MMOs getting ported to PS4

So Tera Online is coming to the PS4 in 2017.Do console players even want this? Do consoles players even like MMOs? I think it's a waste of assets.

That one F2P DC capeshit game is already on PS3. F2P MMO coming to console is nothing new.

I mean, I play warframe on console and played a decent bit of DC:UO with my friends that didn't have gaming PC's on PS4 a while back. I also know a decent amount of people who play FF14 on console.

I think it's a welcome shift, the more people that have access to/play MMO's the better

PSO2 is Japan only. How many foreigners are playing it? If it was so popular it would have been released outside of Japan.

People play FF games because it's fucking FF. Their main consumers are on consoles. Games like TERA or Warframe or any MMO that isn't WoW doesn't stand a chance.

the most successful MMO on consoles at the moment is FFXIV on ps3/4. I wish It wasn't catered to console babies because now the graphics are gimped on PC so it performs well on consoles as well.

the only reason i'm not playing it right now is because apparently the phone version only works on bluestacks, not on the phone, and I have a toaster for a pc.

I play FFXIV on PS4, mostly because it's always on and my computer takes forever to start up, but still.

I've heard alright things about TERA, so I'd be willing to give it a shot

If this is true, then hell yeah I'd play it. Only thing that stopped me from playing it was how difficult it is to make it playable with a controller. It felt like garbage no matter what you did, because of their shitty keybinds. Fuck keyboard and mouse.

I can't even imagine what an unoptimized mess this will be. It can't even run properly on high end PC's let alone consoles

I've probably posted this beforehand, but this seems to be an issue of the client being outdated or somewhat fucked up in the EU/NA versions, as the game can get 60 FPS up to level 40 dungeons for me on preset 5 with a 9600 GT (512 MB) and Athlon II X4 640 (3.0 GHz) on both the KR and JP versions.
Now this could either be from a ghetto rigged anti-bot thing that doesn't even work, similar to maplestory, or god knows what the fuck.

In fact, here's how I ran the game on the NA version with the exact same specs, and even in the starter areas I couldn't muster more than 40 FPS.

I have 0 understading on why this would happen but I assume the client has gone trough major changes and the NA/EU version have just added content instead of re-translating and mustering everything over.

when I say toaster I mean 'barely runs games I have on disc from back when' let alone whatever you think I mean. my newer pc died a while ago, I have yet to replace it.

It's usually because NA localization teams are incompetent. In order to minimize programming workload so they don't have to hire programmers, they maintain parity for the international versions, only implementing translations and graphical 'localization' changes.

I assume the PS4 version will be handled with the JP/KR team working together so I'm going to guess that it'll run swell and that the UI system might actually be replaced (and not only the PS4 as well) for further comp-ability in the future.
The PS4 curbstomps my specs into the ground already, if I can get a decent performance with my garbage specs I'm pretty certain you could just slam my copy of the game into a PS4 and have it run perfectly, and that's without the NEO as well.

All in all I hope they do implement cross-play, I've found PSO2 with vita-players to be a pretty nice population booster.

i have an i5 6600k and a 970, everything maxed averages 40fps, rarely dips to 20's, sometimes jumps to the 80s.

My old ass non-gaming laptop is able to run PSO2 just fine on low settings, even though it is barely runs Warcraft 3. You should at least download the benchmark to try it out (the benchmark is slightly more demanding than the game itself).
The game is shit, anyway. PSPo2 and PSOBB are better (even though ep.4 was shit).

PSO2 is alright, I really feel like they should've sticked to the gamestyle and gameplay of PSP2i instead, I had too much fun with my friends racking up amazingly high chains, PSO2 itself feels a tad bit too floaty.

I've played Warframe on PS4 and it's fine. There's an active playerbase and the controls feel good so I don't have any complaints.

pso2 is so fucking easy that you don't need any advance techniques whatsoever

Combat is fun, the mmo parts are typical mmo parts. The biggest problem was poor optimization. If they are actually fixing this, it could help the game population greatly.
