I remember pic related being one of the best wrestling games that game out back in the day.
Has anything in the series topped it as far as gameplay and not just updating the roster?

In my opinion, no. The game had an awesome career mode, GM mode, it had so many arenas and game modes, I think it's one of the greatest wrestling games of all time. Any other wrestling game now focuses on the roster and polish, but fail to focus on fun these days.
no mercy 2000>all
SmackDown series>your overrated meme game
>"""""sports""""" gaymes
i laughed at the meme you call
"my life"
I never said that wrestling was fun to WATCH
>I remember pic related being one of the best wrestling games that game out back in the day.
You have some explaining to do.
>2007
>back in the day
Post yfw teenage boners in 'Fulfill your Fantasy' mode
snaggle teeth/fleshteeth were a mistake.
It's been 9 years user. A 9 year old then would be 18 now.
10 if you consider these come out before the year arrives
Born in 94
Was 13 in 07
23 this year
Still on Sup Forums
End my fucking life
lel no
today wrestling games are absolute shit in pretty much every single term - from technical to design there's nothing good about any of the trash the weebs have been shitting year after year.
>average graphics but some of the worst character models ever - any ps2 game will have better looking and more realistic characters than all the shit they have released on ps3/ps4
>pathetic """career""" mode which is pretty much "do a lot of vanilla games to win the title, then it's over"
>shitty and boring gameplay
>bugs and technical problems all over the place even though their games are basically the same year after year with updated roosters and a even more retarded tap out system
but this is transversal to any game coming from japan, they have been creatively bankrupt since the early 2000s and they're still living off of old 90's glories - mercilessly reashing their shit year after year for more than 20 years
You're 22 this year dumbass, I was born in 93 and I just turned 23
Don't hate on the cute tooth
Apparently, whenever THQ/2K wanted to change something, WWE always needed to approve it. ALWAYS
>has the chance to make a badass negro killing hulk hogan
>still makes some smug anime bitch
fucking weebs shouldn't they be death according to darwin?
ahahahah no way fag
Tfw you forget how old you are
Wrestling games aren't even made in japan you idiot
How long has it been since the last NJPW game?
In gameplay terms, there has still been nothing beating Day of Reckoning 2 or Virtual Pro Wrestling 2.
>rock paper scissors grappling
>rest holds, adding realism while still keeping gameplay diverse and fun
>neat story mode with branching paths
>fusion of the SvD and no mercy engine
>VPW2 is basically no mercy in weeb with a sick combo system
The reason why wrestling games have shit story mode while having big rosters these days is because wrestling IRL has shit storylines despite having the best roster in years. Art imitating life.
There's also an option to do shoot fights in Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, with an entire part of the roster dedicated to shooters
Even based Haitch on the cover wasn't enough for 2007. Smackdown 2002, Here Comes The Pain are vastly superior right off the top of my head.
2006 was 10 years ago.
the equivalency of 1996 to 2006
...
Isn't Yukes Japanese? I specifically remember them being responsible for a deeper japan only game that the later smackdown games were shells of.
That said, if it didn't lose create a finisher, WWE 2k16 would be goat. It feels so much more heavy and grounded, closer to a wrestling sim.
the older games like feel too arcadey now.
I don't give a fuck about the story, that's why the Japanese and the Mexicans are ahead of us, they don't need some deep involving story, they're just there to wrestle. I mean, DDT had a dog winning a belt from a ladder. I don't need some storyline for that.
The pro sport aspect of pro wrestling keeps getting forgotten often in the west and especially the USA because culturaly style is worth more than substance

Indie wrestling is good still, PWG and occasionally ROH when it doesn't go all flippy dippy. IWA-midsouth is good.
There are a lot of good matches and such, it's just none of the major stuff.
You got it, baby. Best wrestling game ever made. Sorry you have to relegate yourself to this thread-full of plebs.
LETS START A RIOT, A RIOT
Yuke's is a Japanese developer. They originally made Toukon Retsuden, on which the framework for the Smackdown series was built. That framework then spawned forks in the Gamecube WWE games (which themselves iterated into the Japan-only Wrestle Kingdom series, which is actually sorta neat), and the UFC series.
Despite 2K trying their best to fly the flag of Visual Concepts entering the current generation, the games themselves are still developed by Yuke's, and it shows. I imagine it's either a matter of WWE not wanting to fix what's not broken (in regards to sales), or Yuke's being so entrenched in WWE games at this point that they can't rationally pull them out without huge backlash.
SO WHAT IF YOU CAN SEE
THE DARKER SIDE OF ME
Does anyone know the name of the guy who wrote the ost. I can't find his name anywhere. It's so good
Yeah There's some good shit on the indies, but much of it is flippy shit, spotty and thigh slappy. I used to love the indies when Hero, Cesaro and Bryan where hot. Luckily Hero is back and we have guys like Gulag
i like smackdown vs raw 2006 better
>AKI makes fashion games for Nintendo now
I wonder how many there at Syn Sophia are still around from back in the WCW/WWF/WCW again/Def Jam days. At least there will always be Revenge.
