They seem to think that anyone who has to use a bolt action unscoped rifle will die of boredom and quit the game. Which isn't true at all, all the popular WW2 games have players using bolt actions without scopes, and they love it, they are widely used, they are powerful weapons that require a lot of skill.

It would be severely underpowered when compared to other classes. You can do that already with the Sniper class (usually) and have access to their gadgets, but what gadgets do you give to a plain Rifleman? Extra grenades?

No it wouldn't. Seriously, go and fucking play some of the WW2 shooters from the 00s. Rifles are perfectly balanced, and they easily had snipers alongside regular rifles.

Take some of the gadgets away from snipers, make their primary advantage be their scope. Riflemen should be the good all round class. Give them a faster rate of fire, the mad minute for example, give them more grenades, dont allow snipers to have bayonets, theres endless possibilities.
