IX is not my favorite game. But it says a lot that a 'bad' DQ game is still the best RPG on the DS.

DQX is an MMO. And improved on every issue DQIX had. If anything, its the remake of DQIX we should be getting.

I almost want to play through the English titles someday to witness to see what all was changed, but at the same time I kinda don't really want to because the Japanese versions are great.

Not him but I and II are a rough around the edges but very good. III and IV are some of, arguably, the best games in the series. All are worth playing.

Doing my yearly playthrough of the series. Finished 1, almost done 2, using the sfc-english patch. Which is the best version of 5/6? Patched SNES, or DS?

Definitely. As another guy said, I and II are a bit rough, but I still think they're worth playing. III sucked me into the series and IV is also great. Concerning III or IV, I don't think I could pick one over the other.

Cool, I'm looking for some JRPGs in between playing Castlevania and Dork Souls. I have I and II for the NES, but I suppose I'll look into what the ports have to offer.

DQ6 doesn't really any noteworthy changes as far as I know at least(I think they took out monster catching in the DS version but it was kinda pointless anyway)

Don't forget about the PS2 version of V.

I would recommend the sfc/snes version of I-II and III. Best graphics and music and more balanced. Some might say the gbc versions are better but I don't feel their additions are enough. Be warned, the sfc/snes version of II has some nasty game breaking bugs, try researching them to be safe.

I've played through Final Fantasy I on the NES a long with Breath of Fire I & II on SNES. How does the grind and difficulty compare to those?

remember that the SNES version of DQV only let's you fight with 3 party members instead of 4

in the case of I it's mostly grinding until you can get it going

in the case of II there's grinding and pic related

Ive got until sepetember to attempt to 100% dq 6 and 9 to have beaten all of the dq games. How much time and I looking at dumping here?

Dragon Quest V is my favorite, it has waifus and the storyline that spans generations.

That map is considered the hardest area in the series, it is not to take lightly.

Also a quick note that your buddy the prince of cannock, the guy in green, is quite unreliable. Be prepared II is considered the hardest in the series and nothing comes close.

100% DQ9 took someone like, 400 hours.

Bianca was forced on you but kinda cute, I've mostly played the sfc version so I hate the country bumpkin ghost hunting I always hear people complain about. Mostly I just find her boring and useless in battle.

I mostly play DQ for the slaying evil, I just didn't like any of the girls in V. I admit I like the girls in IV though, or more they stuck out to me.

That was made up by the localizers, I don't remember anything like that when I played through the 3DS version. I've seen some videos of the PSX version and the localizers made up more than just that.

To be fair, 3DS hacking is a tid bit harder than just buying a thing and jamming it in your console. The sheer volume of people HERE who couldn't do it, even when shown a step by step guide, means the numbers probably aren't as high at least.

DQ tends to suck for LP. Since the games are all about talking to NPCs and exploring on your own. The only thing you really ever need a guide for is mini medals.
He's alright I guess. He puts in a lot of work for his LP so it's nice to have to find all the items and special was of handling bosses.
