Yes, and?

>Both teams choosing the exact same heroes

>Both teams choosing heroes within their respective roles and not all choosing one type
>Both teams having a preference that somehow align with one another

What's your point?

it's meta. characters are going to be nerfed and buffed accordingly.

you need to remind yourself that this game is in its infant stage as a competitive title, give it time.

At least they did not go 2 scouts 2 soldier, 1 demo and 1 medic

Yes, and?

TF2 competitive blows overwatch competitive out of the water.

>21 heroes
>only 5 are viable
yea nu-Blizzard balancing

i feel like competitive is just about who can cheat using the flaws for as long as they can since the game is aimed for 13 year olds and not mathematically perfect or balanced by any means, just like league of legends.
So "Pros" will just always pick the more meta builds until it gets nerfed and move on the second most OP unbalanced tactics. It´s legal cheating not skillplay. That´s why everybody wants AWP or Scar H in CSGO coz its not a skillgame you need to abuse broken features to win.

This literally happens in every competitive game.
>Every body plays only a handful of fighting game characters
>Everybody uses the same weapons/limited pool of weapons
>Everyone picks the same champions
>Everyone uses Dominus or Octane

Its almost like people are playing to win in competitive and pick what works best to win

Look, another Overwatch thread.

No it doesnt. It doesnt happen in balanced games where its actually viable to play something other than 6 choices.

The only thing that makes TF2 competitive better is more maps.

>game is only 1 month out
>meta is stale as a 10 year old game
nice blizzcuck

>Blizzdrones will defend this
Competitive overwatch is a joke, the game is clearly designed around a casual Audience, blizzard just want a slice of the esports pie, it's just like hearthstone

Literally name one commonly competitive game where a majority of the characters/weapons/etc are competitively viable.

Quake, Dota

Name 5 games that do this.

New Team Fortress 2 competitive mode.

>Quake
Every character is a blank slate and there are three weapons primarily used where as every other weapon is used as a means to defend yourself while controlling the map for ammo for actually good weapons

>Dota
>111 heroes
>only ever see 16-20 in competitive tournaments
That's a worse ratio than overwatch

half the classes in TF2 aren't competetive.
but that's ok, it will be the same for overwatch and it's the same for most games.
and that's fine.

>using the best thing available is "legal cheating"

Holy shit the delusional shit people come up with

>quake
>every weapon is viable

>dota
>every heroes is viable outside of sniper

maybe you git gud one day and don't always play casual shit mate.

>Implying competitive matchmaking is representative of actual tournament level competitive play

Going by this standard every overwatch character is viable.

You're so full of shit

>dotaflame.com/tournament/heroes/2733?The-International-2015

>Everyone uses Dominus or Octane

I sure hope this changes with the new cars rolling out

>every weapon viable in Quake
You sure are retarded m80 if you are playing at actual tournament levels you would be fucked if you went up against power weapons with anything other than another power weapon.

>Every hero is viable outside of sniper
In fucking matchmaking maybe, at tournaments you never see a variety bigger than 20 different heroes.

>power weapons with anything other than another power weapon.
>power weapon

What the fuck

rocket launcher, lightning gun and railgun were incredibly OP in quake and once you go quad damage, immortality or invincibility you know shit´s about to get real

Neither of you know anything about TF2's competitive meta.

Its has a very set in stone team comp of 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, a demo and a medic with all the other classes being very situational picks and spy rarely ever seeing play.

>quad damage
>in duels
lul stop mate

>Dota
>111 heroes
>only ever see 16-20 in competitive tournaments

>at tournaments you never see a variety bigger than 20 different heroes.

Only 11 heroes out of the 111 available weren't picked in the TI qualifiers. You're either full of shit or actually retarded

People do the most optimal things to win, what a shock!

where´s the skill in that? you just go for easiest most broken shit + dead angles more often than the other team and oh its a win. esports is a fraud

Different maps call for different comps.

Name literally one balanced class based PvP.

every other blizzard title

>omg both baseball/football/soccer/basketball teams are positioning their players in the same spots in the field. sports are a fucking fraud

thats sounds boring as fuck who the hell would watch that

I think it's funny that the latest tournament result had every character but zenyatta get picked at least once, but it's completely unbalanced.

Especially compared to DotA, which had 6 unplayed heroes at the manila major.

you got the numbers wrong, around 16-20 of the 111 DONT get picked most of the time

>MUH SKILL

sirlin.net/ptw-book/introducingthe-scrub

I have bad news friend.

You realize sports teams pay MILLIONS to get the most overpowered negro they can to win right.

The only people who think competition should be "fair" are redditors.

>who the hell would watch that
>watch that
>watch
you think competetive leagues and competetive play in videogames is about getting views?
i hate your generation.

>everyone uses Dominus or Octane
i dont see those cars often and personally i use the delorean i cant wait for marauder and masamune though

>you just go for easiest most broken shit + dead angles more often than the other team and oh its a win
>you just do the thing that makes you win more often/better than the other team

That's literally called skill

The problem with these team comps are not that they're mirrored -- that's fine, and expected in high levels of any game. Trying to balance a game completely to where every character is viable in all situations would lead to all the characters having generally the same abilities...Uniqueness and balance are often at odds with each other, and sometimes balances comes at a cost of having characters that are same-y. Instead of that, Overwatch, like most competitive e-sports, has the opposite problem. Characters are kinda unique at the cost of balance. It is up to them to find the proper balance for what they want out of their game, but this is all to say that the fact that the same sort of characters are being picked means that the game has uniqueness, as counter-intuitive as that sounds.

The REAL problem is that a lot of those characters have really lazy FPS designs. Reaper and Soldier have auto aim high damage ults. Soldier and Reinhardt have the laziest designs for this sort of game (even if it's on purpose, whatever that means, it's still lazy). Soldier has a dash, a heal, fairly accurate and damaging smg. Reinhardt has a shield and a dash and he stands still babying a cart with little consequences to himself, unless his team is in bad position. Roadhog is a TANK with easy to hit crowd control and high burst. Like, these are some of the most boring characters to watch and some of the most boring characters to play against. This is the real problem, as people would much rather prefer characters that seem to have a higher skill cap and a more exciting design, like a zenyatta, zarya, pharah etc...

meant for

Correction: People pick what they think works best to win.

Metagames are like a circlejerk. As long as both teams are doing the same meta, the meta strat works. If one of them mixed it up with a non-meta strat the other team would either be forced to swap heroes to adapt or lose.

Doing the same thing at each other is literally the dumbest, least efficient strategy these idiots could do. Especially in a game designed around hero swapping and counter picking.

Nigger 100 out of 111 heroes were picked during manila major.

Look, another shitpost

>tfw I want to start one of these threads with everyone all Winston but I'm too lazy

Why does this game have a competitive scene a month after it came out? Blizzard doesn't even have one yet.

>Time passes.
>Still a press Q to win game.

games can still be balanced around shit mechanics.

it can be a balanced game but a shit game at the same time.

holy fuck you are so goddamn stupid

the game had a competetive scene when it was in closed beta.
it's great marketing for blizzard.
and every multiplayer game is Esports now.

>everyone chooses the same meta
>"It the one that works."

I love how someone says "the rest of the game performs too poorly to use" unironically and thinks this is justification. Like it is remotely acceptable this happens in a game like OW.

Most fickle fucking meta-marionettes I have ever seen. I miss real PvPers (never thought I would be saying that).

Does he need a buff?
