How can this PlayStation 4 Exclusive possibly go wrong?

There's how.

>Square Enix

Easily

What's wrong with platinum?

Besides Activision's budget and time constraints, and Miyamoto's obsession with gimmicks.

If you played any Yoko Taro game in your life you'd know Platinum is the perfect choice.

>square enix
>exclusive
Yeah for about 2 months.

Square Enix published the first Nier though.

SE has published every single one of Taro's games.

Says who?

The FF13 trilogy took years to come to the PC, with no notable addition

Yes because Cavia was so fucking good at making action games, right?

Things that will be good no matter what:
The music

Things that could possibly go wrong:
AI
Boss difficulty being too good or too bad
Bland environments
Quests more tedious and bad than in the first Nier
Make this shit episodic (lol)
Exclusive dlc

Am I missing anything?
Also, Kaine did things to my dick and I wish she was back.

I can't wait for the game.
I hope this one absolutely destroys me as a human being.

Yeah and dragonquest heroes or final fantasy type 0 took how long? Btw, 8 gen games, not 7 gen.

May I remind you that FF13 was not an exclusive

This

Can't wait for PC players to shit in every thread until an eventual PC release, and then backpedal hard.

The only difference between FF13 PC and Nier PC is that Nier will be a good game.

What didn't you like about the first Nier?

Bland environments is hardly a worry. Bayonetta has some incredibly elaborate levels, and Okami is Okami.

And Yoko Taro has full control over art direction anyway, so more likely we'll get some weird shit somewhere.

is wrong

Difficulty became a joke once you got the spears.

Thats pretty much it for gameplay. Also they should have just chosen one protag for the whole game, never split them, that just gimped the story in subtle ways.

Combat was boring as fuck.

Some sidequests were stupid as fuck.

I hate that Yoko Taro keeps forcing us to collect every weapon to get the final endings.

Everything else was amazing. If platinum can nail the combat, and everything else lives up to the first game, we might have one of the best games of the generation on our hands.

I actually didn't mind the combat, I LOVED using dark lances and some of the other spells (all of them were fun in certain situations) but the melee stuff was lacking and enemies didn't stagger from any hits, but Nier always went flying across the screen, landed on his front and stayed there for a solid four seconds after every single attack he receives from even the smallest enemies so that was fucking annoying.
I also wished NG+ let you start from the very beginning, and make the areas less repetitious.

Why do you have to brong consolewar shitposting into this?

>I hate that Yoko Taro keeps forcing us to collect every weapon to get the final endings.
This this this. The grinding to get all weapons to tier 3 was absolute garbage and I decided not to bother with the last endings because of it.

The combat looked somewhat neat and unique, unsure why it caught so much shit. I guess some enemies are too spongey?

You wanna explain?

and before you go the predictable way, Activision's time and budget constraints fucked up those games, and Miyamoto clearly had full creative control over Star Fox.

How to spot someone who's never played a Cavia game

Reminder /u/ and Sup Forums are good pals and you should support 2B x A2

You only have three weapons in the game. You only get the other two 60% of the way through the game. Each weapon has a SINGLE combo with some extra attacks on the side.

The best way to deal with encounters in the first game was to spam dark hand and hack enemies until you could use dark hand again.

I still can't beat the final boss's last hit/wave of touhou balls without using the spear.

Aside from that, Square Enix is past their shit phase. They're one of the better publishers again.

Platinum vidya has been a tad weak recently. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

>how could it go wrong

The only thing I can think of is if Taro thinks he has to be "Drakengard 3" weird with the direction.

I feel like D3's weird TV shit and fourth wall breaks were a result of him trying to out-weird himself. I just hope he can contain it to the same level of weird and interesting Nier was and not go super dumb with it.

>>Platinum
There you go. They've never made a genuinely good game. All flash with no substance, and even the flash is just autistic faux-anime shit.

That's only because of activision fucking them up during production.

Activision, A.K.A: make us a ninja turtle game in time to correspond with the movie. A.K.A: make us a transformers game in like a year because fuck you.

>Okami
>GodHand
>Viewtiful Joe
>Devil May Cry
and yes,
>Bayonetta 2

And even if I agreed with you, ANYONE is better than Cavia.

That I was promised an AMAZING story. While there were some good ideas, most of the shit including route B was way too shallow and predictable to really support the weight of the themes the game was reaching at(which aren't even that profound. Moral gray areas and killing innocents or other people with their own feelings for the sake of some higher purpose is pretty common in any classic cRPG.). It's like I'm expected to have some internal crisis because I found out that the boss I killed had some bland, sad backstory that's presented and then discarded within a single paragraph.

The writing in the game is just not very good.

Don't you Murphy's Law me, faggot.

When are you faggots going to just admit that the only thing about Nier that is good is the music?

The twist is really not even the best part of the game for me, desu I just liked the characters and their banter the most.

That side mission where you can get Devola and Popola to sing together is one of my favorite moments in the game.

But the story, ideas, and curveballs thrown were really cool.

Remember that part where it turned into a text adventure, or that part where it turned into Diablo? Or that part where it turned into resident evil? Or that part where the desert king kid did a zelda reference? Or everything about Ending D?

You get what I mean.

That Transformers game is pretty damn dope though. Bare bones but it's still very solid.

The issue with any dedicated and small fanbase is that the group eventually becomes a stall hivemind incapable of processing new ideas, so they become hyper sensitive idiots who lash out at any contrary opinions.

That's what the Nier fanbase ended up being.

I hope Automata can expand the community so the people arent a bunch of stuck up virgins anymore.

Anything with the sisters is a gold mine. I took my time during my first playthrough and was heartbroken when I had to kill them.

>Platinum
Dead on arrival.

Explain fagot

Never because thats not true.

I readily admit as a game its mediocre, but if you think the only good part is the music then you really dont know what you're talking about.

The only Platinum game I've played is Vanquish, and that didn't come close to disappointing. I have really high hopes.

High enough hopes to maybe buy a PS4, so REALLY high hopes.

Clothing damage when?

Get the fuck out /u/

Neptunia and/or Senran Kagura faggot please leave

it's not Drakengard 4

Another rhythm final boss with GUI fuckery using the touchpad.

>How can this PlayStation 4 Exclusive possibly go wrong?
None of the 3 you've mentioned are infaulable. There is always something that could go fundamentally wrong from budget, time, testing or other factors. With any game all you can do is hope for the best and wait. Only time will tell. So knock on wood and stop fucking jinxing it.

What

>Square-Enix
For some reason Its as if putting this label on a box magically guarantees the game will be terrible. Don't tell me how, its just something that seems to have happened for the past 10-15 years.

That said I still hope this game fights those odds and actually is good. That boss footage from e3 looked good if that's any consolation.

But none of the Drakengards were good.

Clover was Platinum before they became Platinum you idiot.

And Devil May Cry 1 and 3 were made by the same creators of Bayonetta.

better than nier

But FF14 is good.

And Deus Ex was fantastic. The new one is also looking to be great.

FF15 is still on the fence but hopefully all goes well.

Nigga what the fuck are you drinking because you need to put it down.

What? No. Nier is better than any of the Drakengards. 3 is the only one that can tie.

Nier is better because at least the overpowered magic is basically a "skip every small encounter" button.

tfw Drakengard 1 is the best game in the series but nobody believes it

Nier is a close second though

Bro/Papa Nier split

>grinding
Just playing normally gets you most of them. Then you buy all but like 2 or 3 with the money you likely have a fuckload of from finishing the game twice already

I had to do all of two short sidequests to get C and D ending, and I didn't even try to get weapons before then

You are either the world's best DMC3 player or a fucking action game scrub because Plat's games are technical as fuck.

:3

Kill you are self

Nigga you're high.

Also the split was to suit cultural differences.

Literally the only difference in the story is Nier is either a Father or Brother.

The story works better in my opinion with Papa Nier.

>Bro/Papa Nier split

Literally irrelevant

1 has probably the most interesting story and characters of the Drakengard side of it, but the gameplay is horrible. Even 2's gameplay is a tiny bit better, although not by that much. Which is why 1's still better, since everything else about it is superior to 2.

>Sony
Sony?

Sony didn't have shit to do with this game.

Not even dollarydoos.

Squeenix is the cash cow. The relevant creative minds are
>Yoko Taro writing and directing
>Okabe composing
>Emi Evans singing
>Yoshida designing the characters
>Platinum designing the gameplay
And to a lesser extent
>Yosuke Saito slapping Taro around and forcing him to include the things people liked from NieR and DoD instead of abandoning them because he's bored

Based on the demos FF15 will be terrible

>Also the split was to suit cultural differences.
It was useless and didnt cause anything but needless confusion. Also some scenes literally dont make sense like Kaine and Papa Nier just after the King dies. Its something more suited to Brother Nier

Although I prefer Papa Nier I would have just kept Brother Nier since he was obviously who the game was originally made for

Brother Nier makes the game way creepier. The way he acts regarding Yonah is way more fitting for a protective father than a brother, who makes it creepier by being closer in age. Not to mention having a middle-aged man as a protagonist in a japanese game is a nice change of pace.

Also Papa looks cooler.

Creepier to a Western perspective, but I'm willing to look past cultural differences for the sake of consistency.

What's so wrong with two slightly different versions of the game anyway? Pokemon does it every couple years, who gives a shit.

Play whichever version you find easier to identify with. There is no "correct" choice, both games were released simultaneously in their original markets for a reason.

>Clover
Not Platinum

>creepy

Get your head out of the gutter

>Bayonetta
>not good
>Vanquish
>not good
>Transformers Devastation
>not good
>The Wonderful 101
>not good

GIT GUD

I literally just told you why it gimped the game. Has nothing to do whether its "wrong" or not. The split was clearly unplanned and done at the last minute which is why the story is so inconsistent with Papa Nier.

If the split was no necessary they should have planned it from the start and been more thorough in their rewrites, but they didnt do that. And at the end of the day the split just added needless confusion when they could have kept it simple and just used one.

Okay

But if you want to play it that way, Takahisa Taura and co are all Platinum newcomers, not founders from the Clover days

Mikami left Plat, and neither Saito, Inaba nor Kamiya are involved with Nier:A.

>Sony

What? Did Sony help out in this project?

Fuck off with your console war bullshit.

>The split was clearly unplanned and done at the last minute
Half the game was made that way. Taro literally rewrote huge chunks of the story after the VAs had already finished recording FFS.

The Replicant/Gestalt release distinction is just another one of his weird ideas, and given the ultimate story elements regarding Replicants it's actually surprisingly consistent to have multiple Niers of different ages

>Half the game was made that way.
and he surely learned his lesson after that lol

the big point is that it was generally a waste of time and resources, and did very little for the story, he could have done well with just sticking to just one

It's exclusive to Sony's platform

No. It's probably not even going to stay sony exclusive. Those people just don't care about good games, all they're looking for is more fodder for their consolewars.

>console war baby shit continues to ruin platnium threads

You're right.

Then it would be Papa Nier since he was the original Nier (Brother Nier was scrapped early in development, Papa Nier was shown in all the original E3 footage), and it was only announced later that RepliCant was going to happen, using the original scrapped brother concept, to appeal to younger Japanese gamers.

Gestalt was the original game concept. Taro confirmed this, and the pre-release footage bears it out.

>>Yosuke Saito slapping Taro around and forcing him to include the things people liked from NieR and DoD instead of abandoning them because he's bored
>Yosuke-kun! Yosuke-kun! Can I turn Yonah into a slutty cannibal cyborg songstress that's singing all the emilbots into slavery?
>No.
>Then can I make Emil show up in a permanently petrified but conscious form that's worshipped by aliens and used to turn humans into unwilling emilbots that the new characters have to kill? He'll still be a happy camper too!
>Are you trying to get us lynched?
>But it's all part of the big happy ending!
>Only for you, no.
>Can I at least put a dick on one of the girls?
>Go for it. I'm sure they'll like that.
>Yay! Robot castrations!

so is platinums good team working on this or on scalebound?

Kek

It's more like
>Taro-san, we have heard many fans say they very much enjoyed the weapon stories from earlier games
>I'M BORED OF WEAPON STORIES. I DON'T WANT TO DO THE SAME THING TWICE. I WANT THE ONLY WEAPON TO BE A CROWBAR
>Put in weapon stories or I am going to photograph you without your mask for the next Famitsu interview
>THIS IS STUPID, I'M GOING TO GO FLIRT WITH TAURA AND MAKE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE

>platinum shitters think they have any say in drakengard threads
