RX480

They made god machine component more affordable than ever. $240 for a fucking 8 gig son.

Whats your pitiful excuse for not jumping on board with the PC master race?

i hope AMD releases a BIOS update so it's not gonna kill motherboards with all that power consumption through the PCIe port

How much are they paying you to make this post?

It can barely beat a 980.. 980 is like two years old man.

and the 980 is $320

>paying

I received mine for free.
CROSSFIRE SON

>crossfire

enjoy your dead mobo in 2 weeks lol

If 80 bucks makes or breaks you user, maybe you got more important things to worry about.

say that to my face user i dare you

Not sure I could get that close without buying nose plugs first.

"if you don't buy the more expensive card that only beats the 480 in old dx11 games you have other things to worry about"

literally end your life

>Changing every word in the argument to sound like you can prove a point.
>using the kys meme

You aren't making yourself look any better user.

That's rich considering how fucking obvious it is Nvidia employ a viral marketing company to shill extensively on places like this.
It's especially easy here because of the anonymity too. No need to maintain legitimate looking forum accounts or the like.

$240 + the price of your broken motherboard

buy nvidia goyim

best card in its price range matches overclocked 970 for $100 less and will get even better with dx12.
Im waiting for the 490.

that's exactly what you said, and how dumb that sounded like, the card is doing better in dx12 and it's soon going to be the used for every game starting with deus ex

"kys meme"
please tell me you came here because you found r/Sup Forums and thought it's gonna be a good idea checking it out

That i have a 390 that isnt going to melt my pcie slot?

If you have a 380x and above, its not worth it.
now if you have a piece of shit 960gtx and below like me, you'll get double the performance. LITERALLY.

Do you have a 970-r9 390?
If yes, don't buy it then, worthless.

Do you have an older card?
Wait for either a bios update so it doesn't fry your pcie port OR wait for GTX 1060

this i have 770 gtx and the 480 sound goood

str8 fire

Isn't this card filled to the brim with issues?

nvidia fanboys or shills.
can't tell which.

AMD fag in denial, everybody

i've been in favor of AMD tho, i think the 480 is a great card, but selling your current one (if you have a 970 or better) for it is just stupid.

I have an ATI 4450.

I think it's time to upgrade, lmao

The shilling on Sup Forums was so immense people were trying to make a graphics card general. The board was legitimately being slid with shills.

I'll hold off another year, no games have really made me wish I had better 2bh

Yeah just wait for 1080 ti sli.

2 pesos have been deposited into your account pedro

nice flavour of the month meme

Because housefires.

I'd rather spend that $80 on a bigger/extra SSD desu

Why would a rx 480 brake your MO? Is it have to do with some sort of voltage shenanigans?

I thought I was supposed to be able to buy it yesterday, but everything on the internet says "sold out" so obviously I misunderstood something.

When am I actually allowed to buy one?
I built the rest of my computer and was waiting for this to release before I buy a graphics card.
I've been playing Overwatch on nothing but my i5 6600k Integrated Graphics, and Overwatch does not look good at 33% render scaling on a 50" TV

It Pulls way too much current through the PCI-e port. It's not fitting into the PCI-e standards requirements.

Because unless the aftermarket models are great I'd be better off getting a 1070

Why would you buy a 980 when you can get a 480 for cheaper and has 8gb of RAM?

Nope. Though at this point getting a sapphire branded one is best and you have no choice either way as the reference are sold out

Sounds like a pretty big deal. Is there something the consumer can do to avoid damage or is this something AMD is just going to have to sort out?

Dude... are you serious? It's going to be sold out/back-ordered for a while. If you want one any time soon you'll need to buy it now and you might get it next month. Or you could just get a 970, they're on sale basically everywhere for the price of a 480, except they're in stock and you have options.

Like anything either company does wrong its blown out of proportion.

Some cards are drawing too much wattage out of the pci-e slot or something which isn't good but shitposters act like its a feature of all 480s instead of a defective card

>AMD
>master race

kill yourself

It may or may not be a big deal. I haven't actually heard of it causing any problems, just that it's happening. In theory it could burn out the traces on a motherboard because they're not designed to handle that current.

You're supposed to go to a store, get a graphics card, and then return it when you can get a 480.

It supposedly can cause audio issues but its only 5 watts over. An 8 pin power connector could alleviate the problem

The GTX750Ti when overclocked pulls more wattage from the PCIE slot than certification allows and there haven't been any issues so far

> 8 gig
Pathetic 256Gbps throughout.
Retards shilling wrong numbers as usual

They aren't certified to handle that current. We are only talking 5 watts here. I'm curious if some home modifications can fix the problem

Reminder that the reference design is shit.
Reminder that just putting a decent cooler on the reference boards gets it up to Fury X performance.
Reminder that custom cards cards will clock even higher

Yes/no? Someone told me I need a better case too but I don't know which one is cheap enough that works just fine.

Just curious, how would this card pair with an fx 8300?

No difference btween a PCI videocard drawing power from the board or directly from your power supply, it's the exact same thing

Just more nvidia FUD to distract from the fact they will never be able to compete with a 200$ 480

Nvidia doesn't really worry about competing in the $200 market.

>Not OC 64
>OC 74

I am pretty sure OC shouldnt give such a boost

1350Mhz is a significant overclock over the stock card, which throttles to below 1200Mhz in most games. Also memory clocks matter.

custom cards will easily clock to 1400 or 1500Mhz

A PC with good cooling always has lower temps than the test beds they use. They said a stock HD6970 would run 75C-85C. Mine averages less than 70C (mostly around 66C) at full load.

If you live in the hot dry desert you get higher temps. If you live in Florida you get high temps. If you live in Canada you get nice frosty temps

So you're saying if I want a really good computer I should move to the Arctic Circle?

I don't feel like replacing my motherboard.

>tfw playing 'heavier duty' games again
>room is considerably warmer in an already warm evening thanks to the summer heat
The worst
