I haven't played PO, but the rest are much better. Without comparing it to the rest of the series it's still an unfinished piece of shit.

5 killed itself by making a large portion of the gameplay traveling through a barren empty desert from one location to another to do the exact same sort of missions you've already done but in a different location (and sometimes the same location). It also has less gameplay mechanics than 4 did, and it made "Big Boss" an extremely boring, almost mute character. In 3 he was humorous and talked frequently. He was almost as likable as Solid Snake. But in 5 he's lifeless. Boring.

5 is the only game in the series that I actually disliked. If the whole game was like the intro sequence (but with all the gameplay mechanics available to you from the getgo) I might've liked it.

Best overall gameplay and best replayability without a doubt. But 1, 2 and 3 have the interesting stories and cinematic game structure so they're better representatives of the franchise

Holy shit I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about him near the end of PW. Like a massive dropoff. Kojima did him dirty in _how_ he went about getting a new VA but it was 200% needed by that point.

The Big Boss speech at the end had me cringing. I get the impression so much dialogue was cut from TPP because there was no place to put it. All the story was cut as well.

In all fairness every completed non-repeat mission was fantastic. Attaching c4 to the arms dealer in the war economy and blowing the helicopter was my overall MGS highlight
