Even though Crash 1 wasn't as refined (gameplay-wise) as the later two games, does anyone else find it to have an absolutely brilliant atmosphere and soundtrack?
I mean damn, it's soooo comfy.

I think it's about as comfy as 2.
It's a great game.
Here's to hoping the ''remasters'' will be good.
Let me help salvage your thread, OP

Why? His voice is cool, but he doesn't really do anything, he's a static character
Crash 3
N. Brio's theme from Crash 2
Cortex
tough question, probably N. Tropy from CB3
Cortex
It's too hard and Road to Nowhere scared the shit out of me as a kid. Crash 2 and 3 are much better.
lol
>le comfy
I dig the design, plus he always takes the hits so I consider him pretty Bro-tier

Its a good game desu
Its the only Crash I've beaten and I enjoyed how difficult it was.
Crash 1 music is really fucking moody.
Listen to these and tell me they aren't comfy as fucking hell

Maybe it wasn't intentional, but Crash 1 seemed to have a more "evocative" and dark atmosphere than the other two games.

N. Gin (2), was way harder than Cortex in that game imo. Not sure why I don't like his fight in Warped as much, might literally just be because you have to play as Coco.

The polar bear. Just seemed like the cheekiest racer to play with.

Wtf are you talking about? 1 had the best gameplay that wasn't casualized to hell and back and it does have the best atmosphere and a great soundtrack. It's easily the best one in the trilogy.
The controls in Crash 1 seemed a bit slippery compared to the later games
Also, even if the other two were casualized, I think they were still great games
Who said they weren't? That being said the series took the wrong direction after 1 regarding gameplay, the added gimmicks were tedious and a pain in the ass most of the time and they took place over actually platforming fun. This is especially bad in 3 where it really becomes unbearable at certain points and whole pacing of the games gets fucked.
Of course they were great games, in fact those things they added were just parts of them trying to be great games, it's very understandable in hindsight as these kind of things were pretty cool and fresh back then and they were a sigh of better technology that was always in demand in video games. But now? They''re a chore and a pain in the ass, meanwhile the simple gameplay of 1 has aged like fine wine. It wasn't bloated with wacky ideas that took away from the core gameplay and this befitted the game in the long run.
What shitty gameplay gimmick does 2 have outside that stupid waterboard and two space levels right near the end of the game?
Crystals are always on the main path
Warp Room allows you to choose your level but you still need to beat every stage to get to the next one
Gems are gotten the exact same way as the first game
Bonus rooms are easy as shit
The only thing I can think of is that Death Routes really turn up the backtracking quotient to stupid levels.
Waterboard
The jet
The ability to hide in the ground in the level with the bees
Can't think of any. Though those are enough to be a nuisance and certainly enough to be a warning sigh that the series is going the wrong way.
It's easy to see it in 3 but in 2 you have to dig even deeper to see how the game was better off with staying within the limits of the genres and focus on level design and difficulty like in 1. For example the gems are generally easier to get while in the gems were more difficult and required and nodeath run. The bonus level were also much harder in 1 and they themselves were hard and challenging(fun) to reach compared to just them being an option in 2 and where there's no need for them except for gems.
