
Concealment makes ambushing pods too easy so they gave you timers to force you to engage them kn your turn.
XCOM soldiers are wayyy overpowered so some of the ayys are given retard strong strikes. This results in a binary kill or be killed gameplay that makes it boring for good players and unfair for shitters
I barely even notice the timer anymore. Unless you're literally only moving within your blue squares the entire first half of the mission you shouldn't have that much trouble.
>wow why would you introduce a mechanic that makes me manage my turn economy when the stealth mechanic's only logical counter is how long it takes to scout enemy positions and place soldiers optimally
the timer is the only thing that add's difficulty to the game
once you make it past the RNG bullshit that is the early game the game becomes way to fucking easy, and then even easier when you get Psi Soldiers
The timer is the dumbest decision ever.
Maybe consoleshits can swallow bad game design, but I don't. The problem isn't the time limit, the problem is that the time limit starts when you begin the level, which makes the stealth mechanic completely pointless since you are forced to play normally.
did somebody say snek?
WHAT THE FUCK STOPS YOU FROM USING THE MODS THAT DISABLE TURN LIMITS?
OR THE MODS THAT MORE TURNS?!
Fucking rookies.
>in the wrong elevation selection
>right click behind a bench
>solider climbs up the roof and next to an alien instead
They really need to add a reverse or undo feature.
t. shitter who doesn't have any understanding of the nuances of the gameplay
The non-timer missions like story missions and avatar sites are the easiest ones in the game, I wonder why. Could it be that giving players perfect knowledge of enemy positions and being able to position yourself in perfect spots before engaging makes the game dull as hell?
But you wouldn't understand that, would ya? You just looked at the timer and went WAHH I HAVE TO MOVE WAHH and dashed blindly without any strategy and got BTFO?
Timers are bad, but they're better than the alternative. If you remove tiners you have to rework the entire game while at it, like Guerilla War does.
the only time the timer is remotely stressful is during the VIP missions
But EU/W wasn't about protracted battles either, it had the same alpha strike focus. It's just the way the Firaxis games are.
>bringing up skill in a game this RNG heavy
It's just another hack game like Darkest Dungeon which puts unfavorable RNG that makes casuals feel like they're playing a hard game but it doesn't actually require skill so they can still beat it.
>he doesn't play the superior TBS
lmao x-cucks never cease to amaze
Randy is that you?
>turn based strategy isn't about tactics, thinking ahead and positioning yourself
neo-Sup Forums everyone
You have become a nu-male
I hope you have fun with your memes and kooky friends you 20 white something
I do Classic Ironman all the time and while I will lose men. I always end up wining in the end. Just get good my man. Impossible Ironman is another story however
XCOM isn't about rng though. If you play correctly you can mitigate the rng to the point you wont ever fail. 100% shots from close range flanking with shotguns, holo-targeting, explosives, psionics, high ground, etc. The game gives you loads of ways to guarantee the enemy dies. If you just take potshots from cover to cover you can blame yourself
xcom 2 is entirely about RNG
They have mods for exactly what you ask
did you fuck up the link?
X-Com 2 fell off the radar in less than a month, what were they doing?
Having to move forward and engage pods while moving your troops is tactics. Having to take defensive positions against incoming enemies is tactics.
Taking cover on a roof so you have LoS on an enemy patrol route is just busywork that results in a free pod-kill where you aren't challenged in any way.
I enjoy being challenged in tactics games, how about you?
If it was then how are there players that consistently preform well and can deal with any events that occur without making these complaints?
XCOM 2 is far easier than EW. Sup Forums is just shit.
I dont mind the Timers but I would rather have a soft timer like Massive enemy reinforcements after an amount of time. It would help with utilizing the new extract anywhere mechanic
Do you happen to have a single fact to back that up?
>Stealth mechanic completely pointless
you know there's professional gamblers right?
just look up breach and clear
"Toxic" should be reserved for actual and not just slapped on things you dislike.
I mistook it for door kickers. closer examination makes it look pretty damn neat
That looks good. What are its pros and cons when compared to XCOM:EU / 2?
People say this about literally every fucking game that comes out.
Guerilla War
It'll probably become "the overhaul mod" for the foreseeable future
>Reading comprehension
pros:
-no panicking
-no time limit
-no base management (could be a con to some)
-perma death is optional
-dont have to research weapons, you unlock them by completing missions in the fewest amount of turns
-sort of realistic
cons:
-shite dlc and standalone
-makes xcom eu/2 look bad
>Sup Forums is shit at video games
What a surprise
The joke is that stealth is already a shit mechanic even when going down the skill tree for it, because every other possible class choice is better suited in every possible way. The 8 turn limit to run through three patrols, grab the VIP, and then run up a third story building for evac makes it even less useful.
No, you fag.
>The problem isn't the time limit, the problem is that the time limit starts when you begin the level, which makes the stealth mechanic completely pointless since you are forced to play normally.
You're still retarded.
Anri a qt though.
Go watch some Beaglerush then get back to me.
Go outside then get back to me
I thought Breach and clear was some shitty android game
So that proves the point. Right.
>-no base management (could be a con to some)
>-perma death is optional
>-dont have to research weapons, you unlock them by completing missions in the fewest amount of turns
>-shite dlc and standalone
Dropped.
But the stealth mechanics are really helpful. They allow to to initiate contact on your own terms, and you can usually take out your first pod turn 1, or at least avoid multiple reveals. Plus you have units who stay in stealth after your squad is caught.
>muh erry choice is matress
>the choices are always which way would you like to be fucked?
>one base-one squad
>loadouts
>shit air combat (uhhh guys, these fucking "gaymeres" are mad about air combat, how do we fix it in the sequel? Just remove it, it's all gorilla warfare anyway)
If you like nucom - you are wrong. Everything X-COM had, firaxis took it and watered it down until it fits lowest common denominator. This is why game becomes "easy" at certain point. And mods do jack shit to make it better.
Fucking japs did a better job with VC than firaxis with all their civ and 2K money.
xcum2 comes to consoles? Good, it's supposed to be this way. It was designed to be played with controller and no brains.
Did they fix the performance?
>no time limit
>unlock by completing missions in the fewest amount of turns
lel
>paid DLC
>introduce new enemy category which cheat2win
>no incentive or reward for actually putting up with bogus enemies that exist outside the rules
what were they thinking
Battle Isle Androsia War
>turn based
>with REAL TIME TIMER
I liked the timer the first time, but cmon let me turn it off on new games, I want to have fun killing everyting
So it's casual shit?
so you have to think FAST
>so you have to think FAST
on the contrary
you have to think efficient which I, as a German, highly enjoy
>you gotta kill the pods on the same turn as the activation or you're dead.
you mean just like in the original
>TB with Real time timer
this is my trigger
cant someone just mod out concealment and timers?
this is true hardcore gameplay
Its more fun this way though. If I wanted to play Xcom EU again I would reinstall it
It was annoying but Dual Strike is the most casual of whole series.
helloooooooooooo reddit!
>not liking my casualized baby boy TBS with no permadeath or base management is reddit
>It's just another tactical game like Darkest Dungeon which puts preparation and adaptation first that makes casuals cry for the RNG but it actually requires skill to beat it.
fixed your post
Why is new XCOM so dumbed down? No snap or aimed shots, no AP or TU, no real control of your troops or the overall world map and you're funneled into scripted missions. Will any game ever top Jagged Alliance 2?
>If I just wanted feature X, I would just play completely different game Y!
Choke on a chode, you cyst.
cucked
except completely different game is in the same fucking series. I dont want stagnating sequels that never change
>mfw second wave of timer whining
I cant get into classic Xcom because of the complexity of combat but JA2 is super simple for me. Am I just an idiot?
>implying any consoles want this garbage
>any change is good, no matter what it is
>it IS [CURRENT GAME] after all
Nah JA2 just has a far more intuitive interface
The timer was a great addition to be entirely honest with you.
This is clearly someone who looked up a playthrough of the game after the console port was announced
...
>pros:
>-no panicking
>-no time limit
>-no base management (could be a con to some)
>-perma death is optional
>-dont have to research weapons
Didn't mind the turn-based timer within missions, though as some have said it renders the concealed feature mostly useless for anyone but a Ghost.
My main gripe in the game is the billion and one things on the map, all with time limits.
It's like if EU/EW had abductions running over 10countries at any one time and you have Bradford screaming in your ear that every single one of them is priority one.
Also bit of a gripe storywise. You're constantly trying to beat the avatar project and you get the timer and warning from Bradford even before you hit the first blacksite. At this point you don't even know the things exists or what it does, let alone its progress
>start completely concealed, enemy isn't even aware of your presence
>the timer for a lockout or what have you has already started anyways
how do the terminals know you're there, but the enemies don't?
If you've beaten the game once, the timer shouldn't be a problem whatsoever
I don't think the timer ever caused problems for me after I lost my first soldier to it.
>what is True Concealment mod?
Downvoted you OP.
I think it's a timer for the skyranger to be detected and tracked rather than the troops themselves
Well said, user.
I love how this game flusters all the shitters who just cannot into risk-management strategies in their turn-based games.
