Why is this game so perfect, Sup Forums?
ITT: 10/10 games
RE4 really is pretty much the only "PERFECT" game ever made.
So thread can end here
I also consider DMC3 a perfect game.
Bayo 1 is a 10/10 game too
...
I haven't played it yet.
Is the PS3 version really as bad as everyone says it is?
...
>babby's first RE game
It would be perfect if parts 2 and 3 matched the charm of part 1.
Sadly, it's the only truly great game in the series.
Yep. It has god awful loading times, random slowdown in combat, etc.
I'm sure it'll get a PS4 remaster like literally everything lately.
>can't move and aim at the same time
Perfect my ass. I can't stand the way every enemy runs towards you but suddenly stops a few feet from you are starts to slowly walk even though they only have a melee weapon and you have a gun.
I consider this to be the best videogame ever created
It really was perfect. It would take a long time to explain exactly why though. I think MGS3 substance/hd is also a perfect game.
One of my favourite games of all time.
MGS2 doesn't hold a candle to this masterpiece. The only thing it has going for it is the philosophical shit.
The point is so you have to make a decision between running and fighting. But with the game mostly focused on sprinting around and shooting it does end up feeling shit like 80% of the game, only really working in moments like the town intro. This game really isn't as perfect as people say.
People who started playing videogames with the 360 don't get to have an opinion here.
>I couldn't git gud: the post
The Wii version of RE4 is the best version.
I'd rather emulate the Wii version with a wiimote, than play the new PC port.
Rocket section. That alone tops it out at an 8.
Contrary to what you may believe, the ability to aim a gun and move at the same time existed in games before the seventh gen.
There's another new version coming in a month or two; they're remastering it again for PS4. Considering the RE5 HD remaster they just released a few days ago for PS4 is fucking awesome, I have high hopes for this own.
>t. owner of the Wii, PS3 and PC versions
This game is literally perfect and it's flaws make it better
Not in a Resident Evil game.
I'm playing it currently, and I enjoy the tank controls.
They offer more tension and skill to master rather than a regular run-and-gun based TPS.
Transition "hunt the only portal surface" areas definitely made the game better
You don't need to "git gud" with "please shoot me, here I'll make it easy for you" enemy AI.
The parts where you just have to look for tiny painted spots in huge rooms suck
My perfect games :
Symphony of the Night
RE4
DMC3
Red Dead Redemption
Games I also like but acknowledge issues :
Diablo
Street Fighter II
Dragon's Crown
Chrono Trigger
Suikoden II
Final Fantastic Tactics
MGS3
Jet Grind Radio
Link to the Past
Demon's Crest

>>can't move and aim at the same time
Doesn't automatically make a game better to be able to do this. Tank controls work better for survival horror.
...
>GameCube
>PS2
>PC
>Wii
>360
>PS3
>iOS
>ZEEBO
>PC (again)
>PS4
>XBone
I wonder how many people in the world will be able to say they own all 11 versions of RE4?
Well, you see, the game was heavily build around this control scheme. That's why the enemies in this game slow down as they cone closer to you. The game gives you the chance to quickly react and attack before your enemy can.
>ZEEBO
I'm also missing iOs because I don't hate myself.
Second.
Because the merchant was a great npc. I was sad he didn't come back in 5
...
>it's flaws make it better
Examples?
overstays its welcome after a certain point
thats 5
4 ended at around the perfect time
RE5 is mechanically superior.
Also, it doesn't have Ashley.
Stupid shill will claim re 4 is somehow better than 5,6 or revelations 2...
>when the series became shit, linear and fucking casual
no thanks
Its just gonna be a straight port of the PC version. The two definitive versions are PC and Wii, PC has arbitrary resolution and the re4hd project, wii has excellent controls.
>The game gives you the chance to quickly react
That's my problem. You don't need to quickly react, the game gives you all the time in the world because you are stuck in place while shooting.
If they were zombies then fine but Capcom was very adamant they are not zombies and yet the guy with the knife is still going to shamble slowly towards the guy with the gun instead of rushing him and the only reason why is because they just wouldn't drop those antiquated tank controls.
I amazed that people actually defend such an awful design choice. It's immersion breaking AI to get around the fact that the control scheme is shit and that's all it is. And that silly looking side step they do does not help.
5 is DLC to 4
6 is a hot mess
never played Rev2
It's the only game I've played so far that feels like it nails 100% of everything it sets out to do.
That said, it's still not my favorite game, but I have great respect for it.
You have horrible taste - I honestly would dislike you as a person if you said something like the above to my face.
Shame on you. Also hurry up and get a job: your parents are waiting for you to grow the fuck up.
>implying the previous games were linear as fuck
>implying that linear level design is bad
Do you seriously think that backtracking back and forward some small ass area is non-linear level design?
MGS1 and MGS3 at least have some unique areas.
MGS2 is just fucking tedious.
...
tfw MGS3 dosent even start until you hit Groznjy Grad
But the thing is that the enemies in this game attack in hordes. Meaning that you can run out of ammo quickly and have to reload. That's the time where you get fucked by the enemies, especially in the final level. They're not that intelligent or strong on their own, but as a group, they're fucking relentless. Kinda like the previous zombies in the older RE games.
But hey, it's your opinion. I personally like the design choice.
I was thinking of picking it up before the steam sale ends, but I've never played any other RE games
Will I be completely lost story-wise?
*implying the previous games weren't linear as fuck
Damn typos.
No, not really. Be sure to start with either RE1, 2, 3, or 4. And NOT with 5 or 6.
REvelations 2 is a great game
REvelations 1....not so much.
REvelations 2 is pretty good, but doesn't hold a candle to 4.
5 is just meh.
6 is a decent game with cool combat mechanics and a nice story, but everything else just falls apart.
>find a whole bunch of pointless shit to fight the final boss
nah
That and also this
>You don't need to quickly react, the game gives you all the time in the world because you are stuck in place while shooting.
Hey, I like the village chapter intro too, but you should give the rest a go.
It gets pretty wacky.
This and Mega Man X are my two 10/10's.
The one and only
Sir?
what
FREEZE! I SAID FREEZE!
Literally a masterpiece, 5 years after and there's still nothing even close to this
QUE CARAJO ESTAS HACIENDO AQUI LARGATE CABRON
>No mention of Thief yet
I mean, there are multiple posts for MGS "games" in a thread about 10/10 games, and not one mention of the VASTLY superior Thief?
Fucking Sup Forums man, full of plebs and children. No game posted in this thread even holds a candle to Thief.
>I only played the first 30 minutes
Mighty No9 is perfect as well.
FEAR
I haven't played Thief 2 yet but some of the original Thief's levels are kind of bad. The ones that have you running from zombies instead of sneaking around. It is overall a great game though. Most of the MGS games are great too but they also have some flaws except MGS3.
literal masterpiece
>Mafia: the City of Lost Heaven
played it back and forth so many times I know it like the back of my hand.
It's good but definatly not a 10/10.
AI is dumb and once you realise how they operate, you can pretty much abuse and cheese the game.
>inb4 old game
still not a 10/10
> The ones that have you running from zombies instead of sneaking around.
which level exactly ? Everything is sneakable, just zombis are easy to run away from because they are easy. Doesn't mean you can't go sneaking.
Do you mean the part with hammerhaunts on the chapel ? You do sneak around.
One of the most flawed games I've ever played. It was a pretty great game at some points, but the flaws in the story and gameplay make it far from a 10/10.
Literally perfect.
>the flaws in the story
Explain yourself.
not same guy, but I really didn't like how Cole cheated on his wife off screen and was demoted, then fucking died. Really disliked that about the game, and the open world was pretty dead, almost nothing to do.
I really like SM, but I think ZM is the best game in the series
I don't really care for the term perfect but...
Symphony of the Night is one of those games I just decide to play a bit on a whim every few years and always end up completing it.
I was going the make same thread that I've been replaying the game for 3 days. I hadn't played it for 10 years and the game doesn't feel old. It aged really good. Everything except the graphics (not the art style) is superior to its successors. It even does the grinding right. I can't name any game other than RE4 that is comfy, intense and unnerving at the same time.
Also not that guy but the story lacked cohesion and there's a simple reason for that, virtually every aspect of the plot was plagiarized from various neo-noir films.
You can't just take various plot points from different films and throw them all together like that, you wind up with a mess which is exactly what that game was.
I don't think so after Nintendo funded Bayo 2.
The catacombs, the ruined city levels, the escape from constantine's level. The zombies give you zero incentive to sneak past them and they just wander around aimlessly so they are just everywhere. Those levels would be good if the game were a dungeon crawler but it isn't. The cathedral was actually an amazing level and even though there are zombies it worked well for that level. I'm just saying Thief is flawed but still really fucking good maybe Thief 2 is better I haven't gotten to it yet.
Throw in Snake Eater and we got the makings of greatness here.
Nothing is perfect but I'll be damned if they aren't 10/10
not him but thanks user
...
My only problem with replaying the game after all these years are the controls. They just feel some clunky now.
ZM is definitely up there but I didn't think it's level design was quite as interesting as SM's
Fair enough
My main reason for putting ZM above SM is because ZM plays a lot smoother than SM.
This game has a great soundtrack.
Perfect predecessor to Rising.
Half Life 1
Resident Evil 4
Metal Gear Solid 3
Call of Duty 4
Warcraft 3
GTA San Andreas
Any more classics I can add on the list?
I was just playing this again today. I keep forgetting how fucking GOOD it is. It's one of those kinds of games that's so good, it gives you actual chills.
Speaking of RE, why the fuck hasn't the PC version of RE2 been updated and brought to Steam like most of the others? It was ported to hell and back since its release up until like 2005, surely they could do it just once more.
Ninja Gaiden Black
What HD texture pack do I download for RE4? Is it the Village Pack or is there something complete or better or something?
Thief 2 does generally have more threatening AI due to a lack of undead apart from a handful of hammer haunts. The robots will fuck your shit up if you get caught, though you can outrun the clunkier ones.
I don't get it either, man. They could just port the Sourcenext version to Steam, because that version is fucking perfect, but it's only in japanese.
Shadow of the Colossus
Way of the Samurai
Baldur's Gate
They really are clunky and I have hard time with it whenever I replay it, however once you get into it again it's pretty great.
I still prefer RE5 though. For me it has smoother gameplay, amazing visuals (still the best-looking RE game), more iconic (if thoroughly ridiculous) elements and stays good longer.
First village part of RE4 is amazing but after that it's kind of meh.
replace CoD4 with WaW
Megaman X
Megaman 2
Super mario 64
Red Dead Redemption
REmake
Super Metroid
Zero Mission
Symphony of the Night
Halo CE
RE1 will always be the best.
Fuck you all.
