Forced to use party members you'lve neglected the whole game

>forced to use party members you'lve neglected the whole game

What?

>play game again years later
>level up everyone equally and make sure they have decent equipment and spells
>final boss randomly picks your party in the fight
>beat her without protagonist

Digital Devil Saga 2 was a funass game, but fuck how they killed off half the characters with no warning

>party member you trained the entire game gets perma-killed.

>Jack of all trades party member has completely no value compared to the rest of the group

Wakka - Tidus - Rikku god tier all tiers

>your favorite party members can no longer be used in the game

>they don't level when not in the party

The first Trails in the Sky game got it right, NPCs would leave the party when the story needed them them to be somewhere else and when they came back they'd be levelled and equipped to a point where you can still use them. Shame the second one ruined it

>forced to use party members you'lve neglected the whole game
>turns out you are unstoppable as them
Final Fantasy type zero in a nutshell for me.

>lose a party member
>regain them like 5 hours later
>they're hideously underleveled compared to your current party and have no redeeming factos to make grinding them worth it

fucking piccolo, can't be arsed to level you up

>have characters i like and include in the party regularly
>still feel obligated to take the lower-level characters to the party so they don't fall too behind despite never intending to use them seriously

>best party member leaves the party/dies
>you forgot to unequip them

I appreciated that with Type 0 you could train your shittiest one when you weren't even playing the game, made it much less of a drag to level the weak ones up.

It was usually Eight for me. I just couldn't get to grips with his play-style.

Eight was a great character if you get his combos and stances down.
For me it was Tres.
Didn't realize that bow btfo almost anything with a max charge.

>pic related is my favorite character
>always make sure s/he's the strongest in my party
>beat FF9 for the first time
>talk to my friend after he finishes the game
>he bitches about how hard the Lich fight was
>Why didn't you just level up Quina?
>"wow ew no fuck that ugly fat piece of shit"
>my face when killing everything in the Desert Palace with just Quina

>it's a blue mage

>get a new party member
>hes way underleveled for that point in the game

>play Persona Q
>game calls you out if you've been ignoring the benched characters

FUCK YOU KEN I STILL DON'T LIKE YOU

>your team member who is an expert archer and you maxed out all of his ballistic stats lose his hand and can't use ranged weapons anymore

>they're playable in the bonus campaign with all the other characters that died
>their starting equipment is what they had on when they died in the main campaign

>Digital Devil Saga

Fuck Cielo.

>play Dungeon Travelers 2
>most party members you have to fight in order to recruit and progress
>they do massive damage, tanky as fuck HP, and overall a tough fight if you're not overleveled
>beat them
>they join
>20 levels below my squad with the most basic classes

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

>forced to use an annoying character
>don't level him up and carry that bitch

Fuck you Hope

>late game low-level party member
>ends up being one of the best characters in the game with training

>Playing FFX
>Forced to play Wakka

>play FFX in Japanese
>Wakka has a much cooler voice and less annoying dialogue
It's all worth it.

That just means you're overlevelled

>need to use a party member that is shit for a mission its clearly not suited for because reason

>your favorite party member you played entire game with is useless in sequel

Why has a pokemon game never had a period where your strongest gets stolen by team rocket and you have to go save them

This should literally only be a problem when you're a dumb kid playing your first 1-3 JRPGs.

After that something should click in your dumb little head that says "oh gee my unbalanced underleveled party ruined my experience the last time, I should make sure not to do that again!"

So I take it then that OP is underaged and just played FFXHD for the first time or something.

FUCKING tos

>temporary party member you meet near the start
>overleveled as fuck
>has super expensive endgame gear
>you can unequip them
>if you unequip them they comment on it and take it back

Because some morons only level their starters and ignore everyone else and forced rinding is avoided as much as possible in JRPG nowadays.

>Wakka
>Not Kimahri

I was incredibly salty when that fight happened. I never used him apart from the beginning where you had to due to lack of party members. In the end I was forced to load a previous save and grind him until he was just barely strong enough.

Because it's a game made for children. Moreover, most casual players just over-level their starter and tank through the game with it.

Riviera

Forced kimahri fight scales off your kimahri's stats

Naw bro, not everyone is autistic enough to grind in a game for the off chance that they pull this shit.

Hell Legend of Dragoon did it, I played that game through 9-10 times and still never used FUCKING MIRANDA because you can just spam healing items on the parts they force you to use unused party members.

>Character feels like a complete character with its own weapon class, abilities you can learn if you level him/her, special abilities with a unique niche, etc.
>The character must die early game and there's no way to save him/her

What's the point of developing the character if only autists will over level it to see all that shit?

Suikoden did this all the time, but it actually was alright

>Get some Level 8 character for whatever the fuck reason
>Everyone else is level 35 or so
>After 5 random battles, Level 8 character is already level 30

Suikoden was an easy game, I don't think I saw the game over screen once.

I remember doing this when I was 12 years old.

Then I replayed the game a few months ago and made sure to cycle him in for 1 move in just about every fight and get all the Lancet moves I could. It wasn't even painful.

It was an incredibly easy fight this time.

Can't you save them?

Plus Tidus has the mutant crow laugh

>games takes a party member away for 1 dungeon
>it's your healer

I always end up leveling everyone equally for about half the game then just get lazy

>Forced to use neglected party members
>The game keeps up their level with yours

Did it? I must be remembering it wrong then. I definitely do remember having trouble with it though, due possibly to rarely using Kimahri's blue mage abilities and only having 2 or 3 learned ones to choose from.

>barely level any characters besides my main party
>suddenly want to level everyone up to 99 at the end for some reason

Fuck getting Great Gospel but I needed those steam achievos

>you can romance your party members
>build up relationship with one girl
>later it turns out that you cannot love her because she canonically falls in love with some minor character
>not only you got cucked - you also wasted your valueble and limited time on that target

>can't switch out the main character to power level the neglected characters more effectively

>forced to use party members you'lve neglected the whole game
>on the final boss
Thanks Ys Seven

It sucked that hope was by far the best medic in the game.

>forced to use one of the 80 party members you negleted the entire game

Yeah you could win it with barely any leveling done on Kimahri, was nice square thought that might happen instead of totally fucking you over

>forced to use a character you negleted the entite game
>he hates you for it
>is extra shitty as the result

Meh, FFXIII wasn't very good to begin with

Lavitz > King Albert

He's got a full set of unique additions and unique dragoon spell and attack animations. He has the Jade Dragoon for like 25 minutes play time.

What game(s)?

Playing Mass Effect for the first time right now. Take the krogan mercenary Wrex on every mission, love his design.

Fucking Ashley shoots him in a conversation. Fuck you designers.

>forced to use nothing but your mages
>boss has has reflect on and there's nothing you can do about it

Also you can Learn atleast half Kimahris overdrives off that fight

>le ebin cute anime girl saying something inappropriate xD

I love Tenka Senka Ching Chong Nani Desu as well it's my favourite korean cartoon :DD

That's the worst in disgaea brcause I love grindan

it's your fault
Tali and Wrex entire game masterrace here

>not saving based wrex
>not saying fuck you to shitley's racist fucking bitch face

>game gives you new party member/unit
>it's just a worse version of a unit you already have

>there are people who didn't nuke Ashley

Why? Just why? She was a massive bitch to your two best bros Garrus and Wrex.

>Playing a FFT clone for psp
>have a well balanced team
>all of a sudden, main character dissappears
>game forces me to use main characters shitty best friend character in her place
>haven't used her since the beginning

what game m8?

>This fucking faggot
>We'll use the DRAGON BLOCK STAFF
>Okay then
>It also blocks your dragoons. Hope you've been stockpiling AoE atk items faggot.

>character you really like
>that character sucks
>you use that character anyways because you love that character so much and end up making things harder

>that one party member you fucking hate
>but you cant take him out of the party because he is just to fucking good

Forgot image

If you have high enough charm/intimidate or did the mission to recover his family's armor, you can save him. Don't blame the game for your incompetence.

>Claim to like Wrex and use him on every mission
>Still so shit that you couldn't even be bothered to do his personal mission and become his friend

For once this isn't Bioware's fault. You deserved it.

fuck you sten

Jeanne d'Arc

Basically the story of Joan of Arc except with demons thrown into the mix

oh yeah i have that game in my backlog
thanks for reminding me user

You don't belong here
>>>/reddit/

Because Kaiden was boring and I wanted him to stop fucking flirting with my FemShep for just being nice to him.

Ashley's xenophobia added a bit of spice to her, given she is the only human companion in the entire series to show it.

Fuck you Bao-Dur, Visas Marr and Kreia. You shits can't survive on your own.
Fuck you Atton, these bitches are fucking you up.

>He knows he's incompetent and while the rest of the party is being useful he's out there getting huge

>Jeanne d'Arc
Quick google makes it look promising. Suck to not have the PSP to play it. Are PSP emulators not shit nowadays?

>I wanted [character] to stop flirting with [protagonist] just for being nice

Then why were you playing a Bioware game?

It's easier if you never use Kimahri.
You can literally win with two of the bomb thing items.

Not sure if you're b8ing or just autistic enough to get triggered over chinese cartoons

Psp emulation is pretty decent now

>character dies roughly half-way through the game
>her daughter who looks like a 10 year younger version of her shows up and joins the party right afterwards

>Choose for enemy to take away party member that is at the worst stats
>Party member comes back and fights you later in the game
What games do this?

Because the only Bioware game I had played before ME was DA:O and at least in that one it was easy to let them down quickly and gently, generally you had to make an effort to flirt with half of the LIs anyway. In ME if you're even slightly nice to them you have to rip their fucking hearts out in order to get them to stop coming after you.

Killing him was a kindness.

Second playthrough I realized the amount of overpowered spears you get early into the game thus making him my hardest hitter for the majority of it.

Mix is stupidly overpowered in every single ff game it shows up in.

>giving up on Terry

>Forced to use pokemon boxed 10 hours ago because team almost got sweeped

>highest leveled party member turns evil and you have to fight him
>he has all the items/abilities he gained while with you
