Y'all excited for Spore 2?
Y'all excited for Spore 2?
Except it'll actually be good lol
kill yourself
>mfw No Man's Sky flops
Yeah I'm excited to see the buuer's remorse threads on release day and all the butthurt in general when people realize they fell for the procedural generation meme once again
>Infinite amount of space to explore
>Literally nothing to do with it
LOL
I hope not, I just want a good video game to play for once
More like Spore without the cool parts.
What happens when you get to the center of the galaxy?
Literally every major advertisement for the game has been about how big it is, with very little focusing on what cool things you get to do in that massive world.
Draw conclusions for yourself.
You make it to the center of the Grox empire and get the end cutscene and then get a rod of life with 42 uses.
It's gonna be cool for the first few hours.
Then you realize all the "procedural" generation is just the same shit but this time painted red instead of blue.
Then you realize there will be nothing to do except "explore".
Then you realize the game is a glorified walking simulator.
It's be worse except it'll be less of a disappointment
You made me realize that literally nothing at the center of the galaxy would be worth $60.
I am excited for maximum comfy
But don't you want what's in the mystery box user?
It could even be a boat!
for about 2-3 hours then get boring as fuck
It sucks because I like the idea behind it but it flopping will mean companies will think the very concept of exploration games is unmarketable.
Someone said Spore
wait i thought it was out already
Hmm, but what quality of boat?
>Spore 2
What is this meme?
Even those who criticize this gem know it doesn't play like spore.
Hence the "walking simulator" accusations.
I don't think this game will be bad at all, but the marketing is pretending this isn't a niche title when it absolutely is.
This game will get ridiculous amounts of hate on launch.
OR IT COULD BE FREE TICKETS TO A CRAPPY COMEDY CLUB
...
shut up shill....
The game is boring, and there is a non cartoonish version of it for free... now.
...
>Subnautica in space with procedural generation of everything
What could possibly go wrong.
Apparently you can be a space outlaw on the run from powerful factions, so yes.
Outlaw Star me up baby.
>yeah see, i'm on the lamb, got all this space cash see
Patiently waiting for Star Citizen.
oh shit son, an ms paint comic
It'll be great man, shoot open a freight ship, get all the good shit from it, then escape before they can retaliate.
>one major draw card of exploration: unknown
> every autist and their mum just wants to be told how the story begins and ends.
>theyr'e not telling us anything cuz there's nothing XD buyer's remorse fag lollol
this is why I tend to hate gaming community. the souls series were so much fun without utilizing the community, and this will be too.
i thought Sup Forums loved that shit. it's always WAAAY down on those stupid iceberg threads
Reminder.
When are we ever going to see a developer attempting something like this again and doing it right?
lol really?
more?
Except they aren't taking stuff away. We already know it's shit.
>then escape before they can retaliate.
we can do it see, we will steal all the space cash, escape into another galaxy while we are on the lamb from the space police see.
Thats the only one i have.
There was another with the planets only.
>This game will get ridiculous amounts of hate on launch.
Especially because there are still people out there that believe it has multiplayer.
>People talk shit about Elite Dangerous being empty and boring but SOBIGGALAXY SOMANYSTARS CLIMBTHATMOUNTAIN
>Hype up this shit
This is what I'm expecting, with random generation we're probably going to see repeats and re-colors.
But hell, I'll keep some kind of journal going that categorizes everything I see. If it's really uncharted territory like they say then it'll be pretty fun.
This will at least have some kind of life on planets that you can land on and explore.
E:D still doesn't have atmospheric flight or life forms outside of planet description text.
Subnautica plays extremely well already so I don't think NMS can get better than that. The $60 price tag of NMS isn't really worth it.
I will wait for more gameplay footage before getting hyped. So far, everything shown is meh.
but will it be better than Elite: Dangerous where you also can't do anything?
I just want space games to be great again
That's actually why I keep posting these, I hope that one day some determined guy will take the old concept for Spore and actually make it
Give it some time, user.
Publishers only just realized that gamers never stopped wanting space sims. Gonna take a bit for them to make what we want.
If SC manages to work, awesome. But I'm not holding my breath.
Play space engine and you will see procedual done right, but still you can tell its procedual.
>NoGuns: RunFromEverything Resurrection The Movie The Game Reprise Collection
>plays well
It's going to be delicious. For over a year they kept saying in major interviews and previews, "The universe is so vast meeting another player is unlikely" without ever outright stating there was no multiplayer. Then they finally announce there is no multiplayer in a small interview that most people are likely to miss.
Hope the game breaks record number of refunds.
>AAA dev in 2016
>still manage to make a procedural game that is as barebones as Daggerfall was from 1998
At least we have CoD: Infinite Warfare to fill that gap.
Wait. What?
It doesn't? What the fuck? Explain!
Not following this game very much but I kinda expected multiplayer to be... you know, the whole thing.
The best part will be when the people playing figure out some sort of exploit that makes the game fun and interesting.
Which will then be patched out because it wasn't intended.
Procedural is harrrrrd
>box at the center is a cipher with coordinates you can go to somewhere
>that somewhere is ancient ruins and temples and shit with mysteries/puzzles to solve like the Witness
>beating that gives you multiple ancient weapons that space pirates want
>Story mode unlocks with the gameplay from then on being the best first person space shooter in years
Oh man I loved this year. I complain about CoD pretty regularly and my friends love that shit. But I love space sims, and that trailer looked fucking neat! Maybe not great, but definitely better than recent CoD releases.
My friends that love CoD hated it. Go fucking figure.
yes....
look at
No multiplayer AT ALL.
Not every developer has that perfect blend of know-how and autism that Bay 12 has.
Toady is a literal genius.
has this ever happened with any of its spiritual predecessors (black&white, spore, and the like)? because I cant imagine that being true
oh while we're at it I also want to point out that star citizen : fable :: no man's sky : spore
That's because AAA companies don't offer competitive wages and think slave hours will attract people going to Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, Google, etc.
It was weird hearing Infiniteward talk about space combat that wasn't attached to rails. It looks like they accomplished almost everything SC is trying to do and more.
>center of the galaxy is the black hole
>nothing else
>well lets enter the black hole i guess
>you are teleported into a new galaxy and RNG shit starts again
>ultra deep "universe is infinite" achievement unlocked
I can see this shit actually happening
The game's not even half as ambitious as Spore tried to be. Not sure why it's being blown up out of proportion.
>It looks like they accomplished almost everything SC is trying to do and more.
>codfans believe this
Player base exponentially increases throughout the years.
While the ambition hype factor isnt there the amount of people hyped is far greater now.
>It looks like they accomplished almost everything SC is trying to do and more.
ahhh I'd pump the brakes on that one, user.
CoD is good at building setpieces and convincing looking dioramas. There's more going on in Star Citizen than what a standard CoD title would touch on.
and the whole fuckin' MMO aspect
shiet nigger
I remember the day this presentation occurred. Jaws were on the floor. Then EA had to kill it, Will Wright, and Maxis to get the game out the door.
Well even if you compare the CoD trailer with footage from Arena Commander. The ship physics alone are leagues ahead of whatever CoD is masking behind those filters and jump cuts.
Oh yeah the MMO portion. I keep thinking SC is only SQ42 for some reason.
If youve actually been following it, youd understand that theyre actually being pretty subtle about advertising the game, and that its journalists that are freaking out over "INFINITE GAMEPLAY FOREVER"
>procedural
>procedural
>procedural
He keeps pushing it and pushing it and honestly, this is where the game really screwed up. Their fixation on utterly unremarkable and bland procedural features detracted from the actual gameplay, and it's unfortunate that this ideology survived Spore to plague the current generation of games.
>theyre actually being pretty subtle about advertising the game
Because there's hardly any game to advertise.
Shit yeah. The fidelity alone in Star Citizen is leagues ahead. youtube.com
tho I kind of want to play Infinite Warfare and I haven't purchased a COD since the 2nd game
>I haven't purchased a COD since the 2nd game
You didn't miss much.
CoD 4 and Black Ops 2 were worth playing but that's it.
The simple fact that you have your own character will make it better.
>That explosion from within the ship
>Uploaded on Oct 9, 2006
SWEET HISTORY
>2016
>people still get their hopes up over a game
You can't get disappointed if you don't expect anything
not everyone had Age of Conan to learn this lesson user
>creating procedural verbs
>now he knows 'to drag'
Sadly there were plenty more cases to learn from
Yeah, I think it was a critical engine failure or something. They've got tons of different ways to destroy ships from without and within.
Hence why AAA companies are incompetent. You're making millions, put some fucking effort in.
Why? We're making millions.
Will mods fix this game Sup Forums?
not bad, user. not bad.
youtube.com
no mans sky seems like a watered down version of this with a very forced story
how moddable will it be? or do we have to hack it into bits like Diablo 2 modding?
>watered down
Wut? One is going for realism and the other clearly is more interested in making the planets interesting with animals, plants or others stuffs.
No one want to walk around the planets in SE, they're just good from space or as a way to look at space from them
YOU
CAN
DO
ANYTHING
N
Y
T
H
I
N
G
Calling it now
~20 "species" with variations in size, color etc
~15 planet "biomes" with varying geology
.
What I fucking want is to find my very own planet and encounter lethal purple gas clouds that are sentient beings and aren't found anywhere else in the universe. But I know it's going to be more like "auburn brochiosorus with green spots" and "E3 fish"
I want to be hyped but I have a feeling it will be a walking simulator. I'll land on the same kind of biome planet ten times in a row and discover the same minerals and animals I already cataloged on my first day playing. I'll visit an empty spaceport to interact with stiff AI that either want to kill me or give me shit all for stuff I've found. I'll have to spend days tracking down one necessary mineral I need to craft new equipment. That is, after I figure out I actually need it because there's no catalog of recipes or blueprints. So not only will I visit the same planet biome dozens of times but it will take forever just to upgrade my suit so that those planets don't drain my health.
It'll be a more polished and stylized but crappier Subnautica.
You can never satisfy everyone.
There's autists that claim the game is sht because it's not realist like SE
Then there's autistd like you who look for reasons to complain, if there was purple cloud beings in the game you'll complain you can't harvest them and use them as a weapon. Literally "I'm a pro idea guy and I could save this game by myself"
Wouldn't it be great if they had procedurally generated dialogue, npcs and stories for space games.
God damn, if society doesn't collapse future games could be great. Especially space games.
