>playing KOF XIII's tutorial mode >just learned how to move forward, jump, and block >then they pull this shit on you
Seriously what the fuck. I'm only just learning how to play a fighting game. Don't ask me to do Kyo's Ura Hyaku-Hachi Shiki Orochinagi all of a sudden like that.
I don't even know how to pronounce it. They don't even list the motion for it so you have to look it up. You can't complete the tutorial until after you've done Kyo's Ura Hyaku-Hachi Shiki Orochinagi, which probably isn't even made up of real words and is some random gibberish thrown together. I thought I was playing this game IN ENGLISH.
This is how SNK is keeping casuals out of fighting games.
KoF is tuff. Probably the hardest 2D series that had any lifespan that wasn't SF or MK.
Dylan Johnson
This might sound outlandish to you but bear with me: You can check the character's moveset by pressing start.
I know it's hard and all to discover this incredibly hidden feature, but please have patience.
Matthew Cruz
You know that there is a movelist in game right?
Benjamin Gomez
Which button is that?
Caleb Nelson
>He can't read or even do the 裏百八式 大蛇薙
100年早い
Ryan Martinez
He has a point in saying it, if i'm understanding it properly. Its odd it doesn't get listed underneath the tutorial text like a lot of games had started doing a while back.
But is this a KoF thread?
Cardman is my fighterfu. Shame he'll probably not come back.
Joseph Hughes
What is a movelist and where do you find it?
Wait, better yet, why am I playing "Where's the movelist?" I thought I was playing a fighting game.
There's no reason why it shouldn't be explained in the tutorial.
Robert Johnson
Remove Okinawa
Cameron Taylor
And the reason it wasn't listed in the tutorial, is?
Nolan Sanchez
The tutorial doesn't tell you you have to use a controller either. It says "press thing" but not where to press it. It doesn't also tell you how to exit from the game, how to go into the options, how to turn your system on and off, etc. Also it gives you the command for the move right after the fucking message.
Jace Lopez
git gud
Christian White
Did the goverment put something in your water or you are this stupid every day?
Noah Powell
Are you Caucasian or stupid
Daniel Stewart
At least they're bringing back my favorite Mexican

That's not even the good part.

Took me twenty fucking minutes to do that shit, i didn't think they wanted you to destroy your d-pad THAT fast.
Aaron Turner
Post Athena.
Fire! Fire! Psycho Soldier!
Dylan Ramirez
No, we post Yuri.
Angel Reyes
Angel?
Brandon Murphy
I tried for 30 minutes and gave up.
Do you need an arcade stick for KOF? I'm playing on a pad, but I can't do all those crazy drive cancels fast enough.
Not draw that well but it's my favorite pic of Angel
Brody Davis

If you think a stick makes shit better, go eat a dick, you ain't ever gonna be good enough for EVO anyways.
Evan Thomas
Athena.
Easton Clark
At least they probably talk about games.
Logan Howard
Yuri.
Carter Sanchez
God fucking dammit I'll uninstall.
Jason Powell
>Thinking using a stick changes anything Unless you are playing characters that require pianoing or some shit you can easily play fighters with Pad no problem
Dominic James
Athena.
Jose Evans
Why? You don't have to do the tutorial.
Kevin Bennett
IIRC that game doesn't tell you which button to press and only "kick" or "punch" or things like that, right?
Joshua Wright
Yuri.
Anthony Roberts
The game gives you the command, user is just being retarded.
Faggots like OP should be grateful for fighting games nowdays have tutorials.
Kevin Gonzalez
Nope.
A,B,C and D.

Julian Adams
Should have made it clear that I was talking about menues and not fighting itself (which is okay). Can be confusing at times, but maybe I'm thinking of a different game. It's been a while.
But while we're at it, what's the general opinion on Elisabeth? I had fun playing her.
Landon Peterson
She's never coming back, is she?
Blake Sanders
>21 years old. >still acts like a kid.
Athena also takes the cake too, she is 18 and still dresses a sailor fuku.At least Kyo just admits that he dropped the school.
Brandon Davis
She is perfect.
Shut up.
Gavin Cox
OP as someone genuinely trying to get into fighting games myself over this summer sale, do what I did and pickup skullgirls. Base game is like $2 and has a pretty great tutorial. Some of it I can't do yet and I can just skip to the next step.
I have literally never played a fighting game before, and I'm learning steadily. By no means will I be good, but I can atleast understand things thanks to it.
Nathaniel Turner
I never played her.
But i dislike counter-specials. Athena.
Josiah Perez
>pic related >yuri At least she doesn't dress in a sailor fuku

Joseph Smith
Do not listen to this person.
Joseph Martinez
What did he mean by this?
Carson Jackson
Should I get XIV even though I'm shit at fightan' games right now? If it helps, I can actually perform a dragon punch and not whine that it looks too hard to input.
Michael Gonzalez
decide for yourself moron
Jack Torres
Yuri!
Thomas Diaz
It's pretty good.
You should just use someone with simple inputs like Athena, Kyo or Yuri.
Athena.
Jaxson Turner
Have you considered gitting gud, OP? Executing combos is the easiest part of any fighting game
Gabriel Evans
All fighters are entry level fighters, multiplayer isn't however.
Leo Price
anyone have links to the ceo footage for XIV? last i heard it was getting taken down before i had the chance to watch any of it
Austin Sanchez
Nice meme.
Xavier Phillips
>pantsu
Brandon Perez
Stay out of the genre if you're too stupid to come to terms with this.
No game is going to wave a move list in your face 14 installments in.
More or less, KoF have some stuff like hop and some other minor mechanics. But the basic mechanics is pretty much the same since 96-97.
It's not a good entry level fighting but still fun to play.
Grayson Anderson
But that's how PC game should handle showing inputs. I have PS3/360/PC stick, I know which button is A on xbox/X on PS3, but PC sees it as button [2]. So if game starts to show me random numbers, like Injustice did, I'm totally lost.
Injustice gets additional bullshit points for having quick time events with that bullshit.
Especially with fighting games where people use all kinds of input devices, the developer shouldn't make any assumptions.
James Adams
No one likes a mad shitter, OP.
Jose Walker
>associating the waifufags who comprise everyone otb who actually plays that piece of shit SFV with actual SF players
Nolan Harris
>I have never sucked cock before but I'm learning steadily
Christian Allen
...
Evan Thompson
I don't give a shit about the competitive scene you cuck, I'm using the game as a learning tool, then likely to try out other games once I've got a handle.
Austin Nelson
Dude if you really want to adapt to the games AND enjoy your purchase, just dick around in SP for a while enjoying the shitty AI before doing so becomes a liability to your skill level (which it doesn't yet, since you're ass regardless)
Then hop online and get bodied and start trying to learn from your mistakes even though you'll probably start out getting stomped too hard. But this is normal and a place to work from
Then you can go one of two routes: start watching Youtube videos of pros who use your character and literally just copy them like a total meme slut faggot, or hold that L to your chest and find your own ways of adapting around your personal shortcomings and accept the fact that some people are just better than you. But don't run away, keep playing them if you find someone really good, and do your best to beat them for as long as you can
Jonathan Bell
A daily reminder Blazblue/Virtual Fighter4:EVO/Skullgirls have the best tutorial mode.
Colton Stewart
Serious question honestly. Why Kyo's moves have so complicated names? is there a lore reason?
or was just to complement the reasoning back in 94 to have such retarded inputs for some of the moves.
Cooper Stewart
Your just an EOP plebian, continue being retarded.
Xavier Smith
It always had that name. It just says: 108 Shiki Orochinagi.
Nicholas Rivera
There is a lore reason. Orochinagi is so named because it's what he used to defeat Orochi back in the first story arc.
KoF actually has (or used to have) kinda cool lore reasons for changes in actual movesets, like Iori injuring Kyo's hands so that he stopped being able to use ground fireballs and got rekkas instead
Eli Davis
It's bad advice.
Lucas Thomas
this tee bee eigtch
Not a lot of what you will learn in Skull Girls will carry over into other FGs. It has a lot of its own esoteric systems.
Jackson Perry
That shit is not hard to learn.
Of course, multiplayer will always be hard to play, because better players will always stomp the weaker. That's just the nature of competitive play, but flicking the stick upward to hop and buffering supers to combo into them are not hard.
Besides, >hardest 2D series >what is GG and MvC2?
Lucas Lee
killer instincts is really good too
Jacob Phillips
holy shit I hope you are baiting
Leo Hughes
>multiplayer will always be hard to play, because better players will always stomp the weaker
Oliver Bell
Where's "start"? What is even "start" on this thing? The tutorial should show me where this "start" thing is! I thought I was playing a fighting game, not a starting game!
Brandon Cook
the bait is so bad I won't even spare a reaction pic
seriously man, at least bad trolling attempts should be funny
Xavier Carter
The tutorial didn't teach me how to troll.
Colton Sanchez
Actually the real reason why it's called Orochinagi (Great Serpent Mower) is because it's a reference to Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, the legendary sword which Susanoo found from within Orochi's body. He gave it to Amaterasu and she gave it to a Japanese emperor who was later lured onto a field which was set on fire by a traitor. The emperor used the sword to cut down (mow) the grass and found out that it can also control winds. He used the wind to move the fire towards the traitor and burned him.
John Reyes
Who's this drill goddess?
Nicholas Ortiz
okay, nice one
Gabriel Sanders
>like Iori injuring Kyo's hands so that he stopped being able to use ground fireballs and got rekkas instead
That's not the reason, Kyo was attacked by Goenitz before 96 and got hospitalized. He then decided to learn new techniques because the old ones didn't work against Goenitz.
Benjamin Lopez
Rose
Isaiah Murphy
casual filter the tutorial
Tyler Parker
Good tutorial doesn't filter casuals, good tutorial teaches them play properly. KoF XIII's tutorial does jack and shit.
Jason Scott
>playing a Japanese fighting game >surprised to see Japanese words This never bothers Mexicans. You gringos are whiny bitches.
Camden Murphy
Using a stick does make executing your moves much easier. You might as well not even play the game if your logic is "well I can't beat those Chinese guys anyway, so I'm not going to bother putting in any effort". That's like saying "I can't become a pro bowler, so I'll just wear my tennis shoes whenever I do play" So why is that guy having problems? The build quality is pretty low on a regular PS3 or 360 controller and pulling off longer combos is kind of hard in something like KoF. I guess it is fine for Skullgirls, though.
