Subnautica thread
I'm having a hard time playing this game, all the sounds and shit just scares the piss out of me, and I've barely gone away from the escape pod. I have a signal for another heat signature but its too low for me to reach without my depth meter turning red, what do?

I'm the same man
I've been diving irl and it's fine but the moment I start going deep and hear a noise I absolutely shit myself
I'm having a hard time just diving in general, fucking stalkers always trying to fuck my shit up, one even followed me all the way back to the escape pod. Broke my knife killing it, then some space manitees took a poison shit on it
Worth the £9 it costs in the sale? Is there much content?
It's a great time sink, but there's no goal yet.
All you can do is dive really deep and build a fucking awesome base.
How much shit can actually kill you?
My only problem with the game is that it doesn't really give you any indication as to what things do or are.
I must've wasted alot of time trying to figure out what things do/are. People will argue that's the point but I disagree.
The dive reel? I thought what most people thought; You attatch it somewhere then swim down and then it reels you back up.
Nope it's literally just a line to tell you where you've been.
Those lockers scarttered everywhere? I thought you'd need to cut those open with.. the cutting tool.
Nope you just have to scan them. The cutting tool isn't really used.
Nothing is indicated you could do stuff like pull/push things. which seems like it'd be a basic function in a water based game. but you need an item you unlock by scanning those lockers.
Other than small things like that it's pretty great swimming around keeping yourself going with food/water and batteries
A lot of it.
How do you place the alien containment thing? I want to breed food/air fish.
It won't let me place it, it just stays red.
You got to build a room for it, then you can build it
Needs to inside the general purpose room.
Why the fuck do my solar panels keep going missing?
I can't afford to keep replacing them when they suddenly just vanish.
Most small creatures cannot, as they're there for food and water. Mesmer, Crash, Biters and the suckers can.
The larger ones can, except the Reefback.
*Empty All Purpose room
Also needs a Hatch to get in and out of it.
Just leaving this here
That's weird, never happened to me. Where are you putting them?
I played this game for a few hours but got sick of having to keep going up to the surface to breath, do you eventually get some decent scuba gear? trying to connect air pipes was a fucking chore. Also, not enough storage space.
On the edge of the foundations
Thank you user for helping me drop this game.
Have you tried putting them elsewhere to see if they also disappear? They can be placed pretty much everywhere
Sup Forums is leaking again.
There's a rebreather that counters depths causing Oxygen to be used faster and there's a vehicle called a Seamoth. Build a base for more storage (Cabinets can be built inside any base you make)
That seems like a whole lot of self-indulgent wankery. Like, really contemptable, self-indulgent twaddle.
"I care so much about sandy-hook that my undersea fantasy game can't have guns, which won't work too well anyway as it is under fucking water. Aren't I a caring individual, don't you want to buy my game and fuck me?"
Really fucking contemptable, I'm glad I only played a pirate version.
Anyway, you can still stab fish, and school kids get stabbed all the fucking time. Every. Cunting. Day.
Cunt.
I always line the top of my connecting tunnels on my base with Solar Panels.
why did they do this
How is that Sup Forums?
won't stop me from playing the game, but my inner /k/ feels nothing but hatred towards the fact that neat underwater guns will never be added.
at least the electric point defense thing on the seamoth is pretty cool.
We were promised massive sea monsters but honestly they seem kind of small.
Is it just me? I expected one that was really REALLY big.
Stalkers, Sandsharks and Bonesharks can all be defeated by swimming past them as they try to get you and eventually they get sick of it and swim away.
Every. Single. Day. My. Ass. Gets. Itchy
I lost interrest anyway. There seems to be a real overabundance of unfinished explore-and-craft-shit games in the world today.
Early access games can go and take a massive flying fuck at a rolling donut.
go for a swim around the back end of the aurora
Dragon leviathan =\= sea emporer.
>Trusting these devs after they fucked up Natural Selection 2
People aren't impressed by Reapers, they want things bigger than the biggest Reefback you find above the Crimson grass biome.
The Sea Emperor so far is the largest in development creature though.
You can temporarily tame stalkers
Hold a peeper in your hand and they will eat it when they charge you, they wont attack you for awhile
you can also just haul a couple strap metals, throw them out when the stalker swims by and it will be too easy collecting those to bother you.
Anyone got a decent map?
The ones from just googling it are shit.
I spent a while hovering around Stalkers to get their teeth. Damned Observatories take advanced glass.
>map
>of a randomly generated game
But I mean they're clearly the same drawing redone
Damn shame, I'd love a harpoon gun to go full Ahab with.
It's too bad it looks like something out of Spore
That's the lore though, Sea Dragon and Emperor are meant to be of the same family.
>can stab fish to death
>can grab them with a grav gun and fling them at rocks to turn them into a fine red mist
>can take live fish and throw them into a bioreactors so they slowly rots while you draw energy from their life essense
>but you cant spear gun a fish
I know exploration is so bland that you'd mistake it for random generated noise but it really isn't. Swim SW of the crashed ship and you'll find the island if you want to see for yourself.
Don't you know that guns are FOR KILLING PEOPLE!? There isn't a single instance in history where they were used to quickly and ethically end the life of a non-human animal.
Is there anything on the other side of the space ship?
I'm assuming there's no way to get inside.
That's out of date, lacking the second Blood Kelp and the lost river tunnels.
>in an era with replicators that need blueprints
>on a science mission
why would they have a spear gun blueprint?
You can get inside after it blows up.
The front and left side have entrances.
You can get in to one room and patch it up to stop the radiation leaks
Stop being a faggot and get on with it, you fucking sissy it's just a game lmao
I just want a fucking harpoon gun devs, don't do this to me.
Yeah but it does demonstrate there is a map
Not only that, the story suggests that humans haven't killed their food in hundreds of years. That said, it's a fucking blueprint, and they already had plans in place for crash-landings on ocean based worlds. Why wouldn't you provide a simple tool for the survival of your abandoned crew?
same reason they have a knife blueprint
its a useful tool
I find it reprehensible that the average American is not bothered by the fact that their children get shot the fuck up literally every single day. Looking only at the statistics, you couldn't even tell it was a first world country.
How do I breed fish? Do they all need their own separate tanks?
Do they need plants? Can I put different plants in together?
Will my alien egg hatch into something bad and eat my fish?
>can hand feed them to other fish
>cook them with lasers or break them down to their material parts
>can ram them to death with the submarines
>ZOMG why do you violent "gamers" want to defend yourself from dangerous and unrealistically aggressive fish so much!? This game is about peaceful scientific exploration!
the areas still have some random generation to them.
The terrain of each biome is different when you start a new file
The large aquariums allow fish to breed provided there are two of the same in there. You can multiple breeds in one tank and they will breed, but there's a maximum amount that can be kept in an Aquarium. You can build another multipurpose room ontop of another and extend the size of the Aquarium into there. You can place a ladder on a side of the MP room to access it so you can build the Aquarium above the other.
two of the same species, no
no, yes
yes it will hatch, no it will not eat anything
I'm pretty sure they sometimes tweak the terrain in patches but otherwise it's the same.
You're full of shit, if even a single kid gets shot in America, the whole world hears about it everywhere for weeks.
Is it just my imagination, or does your swim speed slow to a fucking halt when you're hungry/thirsty?
That is literally fucking retarded.
Your speed is reduced when holding a tool in hand, when you're hungry and when carrying lots of items.
>being on the verge of starving to death/dehydration impairs your physical ability
You know what else is bullshit? you blackout when you run out of oxygen
fucking retarded unrealistic bullshit game mechanics
knives are used for all sorts of work, spear guns are just for killing and this is a star-trek like world where you don't need to kill food
I bet you cried from a video game plot before too lmao
you obviously do though seeing as my diver needs to kill and eat 3 whole fish every fucking hour
What do you think happens to the fish you catch?
WE'VE SPRUNG A LEAK, CAPTAIN!
The laser cutter is used for large pieces of the Aurora laying around. They contain loot and can only be accesses by the laser cutter.
Maybe for opening a few doors that are locked, but they only really hold a few things like benches or the picture frame that you scan once.
Jesus
shitfire logan, get your man on that
>try to play
>changing textures sometimes crashes the game
>stutters and memory leaks
Game looks interesting, though.
Here you go OP
>NS2 filled with bugs, memory leaks, and awful optimization that made even the toughest machines stutter
>Years later, UWE doesn't learn from any of their mistakes and still programs awful games
It's time to fire your programmers or something, UWE.
Was scary till I realized that most of the actual threats in this game are quarantined to very specific zones. They need some type of random element that will put the fear back into you. Like maybe some predator that is active at night or something
Agreed.
They need to drop the human-like aspects of their giant leviathans.
The reason why people shit themselves of the thought of deepsea giant creatures is because it is as far from human understanding you can get.
Give me leviathan krakens, crustaceans etc., not fucking giant mermen dragons with human features.
whats the ideal place to make your first base?
But that would be hard to make!
I build mine on the edge of the Crimson Plains not far from the spawn location.
I'd like to say one of the dune areas, or whatever the low sandy areas with all the red seagrass are called.
The reason they have human features is because they are bio-engineered humans
on top of one spires, that way you have plenty of room for a moonpool too
tfw thought it was a comfy diving and base building game
>It's actually about the horrors of the deep
I'm refunding
Figured that much due to the "precursors" and that they could control them etc.
Still though, the only difference between the dragon and emperor is the face and arm features. Its just lazy.
This game is something special. I'm terrfied of deep ocean, but continue to play. I set up this base because my pod floated away. I want to progress and hopefully become self sufficient, but I'm terrified to get dick deep. Friends have told me to go to the island, but I'm terrified of the Leviathian and possibly worse. What should I do next?
Seabase dock for the Cyclops when?
Is there is any online component in that game? I heard it was in plans, but they added it or what? I saw some updates on their website but never seen any gameplay with more than one player.
I hope you made a fabricator before your pod floated away
I believe they confirmed no multiplayer.
if ever it's likely to be a standalone sequel ala don't starve
Fucking agreed. When will we get cool, inhuman shit like pic related? Or something like the kraken, or anything that looks like it came from our actual deep sea with all that scary ass shit.
but charybdis was from shallow sea, was it not?
can't play it with my firends and they keep putting off multiplayer. Why should I get this then?
Yeah, it was just a whirlpool right on the coastline of sicily
She was, I think, but I wasn't making the assumption she came from deep sea. Maybe worded it wrong, but I was saying something deep-sea esque OR mythologically weird yet terrifying.
