I have torrented version 1.1 of bioshock and bioshock 2 on steam and both work perfectly fine. What issues do these games have?
I was able to play BS1 on a Win7 machine. It had a few issues, but I managed to iron it out.
Oh and also make the atupid tower defence like part at the end something much more interesting

It's free so why not. If they unlock the 30hz physics, add a fov slider, have native support for all resolutions and aspect ratios, add anisotropic filtering, and so on... that's less shit I have to tweak myself to make the game run well on Windows 7.
The game worked when it came out back on windows xp and most of 2s issues stem from dx10 they just have not fixed them and now it seems they finally are

Only problems I had with bioshock 1 and 2 were 1 required a newer build of OpenAL.
And 2 needed to be manually configured to able to use more than 1GB of VRAM.
Both need FOV mods though.

A remaster doesn't necessarily mean better effects, textures and framerate, it basically means running at a higher resolution natively on newer systems.
Also, switching from pre-baked lighting to dynamic may cause a game to appear worse than it did before, case in point: Hard Reset - Redux.
With that said, it looks like they're tweaking some geometries and textures and lighting in BioShock and they look alright to me.
