Anyway: playing it right now. It's bland and very confusing at the same time, but worst of all is the level where you have to roll through 4-5 mazes with no saving point and no chance to see what's in front of you. Been trying for >3hours for a 3 minute trajectory.

I guess the Metroid series had a bunch of bad games.

I liked the original Metroid, Metroid 2 and Fusion a lot actually.

The multiplayer saved it from being completely worthless. Too bad it's shut down even on virtual console.

Yeah, multiplayer shouldn't be what makes a game about being alone in space work and it's dead now anyway. Previous Metroid games are still very playable, though.

Talking or even thinking about Metroid at this point is just painful. It's been almost ten years since the last decent Metroid game. While good, it wasn't overly amazing or anything either. Though honestly that's all I want from Metroid is more of the same with at least some effort and quality in it, which Prime 3 had.

Nintendo doesn't mind making normal quality 2D Mario titles that play and function the same, or Pokemon, or Zelda. Yeah they're changing up aspects of these titles, like Breath of the Wild, but it's still fundamentally Link adventuring and sword fighting etc.

So why does Metroid need to drastically change? Why can't it just be Metroid? No need to keep reinventing the wheel. I mean sure I think a third person Metroid could work, but as long as it still had everything people love about Metroid. Large explorable alien worlds, finding tons of powerups, some semblance of nonlinearity. MOM and Fed Force completely give no shits about this.

Stop reinventing the goddamn wheel, Nintendo. Fucking hate this company.
