I can't imagine Color Trash doing bad enough to make Nintendo consider a change of direction.
It would have to sell like Codename Steam and get a sub 50 metacritic score, as PM fans already lost the opportunity of being heard with an overwhelming negative first reaction like the one of Metroid Fail Force.

I watched some footage from it, and it looks kinda fun. My only gripe is that if they wanna commit to the puzzles, they should really drop the combat entirely because it just serves as a bitter reminder of what the series could have been.

For one all the NPCs look like the same generic Toads which is a step down considering previous entries' more varied cast of characters.
