If anyone here is wondering if there's mods that change their gameplay experience just slightly without bloating the game full of tons and tons of useless/redundant content, I'd recommend these two mods:

>Prefixes for Enemies : Adds modifier prefixes and suffixes to enemies that change their stats. For instance, the "flammable" prefix would make the On Fire! DoT do way more damage to them, while the "colossal" prefix does, well, image related.

Mods in Terraria are stupid simple. Just download tModloader from the forum thread ( forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/1-3-tmodloader-a-modding-api.23726/ ) and copy the files into your Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Terraria folder, replacing the Terraria.exe. Load the game, open the mod folder from the game, and drop the .tmod files in, then reload mods.

Start with sprucing up basic shit before you start trying to do bigger things. Work on making shapes with blocks, how hammering things affects their appearance, and what materials might look good when combined with other materials or when painted.

If you're a first time player, medium for solo.

In terms of lategame, it starts to feel a little cramped, but it's good for a first timer to explore without feeling like it takes too long to get anywhere. As an experienced player though I'm all about the long haul so I tend to enjoy large worlds.

Also if it's your first time, I'd honestly say start with Corruption since that's the first one there was.
