Does anyone have that thread saved where someone had built an entire civilization within terraria. I remember reading about how he had something like 25 000 characters and over 6000 hours played. He apparently made character bios for each and every single one of the characters he has created or some thing retarded like that.
Does anyone have that thread saved where someone had built an entire civilization within terraria...
Other urls found in this thread:
bumping for interest, sounds neat
That would be some severe autism
>25000 characters
>6000 hours
So he only played each character for 20 minutes? What's the point?
From what i remember, he has more then one game open at a time somehow
Woah jesus fuck where is this coming from? Why do the numbers keep getting bumped up every time?
He had like 3000 characters and not even 3000 hours last I checked.
Forgot the image.
Ho ly fuck
Autists like him make this world truly great
The "Terraria autist" here, just woke up only to be have to see this thread again. Please stop posting this.
I'll have you informed I have stopped playing Terraria until I get 16gb more ram, despite having a 20k computer it starts to lag at 30 players at same time and still haven't figure out what the problem is. I have yet to experience a full scale war not requiring dividing up the war into small scale battles
thanks man
>please stop posting this
It's too late.
You're about as famous as Tilefucker now.
give us an update and I will suck your dick
somebody make the new iceberg graph
When I first played the world seen in the picture, technology advanced too quick. I never really got to enjoy a dussin low tech swordsmen and wooden bowmen fighting over territory. The pre-modern age with guns came abit too early, and i didnt get to explore the King Arthur knight campaign or the pagan vikings expansion, before it was already Soviet-like-state vs Shady sands kingdom (its like america but run by italians, owned by royalty with 400hp and super weapons)
I have started a new world filled with Romans, arctic tribes, forest elves, irish people etc and just learning to make an anvil is a huge advancement. I want to play out tribal medieval warfare a long time before the modern age/future age arrives.
I just realize I will sink atleast 3 more years into this new world and its hard to get out of it, and I'm having an identity crisis and want to have children before it's too late. I cannot stop time and play through the entire world campaigns without aging drasticly. So much fun, but so much time will be sacrificed.
...
Not even being sarcastic but this sounds absolutely amazing, like write a book about it. Its how George RR started
What the fuck I can't believe something like this can exist, the most interesting thing for me isn't even the why he's doing this shit, but why he is so into Italian stuff.
This isn't even the cool autism that ends with something funny or tragic(interesting) like Chris-chan or with nice buildings. It's just the regular shitty autism
You said you felt like your real body was aging and slowly rotting while you were mentally detached and living in the terraria world. Have you had any episodes where this freaked you out and made you panic? I had a very similar situation and used to get panic attacks over this every few minutes, over and over. It was really bad.
Don't mention writing, he gets triggered by it.
I honestly think this'll be better
I think you should write a book on the subject, maybe society could learn from you like Robert Stroud
I'm writing down storylines, guilds, cults, quests, characters and events for a video game that will probably never see the light of day. I'm 5 large notepads in and do it every night.
Considering starting of easy by learning 3d modelling, and make a cheap marine vs alien game for about 2 bucks to put on steam, and gradually ease my way into producing video games.
The pipe dream is something like morrowind, but much larger world, functioning economics, ruthless permadeath, hundreds of groups to join, religious ties etc, and a hierchy system you can climb up as. Starting off as a farmer, but possible to end up as king.
I read alot of pages regarding history of the italian mafia, and watched alot of boardwalk empire + mafia movies while I created these characters.
They just happened to be good at gaining control over neighbourhoods, gun-business and real-estate so they became major players in the capitol city. Unfortunaly, black people united, after serving as mercenaries for the Blood Gulch, a foreign nation, they recieved weapon and financial aid (the blacks did) and started a war with italians which lead to Martial Law being declared and curfew.
Other civilizations benefit from making Shady sands unstable and they take the chance.
Never had any panic, just looking at the mirror seeing how unhealthy i have become or wondering where 3-4 years passed so quickly, tells me to leave this wonderful world of Terraria. I really wish I could stop time and play through an entire campaign, I don't even know who will win, or what will happen, it's part of the things that make it so great.
Seeing your favorite character, with great storyline, mining for a week, get rich, well connected and powerful get blown it pieces is part of the action.
i think it's actually quite fascinating, it's like the man has somehow discovered the secret to being infinitely entertained by his own imagination through a medium most people would be bored with within a mere fraction of his time played. I would love to read more about this actually, if he is willing to post more.

Do you want to work on a video game with me? The engine is being released soon.
>you will never be this autistic
Most abstract feel I have felt in some time.
Do you have backups? if so how many do you have and how often do you make them?
Speaking of autism
Christ almighty.
I understand what you mean by wondering how time went by so fast. Many fantasy greats like R.R. martin and Tolkien felt the same writing their epics, when making something great you put yourself into as well.
are you hosting servers often?
He's here.
In this thread.
Right now.
i'm out.
Looks really nice post more.
I've decided to spend the entire upcoming winter, modelling basic stuff such as rockformation, walls etc, already started. I hope to model all resources, crates, weapons, character and make a collected bank of it, then when the time has come, I will hire a programmer to make sure things work as they should. I had experience in leveldesign and modding. Planning on going with unity, topographical, simple game.
I've lost one of my earliest precious world (my first world ever) during an electrical outtage. Yes I have all files backup on C, D and my usb.
This is simply the greatest interest piece I have ever read, you are not autistic; you are an artist. Be proud of the world you have created in such a limited medium.
>you are not autistic
let's not kid ourselves here
I am a javascript programmer if you're really set on unity. But I think this engine might interest you.
Either way do you have any contact info?
>seeing all these comfy homes
>mfw I will never be creative
damn I wish I could be that dedicated. I have a hard timing even getting started on some shitty RPG maker game
There are no comfy homes in this thread. Only autism flourishes here.
Also you forgot your face.
>bashing on Loli Rape Sim dev
Fucker's dedicated. It's people like him, and that one fucker I saw a Youtube video of who created a huge-ass fucking map of a fantasy world in his head who have the dedication to tap into themselves and create something. Sure, it's not something others may be able to enjoy but the fact that it's of such scope and with so much care into it, you have to at least appreciate the fact that they're passionate about what they're doing.
>you will never be determined enough to dedicate your life, blood, sweat and soul into a single thing
Who says I'm bashing? It's just extreme autism put into great use.
most artists(painters/writers) are autistic
why terraria and not minecraft?
What the fuck is a commieblock?
is the game out yet?
the shitty square houses people tend to make when not putting effort in when building in terraria
When you just jam a bunch of squares together with the absolute bare minimum required to house an NPC. Bonus points if it makes zero structural sense and has no individual flourishes.
Some people have a tendency to confuse apartment buildings and gulags for commieblocks.
blocks made in terraria like old 60's soviet homes, exactly identical and completely square
This is some sick shit, but you gotta give the man some credit, he's really dedicated and passionate about it.
multiple squares stacked on or around each other, usually to maximize efficiency and minimize time spent building
personally I don't see anything wrong with them if you don't like building and just want to kill shit, which is mostly what terraria is about, but if you're making a full blown autismo world like that guy has, commieblocks just seem lazy and out of place
God's perspective.
I don't really know, I'm waiting until winter before I start to churn out production at a serious rate. I appriciate the offer but wouldnt post private information on this board.
The first rpg maker that was translated by some BR, was the first connection to the massive surge of autism/fun, I just played and built with RPG maker for years, I was about 10 or 11 back then.
Minecraft is too limited, Terraria is unlimited
I like the genetics part
I'm confused, is there some kind of AI controlling the characters or is the guy literally manually controlling them all and making a story?
>you will never be this dedicated and passionate about something
He literally switches to a character when he needs to interact. He talks about it in the post.
Latter.
Hey there, Terraria Autistic. Keep doing what makes you happy man. At least your not going around shooting up schools and clubs. But I believe that with the amount of hours you had spent in Terraria can also be used to make you more successful in you life like construction and things like that.
All I wish for is the best of luck in your life man and I hope that you actually see this post.
is this what happens when you're born rich and autistic
This Terraria autist is hilarious, but I can't help but be really jealous that they can enjoy one game this much
>Minecraft is too limited, Terraria is unlimited
Now I find this very interesting. I've come to understand from your work that Terraria is a great game for building story and history, however the game is only 2-d with limited world space, so I what happens when you run out of resources? when the last ore is mined?
I honestly believe this is the greatest fantasy history I have ever heard, so intricate and organic.
you make a new map and mine resources there and bring them back
thats also why i hate minecraft you cant jump maps and eventually there's an end of resources.
also item degredation is stupid
Not terraria autist here, but if I run out of something in Terraria I just make a new world and use the same character.
I remember constantly making small worlds and running to fight the skeleton head just so I could ass blast the dungeon for all the loot, then delete the world and go back to my original world and emptying my inventory.
You can never really run out of anything.
Holy shit man, how much do I have to pay you for you to make a twitter or some blog about your progress.
I am genuinely fascinated by you and your work.
Also
>tfw born autistic
>tfw no cool autism skills, like extremely high IQ, good at math, programming god, etc
>poor and abusive family
just kill me now
nothing makes up for my autism
right but I wonder how that would fit into the story
>make a "hub world" (all NPCs and where your storage shit is)
>make a new, smaller world
>do adventuran there, making small camps at the foot of the dungeon(s) and other safety points
just think of it as a different part of the world.
I only come to Sup Forums anymore because I know autism overlords like that guy exist and post here, so it makes me feel a bit better about my own social awkwardness: at least I'm not THAT bad.
Fucking this. Post updates on Twitter. Do daily updates about the story. Make a patreon i, and others would help support you doing this
How do you do it? Playing Terraria that way and missing out on so much new and old vidya you could be discovering.
It makes sense considering that a good chunk of the characters in his world are poor fuckers that just mines or chop trees all day
Hey Terraria Autist, how much time do you spend playing Terraria per day? Who's has been your favorite character so far? And I saw that you've watched Boardwalk Empire so have you created any character based on Jimmy Darmody? Also, do you keep a track of blood lines to see who descends from who?
They just make me feel worse about myself. That guy might be a weirdo but at least he's passionate about something. I have nothing like that.
I honestly hope to live to see the day your dream comes true. Because that kinda game sounds awesome. Good luck to you.
>urine flow rates

Magna-fucking-santi
What a ride
Thank you, aiming to produce content for other players to take part, if I suceed. Great questlines, interesting powerstructures fighting each other in different areas, race war, financial war, psychological war, blackmail and sabotage, lots of intrigue, is guarenteed on success.
If not I still have the enjoyment of Terraria. Gotta start of with babysteps if I want to go into game development. Something generic and simple at first.
>so I what happens when you run out of resources? when the last ore is mined?
Resource scarcity? Oh boy, my mouth just waters of the prospects. Anything from Mad Max, to a selected elite of Oligarchs hogging up the resources and a new slave class killing each other/dystopian nightmare.
There is already a conspiracy in place to remove the knowledge of magic from the world, so future generations will never know about the magical weapons or abilities since it will be hidden away.
In the beginning, everyone could claim any plot and mine wherever, now, big corporations own the land and mining holes, and workers only get a percentage of what they mine. Soon, overpopulation will ensue and everyone will work for pennies.
This part is also interesting, if everyone works for pennies in a horrible abusive system, how do you get rich? Pioneering! Some people will become mindless criminals or working drones, others will invent wings, invest in real-estate, a new gun, or start their own bank. It's like a battle of the minds finding out new revolutionairy ways to earn money. Wooden airplanes have been invented and will become the popular ways of transport, for a fee of course.
Soon someone will invent a subway station and make bank.
The freedom of the people is diminishing strongly in most areas of the Terraria world.
Then maybe you should quit being a melodramatic twat and starting developing a game. Unity is so easy that somebody with down syndrome could utilize it.
But I don't want to make video games
I bet you're really fun at parties.
I do alright
Your raw passion is infecting me. Your so balls to the walls crazy and loving it. So much so that I can't help but feel as though I'm wasting my life. I've always wanted to be a programmer but I never felt as though I had the drive and passion to develop any skill in it. I almost feel as if I can do it now. I really wish I was a more knowledgeable writer because I don't even know how to put what I feel right now into words. I guess inspired?
How do I become as good at orchestrating stories as you?
This guy is my fucking hero, I'll remember you.
You realize people write worlds like this all the time? My D&D group Nd I have been playing in the same shared persistent world for 20+ years and have written entire novels worth of RP logs to catalogue the breadth of events that have happened there.
There's also that story of the guy who's been writing a story about the space Who's since the 4th grade.
Your D&D group isn't one guy playing every character in a 3500 player group.
That is Shady Sands Kingdom, it's considered the capitol city of the world, most powerful, high ingenuity scale regarding inventions and progress. It's powerful like America.
It has the highest density of any place so yeah most of it is commie blocks.
If you visit the other civilizations you will see castles, huts, mansions etc.
I played many games in my life, and when I saw Terraria, and said that my dreamgame had come true.
I used to play it 5+ hours each day at bare minimum. I've had many favorite characters, I couldn't really say, some of the italians, Marius, the founder of Blood Gulch currently infilitrating shady sands, a master banker known as Ashkenastein, stemming from the corrupted incest godess known as Ash, seeking to become the banker in charge of the capitol city, using masterful planning to enslave everyone under debt, and eventually destroy the most pure and holy lands of the Dalians, located at the center of the world.
Jimmy died during a robbery, Tommy Darmody is still alive. Enoch hasnt been introduced, but Al Capone is around.
Yes I keep track of blood lines, put Jack Thompson (II) (CoF Angela Thompson & Robert Lee)
Means "second son of Angela and Robert"
I use a random number system to decide who's genetics they exhibit the most (say haircolour or eye colour) and if one of their parents have 300 hp, and the other 100, the child will start with extra hp/mp.
>pic related, Ashkenastein, powerful banker in Capitol, will introduce extremely wellcrafted schemes to gain massive control, original mother (Ash) was a green haired corrupted diety who had offspring with humans, then had sex with her own human grandsons, and somewhere along the line Ashkenastein was born, seeking to corrupt the entire world
Although the interior design is nicer, the overall structure is still very blocky
>Ashkenastein
>Ashkena(zi)
>___stein
>powerful banker
>will introduce extremely wellcrafted schemes to gain massive control
Oy vey.
Have you ever tried Dwarf Fortress because that's kind of like what you did with Terraria?
Did you miss him talking about introducing Jewish banking families into this world? He's not been subtle about it.
I'm not even mad at stuff like this, I just wish I could be as dedicated to one single game.
I think this subject of major long-term autism/dedication in gaming needs more threads
Like that guy who played the same game of civ2 for a decade
I have been detailing a fantasy multiverse for half a decade but unfortunately it isn't Sup Forums related and I like to think I don't have autism.
How dows the characters deal with Corruption/Crimson? (Or Hell for that matter)
Are there any screencaps of that civ2 user? I'm almost certain I know what you're talking about but I'd love to see it if someone has it
WHY ITALIANS
WHY
I believe there was at least one in the original reddit thread
He even made his savefile public
