It's a below average JRPG with below average aesthetics.

It's a good game.

Kill yourself.

...

It's like playing a harem anime complete with a beta main.

it has a meh battle system, a well told story with some unique characters. it also has the 'least bullshit' concerning its post game, until it becomes arguably the most bullshit on the PS1

SO2 has its own anime that follows the game pretty closely. recommend it

>SO2 gets an anime
>so does Phantasia

A magical time, the 90s. A magical time.

Now all is dead. Literal demon beasts roam the land.

>it has a meh battle system
Isn't it a lot like the early Tales games? I thought they were developed by the same group or shared staff.

...

I thought it was kinda meh myself. you might like it.

I liked it. It was the only SO game I beat. I played 1 and 3 and just couldn't get into them. Going to get SO5 next week.

quality

I believe so. Only difference is you can't block manually.

Good luck with that. I don't know what to think about the game based on videos and all the negative reaction here.

Whoever thought of a man with two dragons growing from his back as a character was insane

Only SO game I beat was First Departure. I didn't get too far in the original 2 (dropped it because I thought the combat was pretty slow) and I got pretty far in the 2 remake, but I kept getting my ass kicked when I got to the next 3 wisemen.

I haven't gotten that far in 3 since I have no motivation right now to hook up my PS2.

I suppose I'll try playing it to see how better I feel about the game. Is there a substantive difference to what character you pick?

you will only see their 'half' of the game. in addition, there is one character that will not join your party permanently depending on who you pick

is the main game short to facilitate playing both "halves", or is it more of a 30+ adventure for both?

>it has a meh battle system
I thought it had a pretty good battle system.

its the same story. nothing changes except which optional character you get. but there are points where one of the two main characters will go off for a bit. if you're not them, you don't see what happens.

like all star ocean games, you'll get about 30 hours from the main story then another 20 if you elect to take on the super bosses

from a powergamer standpoint, pick Rena

>pick Rena
The only reason to pick her is to see this. I'll save you the trouble.

Dias is usable. Leon is worthless

I remember wanting this game so badly because the clips I saw of it had me interested, it looked great to my childlike eyes because here you are running around the battlefield performing combos that are taking off 9999 with each hit, I wanted to be that player.

I never beat the game though. Marsellus kept whopping my ass near the endgame.

Fav character to control? My money's always on Ashton.

>first time I played this game my party was Claude, Rena, Celine, and Leon

Why is that bad?
