The whole gimmick of the game was a mundane job/person in a vastly more interesting environment.

The devs floated ideas about a turn-based game in the same world of Glitch City but who the fuck knows if that will happen.

Well, they managed to make this game despite living in a horrible dictatorship, so I guess that's something. So yeah, if they didn't live in a shithole, I'd like to think they could be bothered to do better.

Because it's short and boring?

It's a VN with one boring route, no romance options, monotonous gameplay, and side characters that barely end up mattering because the actual plot ignores almost all of them, unless you care about the "endings" which are really just small, additional scenes you get if you did everything right for a certain side character. And even then, not all side characters even get one.

It's genuinely difficult to think of a game with less replayability.

That's not really an excuse for the game to be as uninteresting as it is, though. If anything it's more demoralizing because it means they purposefully built the game around a boring narrative and teased you with more interesting characters who's stories you'll never get to experience or even get involved with aside from serving them drinks.

Even characters that were made to seem super important to Jill like Anna were almost totally ignored.

Dev here, suppose we had enough money/time/electricity to make some sort of add-on content, what would you like to see from it?

Valhalla literally only is one route. You might get a handful of extra dialogue, and a nice little epilogue depending on the drinks you serve, but the events and ending are always the same

The only thing interesting was the cyberpunk environment and the vaguely PC98 artstyle (but not as detailed). These are the sole hooks of the game.

The whole punchline was simply that this wasn't a story about anything going on in Glitch City but of Jill whom, though probably going through the biggest change in her life, is pretty uninteresting all things considered.

I dont know what to tell you other than the facts and the fact is you didn't get engaged by Jill's story. That is the devs fault for that.

For what it was and who was behind it I consider it excellent.
Against real VNs its awful, and most of the characters are one liners, annoying, or downright uninteresting. I hear 'comfy' talked about which the game mentions and its true because there's absolutely nothing to do except quietly read the dumb dialogue and mix drinks which while they impact the story you have zero idea what they will do at the time.
Its pointless, but I don't think thats a bad thing.

No kidding. How could anyone get involved in Jill's story? The entire crux of it is her dealing with the emotional baggage of her ex dying and her ex's little sister showing up and giving her grief over it.

That seems pretty niche for people to get engaged with. I've never lost a loved one or an ex to a disease and the game doesn't really try to make me like Lenore so I have no emotional connection to the story whatsoever.
