It allows you to do things with older games that would otherwise be impossible. For instance, you cane make Metroid: Zero Mission surprisingly better simply by patching it to enable the toggling of powerups on and off, and via lua scriptwork, you can give the original Metroid a map, subscreen, and save files. We can also play edited versions of games that are too large to fit on the original media they were originally provided on. It may not be able to perfectly replicate the way the originals looked, but they are only a good thing so long as they come out after the system they're emulating has run its course.

IMO emulation of 8 and 16 bits games are inferior to the original console.

However as soon as you jump to 3D models, emulation will always be better mainly because you can force a better resolution and stuff. (With a few exception for ps1 titles, like SH1 for example)

Certain setups for 1964 work really well with Tooie, plus Glide64 or GlideN64 can't remember which ones runs better

Emulation is useful, but it's used way too liberally. Emulation shouldn't be completely wiped out, it's the only way to play certain games that are no longer sold and may no longer have surviving copies. It's a good way to archive them too, so that even if physical copies eventually get data rot the game isn't lost forever.

Too many people just use them as a medium for piracy though, which should be frowned upon.

I only like it for games that are annoying to play physical copies of. If every console was backwards compatible I would hate emulation.

Fast forward modes are very nice for grinding though.

I usually try to stick to playing on the original console just out of preference, but it's a easy & fast way to play games for the most part. Also they do have the benefit of being played in HD and netplaying so I guess there's that.

if left and right are the same filters, one being more agressive, it is very noticable. looks like the textures dont even have texture on the left for example, may as well be aggressive mipmapping 2 feet away

If you are emulating newer consoles (like a WiiU or 3ds) that have no successor and you haven't bought a game then fuck you. Otherwise emulate however you want.

it's good because a lot of classic games and be exspensive and rare and it's good for keep a arcive so some games won't be forgotten.

I only use emulation for anything from 6th gen and below. So i would start emulating PS3 games when the PS5 is out.
