sadly it is so old. i will play it when there is a remastered hd-edition.
I'm considering getting this. Can it be run on windows 10?
...
>be a badass fucking vampire
>oh wait no you are actually a little bitch that sits at the bottom of the blood sucking foodchain and can't even fuck shit up otherwise goes berserk because it's cool and edgy le beast XDDDD
most overrated piece of trash ever made since planescape torment, kill yourself
That's a funny joke OP. A game has to be able to stand as a vanilla experience to be good, and VTMB needs a fan made patch to even approach being playable. All it has going is setting.
The fucking haunted house always gets me, even now I think about quitting before I do that quest.
You fell for the Wesp5 propaganda. The game works better without that patch as long as you uninstall Tessera's patch that makes the game playable on modern operating systems. Wesp's patch adds more bugs than fixes.
...
I bet you haven't even played the game without Wesp's patch but it has crashed on you several times and you have assumed that it's because of the base game instead of the patch.
>badass vampire
vampires aren't that tough on world of darkness totem pole, actually. there's a reason they're social predators.
>Tessera's patch
oh man, anyone remember that fucking drama ten years ago? turned out tessera was fucking insane and she left the scene.
In WoD, haven't vampires historically lost when going up against humans en masse?
Please, Source engine is a fucking mess, cutscenes are laughable, load times between tiny areas, shit combat. Only reason you like it is because of hot vampire bitches, there's no other reason to play that broken piece of shit.
The pirated version can, I was playing 30 mins ago.
Yes and that was during the inquisition. Masquerade exists for that reason. Although to be fair, vampires got hit harder than most because they were preying directly on humans in the cities and you gotta keep in mind most of Europe was a dark forest back then so you didn't have much choice when werewolves stalked the countryside and other shit.
Do vampires in america solely exist in large cities?
The GoG version can, steam needs the unofficial patch.
No, Brazil has a large Gangrel population in their countryside, although every other clan only exist in large cities, usually 500k and up.
Gangrel like to hang out in the wilderness, but I imagine they know to give werewolf territory a wide berth.
No, but it's kinda important that canonically at least, it's one vampire per 10 000 or if 100 000 depending on which variant you use. Of course, that's all subject to dramatic effect and ST's decisions, but that's stated in the rules for city building. So you don't really get legions of vampires even in the largest of cities.
Are angels things in Wod?
Demon The Fallen is all about angels. That's what demons are.
just finished the game went for the independent ending, fucking bitch was hard.
Yes, but they do fuck all from what I remember from Demon where you play as fallen angels.
>tfw my backlog of things to read can't fit on one screen
Man I love the look of 1990's esq city at night with Goth undertones. Reminds me of Johnny The Homicidal Maniac and Hot Topic.
You can play the game with just the official 1.2 patch that was released a long time ago.
>Wesp's patch adds more bugs than fixes.
This, tried doing a playthrough with the unofficial patch and a quest was broken. Somehow he made the key for a vanilla quest go missing.
Yeah, Tessera is insane and uses his website for a hugbox. But, he does good work and his patch is what I use when I play. He was right about Wesp's unofficial patch being more of a mod, it makes unnecessary changes even with the basic version, and the plus version adds more things but also some low quality custom quests. I don't really like it.
It has a good story, multiple ways to play the game, varied missions (for the most part, near the end it's mostly the same), interesting characters, etc.
I think so, the lore pretty much says God is real
>All it has going is setting.
Not even the setting anymore really since the early 2000s are over and people grew out of urban goth stuff
I remember her(or his?) entire crusade against sexual repression or some shit like that, good times.
Reminder that Tremere is best clan.

who the h-e-double hockey sticks is Edward?
Posted this in the last thread. This game was inspired by VTMB and looks similar, except an user said it's more like a dungeon crawler. It sounds pretty good to me and I'm gonna pick it up on Steam before the sale ends.
Would anyone like a dump of clan pages from the books? I used to dump them loads a year or two ago, but maybe there's new people here.
>Ed was a man that became known as the Ocean House hotel Axe murderer
It's pretty bad. I really really really wanted it to be good.
What's wrong with it? :(
I am glad and sad at the same time for playing this when I was super depressed with my life.
I can't replay it easily without getting a bleak chill of feels.
It does add to the atmosphere though. Good game for depressed times.
Mazmimum comfiness.
I got the game like a week ago on the GOG sale. Do I have to download patches to not get drowned in bugs? Any mods worth getting on the first playthrough? Mainly looking for graphical improvements.
It's inspired in a sense it has vampires. That's about it. Like you heard game is a dungeon crawler and buggy as fuck.
>I am glad and sad at the same time for playing this when I was super depressed with my life.
Same for me user. Unlike what that other user said the story is still relevant today and helped me think a lot about what's happening in the world. If you just focus on the goth stuff you miss the more important parts of the story.
Combats worse than Bloodlines, Plots not the best, the low budget really shows.
I appreciate that he made it, and im glad he got it on steam so he got some sort of payout from it. But it's still a bad game.
Buy it if you want though.
Why are unfinished games like Fallout 2 and VTMB okay but MGSV was not?
I don't know why we've had such bad luck with vampire games.
because fan patches exist.
Because RPGs have elements they can get away with, so to speak, even if other elements aren't as good. Really, MGS5's problem is that it's unfinished. That's pretty much it. Bloodlines was not unfinished, it's just buggy because they rushed the ending as opposed to cutting it out. I don't know Fallout 2 ended up there but Arcanum is more appropriate choice.
Delete this
I think Bloodlines worked because the source material was incredibly detailed and it was handled by devs who knew what to do with the source material
>Mages who gave up reality bending powers for half-baked hedge magic
>Everyone who isn't at the top of the pyramid is blood-bound in a chain to someone who is
>Not true Cainites and will always be viewed with suspicion by those who are
>Counter-magic for thaumaturgy can be learned by literally anyone who manages to find a teacher
>Best clan
It's literally a vaporware.
The game is so buggy and unfinished it's not even funny.
if it was vaporware it would have never been released, you tard.
Hmm that's disappointing, Bloodlines combat was already on the edge of being bad.
That game was terrible. I was excited after being in the club and feeling some VTMB references, and I might be a bit biased because I already don't really like stealth games, but I quit playing after a few missions. It feels boring just trying to exploit poor AI in stealth games.
Dark had a bit of a story behind it, it started off ambitious had an open world and the gameplay originally wasn't supposed to be stealth based.
But during development they got their funding cut, so they switched the focus to stealth (no need for combat ai) repackaged some of the levels they did butchered the story and released it as a budget title.
What hurt me so much about this game, was i went into it thinking it was going to be great.
Because their entire premise, story and everything else boils down to YOU'RE A VAMPIRE and game never moves past that point. Look at good vampire games like Legacy of Kain, Darkwatch, Bloodlines, etc - they have vampires and all associated elements, but they're usually not SOLELY about that because they have a proper story of their to tell. Legacy of Kain in particular is a series of vampires games that's not really about vampires per se, Blood Omen notwithstanding.
they were gonna make a white wolf's werewolf game too but the company went under :( sad times that game was really something. too bad V:TM-BL never caught on,,
Imagine....
if this game had taken off and opened up the game more like a GTA sand box. but still keeping true to the rpg vampire stealth elements of the game
getting in before dawn. dialogue options
factions to choose. npc upon npc is interact with
not to mention with a huge sandbox map all the side shit you could get into that was whitewolf related
i.e. :
more werewolves and other were-animals
mages
other supernatural types there are so many in the white wolf rpgs.
holy crap. too bad it prrobably wont happen
white wolf was bought by paradox interactive
youtube.com
new video game eventually
I don't think I would like this game as much if it was sandbox. Sandbox games can be good but they aren't inherently better.
Well there are Hunter games on consoles but they're utterly mediocre action games.
>Crusader kings - vampire politics edition
It's not happening that soon according to RPG Codex.
> A friend of mine is a game designer who attended a White Nights conference in St Petersburg. There was a certain polish Paradox representative named Andreea (you can get her full name on the conference site, I don't want it to be googlable in this context). My friend is a big VTMB fan, so they talked and she told him that Paradox has already been approached by 3 different companies with a prototype for a World of Darkness game and they were all shit. And that Paradox is trying to come up with a concept of a game that would include everything World of Darkness has to offer, not just vampires, and so far they can't do it.
That's good though, I'd rather wait and keep enjoying VTMB than to have a spiritual successor come out and be shit.
Does anyone actually enjoy oWoD outside of Vampire?
Wraith and Demon are enjoyable, Mage players also swear by it.
exactly, you don't want them to rush out.
before this there was only the eve-mmo style game in the works that was cancelled. now we know there will be one world of darkness which can possibly incorporate every white wolf ip from mages to werewolfs
the video above also directly responds to the "will there be a bloodlines 2"
>before this there was only the eve-mmo style game in the works that was cancelled.
That was so disappointing. After like 10 years they only showed clothing physics and architecture.
at least the current owners own all of those assets, they used them to make the trailer
>mortal mages with shitty reality warping magic that you can never use or paradox into oblivion
>no stronger in practice than a vanilla mortal
>trade that garbage for infinite life and spells that now actually do things, throw fireballs with impunity and watch Mage tears flow
>"b-but muh paradox!"
>know that as a starting dot neonate you're stronger than a Mage with hundreds of XP
Just bad timing, unfortunately. CCP wasn't in a good position money wise at the time and had to cancel it and refocus their efforts on Eve.
Eve is fun, the only sandbox MMO that hasn't shit itself yet, but I would have played the fuck out of WoD had it been released
What trailer?
The only good vampire game is blood omen and you cannot prove me wrong.
at the end of the presentation
Anyone keeping an eye out for that Vampyr thing?
I'm not holding out hope for it, but I'm kind of interested to see where the story will lead.
Thought it might be cool until I saw who's developing it
>know that as a starting dot neonate you're stronger than a Mage with hundreds of XP
And are also a complete slave stuck in a pyramid scheme that will never pay off.
Enjoy your third eye, diablerist.
>Tremere
>Not Brujah with the Ventrue skin.
Yeah.
Creators of the most forgettable game they named Remember Me and that Life is Strange thing which I have no idea what is about, but it has nothing which interests me whatsoever by the looks of things and the threads that discussed it on Sup Forums.
All of the settings have their charm, some more than others.
Werewolf: This would be fun, but it really attracts the worst sort of degenerate players. Especially the Kinfolk. I suppose when you create a special race of creatures whose superpower is they can successfully mate with furry rage monsters, you're guaranteed to attract a certain type. Further, good luck finding anyone willing to RP out Rage. "I'm a Rage 4 model / social dilettante Galliard :^)"
Changeling: This game doesn't seem to know if it wants to be the grimdark story of dark fae creatures stealing into the souls of unborn babies and playing out the more twisted brothers grimm stories... or lighthearted "let's play pranks on teacher! XDDDD" crap. I personally blame the Pooka for it. As always, furries will ruin anything good.
Mage: The best part of Mage is that Demon came along and shat all over their setting. All of them were wrong, the Choristers were right, the Christian God is real and their Avatars are just dead angel soul fragments. At best Ascension is just empowering the Avatar enough to reform, deleting the Mage from existence. The big Archmage payoff at the end is a no-go. Of course, this is ignored by the collective Mage playerbase who will sit there comparing their "potential power" to every other setting until its pointed out, then act like Mage lore is in a vacuum and the other settings that contradict it don't exist.
Demon/Hunter/Orpheus: The best polished, and most fleshed out of the game series, especially Orpheus. They're the only ones with quality approaching Vampire and my strongest recommendation for anyone looking to dabble outside. Their lore also reinforces Vampire lore and doesn't get destroyed the way Werewolves and Mages do.
What about Wraith?
>90s city
I fell for the same mistake.
Game is set in 2004.
Please ignore the cyber cafes.
It's very modern, but for some reason Lacroix doesn't even bother giving you a smartphone.
yeah it was
Not him, but Wraith has the most creative and completely in depth setting and lore, but is difficult to actually play. It's by far the most grim setting, but is also the only one with a genuine hope of redemption/transcendence.
This is the setting where the first emperor of China is the undisputed ruler of the Asian dead, and is currently planning on using a billion sentient souls to make a palace forest for his own personal enjoyment.
>1 dot blood bond
Eh, that's about as much as a Vaulderie score. I can live with being partial to one Vampire in exchange for actually being allowed to use my super powers.
>someone pulls a gun on a Mage in the street
>Mage tries to cast, explodes himself
>someone pulls a gun on a Tremere in the street
>Tremere calls down lightning, throws fire, boils his blood, teleports, turns him into a frog, turns him into a mindless slave, magics up a bazooka, makes his arm wither off, or a million other Tremere spells with no side effect or consequence to the caster
>2004
>Smartphone
I might just be behind on technology but I don't recall smartphones in 2004. At best I would think you'd get a flip phone.
Wraith is a lot more fun to read than to play. Orpheus is a huge leap forward in that department.
South region must be filled with gangrel
>reading about all the bullshit Vampire powers/disciplines
>reach the Lasombra section
They can literally blot out the fucking sun.
They can move/teleport through shadows.
How the fuck aren't these guys at the top of the food chain?
Tremere calls down lightning, throws fire, boils his blood, teleports, turns him into a frog, turns him into a mindless slave, magics up a bazooka, makes his arm wither off, or a million other Tremere spells with no side effect or consequence to the caster
Except burning through all of your blood.
All of this requires hundreds of XP and being even more bloodbound to the Society of Vampire Dorks.
>want to play this game
>get spooked easily
how do i avoid all the spooky shit in this game
I like the game, but no...
Well maybe not a 2016 smartphone but they had proper cameras and stuff then.
Learning ALL of it, sure. But any one spell there would do and most would be achievable with a handful of XP or even starting dots. And casting a single spell isn't going to burn through your blood.
Face it, Tremere are just Mages that are worthwhile. Mages are conceptual fun. The belief that if everything lines up properly and the dice don't fuck you then maybe you could potentially...
Whereas Tremere just work. 9 times out of 10 a Tremere with equal or even less XP than a Mage will beat the Mage and it won't even be close.
Meditate in real life to build mental fortitude
>Dot out the sun
No, they can cover an area in darkness for a short while.
>They can move/teleport through shadows.
Gangrel can teleport through the ground, without being killed by sunlight. They must be the ones in charge, right?
>How the fuck aren't these guys at the top of the food chain?
Because they are suicidally cocky and dysfunctional and constantly get their shit handed to them.
>You foolish indolent petty savage animal idiots! I can blend with the very shadows! Rend you asunder with the complete edge of darkness!
>*sets shadow on fire*
Yeah you can tell the game was being rushed at this point, though strangely it gets a little better afterwards. Chinatown isn't terrible. But I'm still glad that I can get through it as quickly as possible and learned to avoid fighting the enemies in the sewer for the most part.
they did exist in 2004 (earlier actually), the likes of palm and blackberry effectively dominated that scene, everything else was a gimmickphone or a flipphone.
Why are you getting spooked if you play as a monster yourself?
Tremere are mages except they have other mages tell them what to do instead of reality.
>Tremere just work
Historically they don't.
You are literally falling for the same trick as mages. All of those powers require an immense amount of time, experience, blood, and dedication (which translates into sucking elder cock until they bother to teach you anything).
impossible
sorry for a somewhat late response but i thought i felt a spider on my leg and freaked out desu
LOL i was 3 in 2004
shit is old
