Game has a joke skill/item

>game has a joke skill/item
>it actually becomes incredibly strong in a certain build
What are some games that do this?

I've heard before that the shit shield in Bloodborne that is basically just there as a middle finger to people who want one is actually decent in PvP or something.

The Exxpcalibur in Dying Light is also fantastic. It's meant to give you tons of experience when killing enemies, but it breaks super quick and doesn't do much damage then. But if you use the strong attack skill with that weapon (broken or not) it can ragdoll enemies so hard it either flings them away from you or outright kills them due to the impact to a wall or floor. I used it all the time since it'd launch enemies even though it was broken.

Tales of zestiria

I remember some soul caliber 2 joke weapons being useful

The shield is great at reducing most bullet damage/riposting to nothing if you use it right.

Dog Residue in Undertale is like this. It's basically just a joke item, but the shit it creates when used can be sold infinitely for as much money as you want. Add to it a chance to get a healing item that heals a random amount. While the random healing factor can fuck you over it still is basically infinite, so who cares.

Not to say Undertale is difficult enough to warrant its use, but it does still break any small amount of difficulty the game did have.

>The gun you get from the pinnochio quest in Borderlands 2
>Has fake stats
>The first time you shoot it you think it sucks because it basically does no damage
>Realize that the bullets bounce and after it hits the wall/ground it does an assload of damage.
That thing was so good

Banana peels are extremely robust in SS13. Especially in servers that haven't removed sliplocking yet.
Even without sliplocking, splashing water on the ground is still pretty goddamn effective.

Verdict Day Target Guns

Portrait of Ruin has a cream pie as a subweapon for Johnathan. It's about as useful as it sounds, except that it's Dark element, which the Richter boss is weak against, and it travels in an arc which makes it perfect for dodging his attacks.

I think there was a build with duel broken straight swords in Dark Souls 2. They were crazy powerful when infused with mundane and at a very high level (we're talking 300+)

...

>that filter
kill yourself, underage

Shield is good vs Kos, as it blocks one of his attacks.

It's not my picture, I grabbed it from the wiki, blame whoever allowed it.

hadoken and shoryuken in MMX games

Final Fantasy Tactics has two versions of a legendary weapon, one being a joke, but still incredibly useful with certain skills.

The most notable example is Dark Cloud 2's weapon build up system, where most of Max's weapons can be used jokingly at an early part of the game, but come equipped with badges, giving them extensive properties.

>joke mascot character
>is the strongest character in game by far

Wooden Sword in Ninja Gaiden Black becomes the Unlabored Flawlessness if you upgrade it all the way.

Well don't use it at all you cum guzzling faggot.

>Joke character evolves into something badass later on
>power creep causes the badass to become a joke too

Master Kettleblower in MH3U can abuse status effects like nobody's business

I miss when the solution to the power creep was a third stage evo that still lets the previous evo be viable instead of megas

Oh yeah. There were also the corn gunlances which were good against crimson fatalis.

Ed Edd n Eddy Online

more like his shit typing made him super counter able from the start.

Still my favorite pokemon tho

>Mega changes his typing
>it's still absolute shit typing

Hey, at least they made Feraligatr a sort-of replacement with it's amazing hidden ability

>Lower powered weapons are actually better in most situations because skills and all of the restrictions placed on the stronger weapons
I liked this in Fire Emblem Fates

I assume you're talking about if you keep Plank past the starting zone, it eventually gets upgraded to one of the strongest one-handed blunt weapons in game if you beat Eddy's brother and socket it with the Emerald Jawbreaker.

Dan from Street Fighter

You know it senpai

>power creep

if by power creep you mean "he was shit until gen 3 gave him stupidly powerful ability and was top tier for 10 years" then yeah i guess he was "power creeped"
