I don't think Gunvolt is necessarily good, but it succeeds by hitting the presentation standards it set for itself and not making itself into a media circus, cut content aside. It doesn't look offensively hideous, panders to the audience it wants, and has decent music.

I'll enjoy the physical pack with both game they'll release

Gunvolt felt average. I didn't enjoy the combat too much because you were more focused on dodging and holding the zap trigger than dodging and counter attack

Gunvolt wasn't great, but it was a much better game than MN9 and actually felt like it tried to build on the Mega Man franchise rather than just rip it off.

Fuck that Monster Hunter loot shit, though.

The good thing is that the dude with the shield looks like he plays like regular megaman with ridiculous air dashes in GV2

Gunvolt "gimmick" is more annoying than the dash thing in M.N.9

i just want something like Megaman Zero again...

1-Gunvolt has better and balanced level design
2-The game actually rewards you for using your dash.
3-It have more dialogues to know about the world and its characters.
4-Better presentation right from the start.
5-Polished gameplay.
6-No bad hit boxes
7-No frame perfect sections
8-Better soundtrack
Mighty No9 level are short and easy. if wasn't for the insta death hazards that involves frame/time perfect on the same level of Willy's castles/Sigma Palace/Weil on every level people would finish it in less than 1 hour. Also the hazards and enemy placement makes the whole "cool dash" of mn9 useless and rage inducing 80% of the time. and if you are in a angular plataform you can't do a jump after dashing which leads to increase the numbers of insta death on the final section of Pyro stage

I didn't think the game was all that good. Better than mighty no. 9? Definitely. But, outside of boss fights the game was lacking. The platforming was weak and the enemy patters were boring.

IMO Gunvolt's tag has the opposite problem of allowing you to avoid putting yourself in harm's way outside of when your tags wear off. Plus everything looks stylish in Gunvolt, but it can make it really hard to see what the fuck is going on sometimes- again the opposite problem of MN9, where they went out of their way to "highlight" every fucking thing and the game ends up looking terrible (shiny outline around Beck, purple spikes etc).

I mean, I hear a lot of people saying the Megaman formula was stale and they need to innovate, but it feels like all the stuff they add on just make the game annoying to play. There's nothing wrong with the simple run and gun formula as long as you make good stages- it's not like Shovel Knight did anything radically new and people like that game just fine.

Shovel Knight had its own twists on the formula, they just never killed pacing.

Because it wasn't kickstarted and nobody expected it to be amazing.

Eh, I dunno, I guess the way they handled checkpoints was unique, but outside of that it seems like pretty typical stuff for a side-scroller. I don't remember any of the power-ups being particularly unique.
