>game tries to be clever and breaks the 4th wall >it says no matter what I do I no longer have control >"Oh really?" >Ctrl + Alt + Del, force-quit, uninstall game
Ah, what do you know, I still had control all along!
If this isn't your response every time this shit happens, you're doing it wrong.
Blake Torres
>implying you weren't supposed to do that
Christopher Richardson
such a badass
Nathan Diaz
Congratulations user! you are now superior to a videogame! feel free to celebrate!!!
Cooper Miller
woah thats so fucking cool man! i gotta try this!
Adrian Ortiz
>that one part in genocide where they want you to exit the game and uninstall it
What would you do in this situation op?
Connor Barnes
Holy fucking shit user! You fucking showed them! Y-you did refund it and get your precious, shiny dollars back, right?
Gabriel Rogers
I know OP. I dont like it when my vidya tries to do something uncommon either
Bentley Green
You're not getting it. Once a game tries being "clever" like this, it stops addressing the player character. it instead breaks the 4th wall to challenge the human player directly. However, human players are far more powerful than the in-game character. By the player responding seriously, you're challenging and taking on exactly what the game dares you to do.
You can't argue it's foul play or against the spirit of the game, because the game is the one who broke the rules first. And if it's a competition between a bunch of lines of code a living human, the human will obviously win. What I'm saying is that as a writing device, this cliche is retarded and self-defeating.
Nicholas Rodriguez
>people praise this game for "super spooky fourth wall breaking!" >many games before it have done this, and it's super easy to implement
Why does Tumblr do this?
Nolan Watson
Its a just videogame, you autist
Ethan Moore
What if the game installs a virus that formats all your hard drive partitions if you try to close the game? Who wins now, faggot?
Aiden Rogers
So... you challenged a bunch of lines of code and you won? CONGRATULATIONS
Andrew Parker
...
Henry Parker
>if you play the game you lose cool... have fun i guess?
Dylan Miller
BTW
Brayden Harris
No, it challenged me first. It's entirely its fault that it lost. It's like some kid picking a fight with an adult at a bar.
Noah Baker
Why so much Undertale bait threads today? Is it the same guy?
Ryan Gutierrez
Good luck, I'm sitting behind 7 proxies.
Henry Bennett
You could've just said "I don't like games that break the fourth wall" and not sounded like a complete autist.
William Murphy
Its true, its just lines of code challenging a fat blob, its fairly not fair, autism is a great disadvantage
Ayden Bennett
Is there a game where the player can break the 4th wall?
Landon Jenkins
>Game is aware it's a piece of software
Absolutely nothing wrong with this.
Daniel Ward
Because it doesn't really break 4th wall all that often. People just think it does, because it addresses the player's actions and responds to their choices.
AAA games have diluted the gameplay part of games so much, that people think good design = 4th wall breaking.
Ryder Flores
Bro, it's not just Undertale. For example, pic related is a far more egregious example.
Oliver Garcia
What in the fuck? Is this pasta?
Mason Brown
>Superhot >Not the tightest shit
Dylan Brooks
I fucking hate you. I hate that you thought this was an impressive thing to do. I hate that you are so insecure you had to come to fucking Sup Forums to brag about your attempt at being a rebel. I hate that I've got diarrhea right now and it's over for the moment but I haven't even wiped my hairy asshole because of how angry your post made me.
Dominic Thompson
I liked it, but the story was awful
Cameron Wilson
But that is literally what the game wanted you to do.
If you close the game, the game wins.
Gabriel Fisher
...
Charles Brooks
>breaking the 4th wall is uncommon proof underfaggots are all tumblr hambeasts who have never played a single game in their life
