And cost 999999$ too twice that in Europe. becuase vat.
>no SLI
>Price premium is somewhat awkward to 480 with respect to 1070
I hate to say it, but 1070 is a better proposition, and RX 480 would be the better option if budget's a constraint.
Companies say a lot of things.
Better to wait for it to release and becnhmarks to come out.
>I'm going to buy the reference model.
>sli
you stupid fuck. no casual here is in sli. lots of games don't even support it. single gpu is best gpu
>Founders Edition meme
>980 for $250
It's fine.
This seems like a pretty pointless card but i guess its going to replace the 970's spot since its out of production?
1070 and 1080 both seem like the better investment. I think i'll just wait a year and buy a 1070.
this will really put a dent on 980 aftermarket prices. i'll probably opt for that. still using a 470
I'd use the 980 instead of the 1060.
The RX 480 is a GTX 970 with AMD drivers that damages motherboards, so no.
Pointless? Its the new budget card. Depending on how its performance and everything actually turns out it might be THE budget card.
>>Nvidia says 1060 will outperform a 980
The only way they will mange that is if they cripple the 980 with bad drivers.
>if
you make it sound like they wont, user.
>if
W E W L A D
I told myself this about the 980 and now I'm debating waiting until the 1060 or 1070 go down in price.
I have a 560gtx card. I can't keep putting this shit off.
I WANT TO PLAY WITCHER 3 DAMN IT.
They'll gimp the 980 to make the 1060 do this.
Also it's just PR anyway so who cares
>if
yeah wouldn't it be a surprise if they did that
>$250 for 980 performance
Holy shit, AMD is
F I N I S H E D
Buy the 1070 already and quit being a cheap little fuck.
What the fuck is this "founders edition" bullshit?
I got lucky and got a 1070 right when they came out, and I love it.
Reference cards
Pay a 15-25% premium just because
Early adopter tax.
I hope they don't jew us yuropoors. Maybe I'll consider importing it from the UK.
its how Nvidia makes a markup on the fake MSRP
Explain please
>Nvidia says 1080 will outperform Titan X
>Sup Forums starts screaming that it's just marketing BS
>It actual outperforms the Titan X
>Nvidia announces 1060, says it will outperform the 980
>"N-no way it can do that!!!!"
>Nvidia says
>AMD says
naive
What can you expect from AMD drones?
>$250
>Actually selling it for $300
nvidiots should just kill themselves if they buy into the fe meme
Who bought into it?
Why can't AMD into power efficency?
Seriously, why not just pour money into making their GPUs more efficient?
>Nvidia announces MSRP of $379, $599 for 1070/1080
>also releases "founders edition", people realize this is the new Nvidia marketing term for the reference model
>founders editions are sold for $70-$100 markup
>Nvidia limits the supply of Pascal GPUs
>aftermarket Pascal cards are selling for beyond the price of the founders edition because they are built and perform better, Nvidia fanboys are already gobbling up cards at the reference model price so new cards are sold for far more than MSRP
>Nvidia doesn't get punished because AMD doesn't have a stopgap before Vega comes in and provides better value
>Nvidia cards are never sold near the MSRP, unlike AMD which sold the 480s for MSRP
but the 1070 barely out performs the 980
You mean the 980 Ti.
Classic AMD shills can't get the facts straight.
will i be able to play stuff like batman and deus ex: md on max settings with this?
Who here /day one buy/?
It handily beats both the regular 980 and Ti 980.
At 1080p 60 FPS? Absolutely. At 1440p, perhaps at some lowered settings.
POO IN THE GPU
>still have a 780
Long have I awaited this day
n-n-nuh uh!
What money?
...
Who /teamswitching/? HD 7870 here. Buying this bad boy day one.
A way to announce a bullshit msrp they'll never abide by nor their partners. AMD does virtually the same, they based their whole hype on a 200$ card that doesn't exist...
Isn't Linus an intel shill?
Does anyone else fear getting a 1060 just because of the VRAM?
The 480, 1070, and 1080 all have 8VRAM.
I fear that lazy developers will just make 8vram the standard because most GPUs will have it and they can do less work.
So is the 970 still a may may card or is it worth getting? I've got a 560 ti and am thinking of getting either the 960 or 70
It is a 1080p card, 6gb is more than enough.
Not worth it. 970 has the 3.5gb vram problem. Just grab a 1060. 960 is awful. It has 2 Gbs of memory.
>nividia
enjoy your planned generational obsolescence via propitiatory shit
>amd
enjoy your cheap ass components frying
The only thing that's relevant is the price and performance of the OC'd models of the RX 480 and GTX 1060.
Anything else is irrelevant.
Unfortunately we don't know anything about either. Just some possibilities with the RX 480.
yeah bro, get a 1070 and just enjoy witcher. i play on a 4gb 960 and it runs amazing.
So then what grafix card do I buy if they both suck ass?
I'm seeing multiple 960's with 4 gigs of vram though
Nvidia
Nvidia greed for the:
a) retarded people.
b) unlucky people that want to remove the stock fan to use a water cooling system.
>300
jeeewwwssss
So much for upgrading
I guess they are a thing. Regardless unless your budget is peanuts a 1060 is the way to go.
>So is the 970 still a may may card or is it worth getting?
The 970 isn't worth any money at this point.
The 960 has a worse price-performance than the RX 480 4GB.
Either wait for the GTX 1060 if you are ok with the Nvidia price shittery or get a RX 480 4GB CUSTOM card.
>It is a 1080p card, 6gb is more than enough.
You underestimate the lazy developers.
Might be good for a year or two.
But in year 3?
Might be shit.
The 3VRAM one would be total garbage though.
Nowhere near enough VRAM.
you buy the HBM2 cards that come Q4
everything on the market right now will be trashed by HBM2
>You underestimate the lazy developers.
This. Some games already exceed 6gb at 1080.
youtube.com
6.5
If the card is crippled at 1080p in 3 years, buy a new one.
960 is worse than the 380 which is probably still cheaper but
>drivers
And the 970 will cut it for a lot of games(assuming you're only doing 1080) but you're getting screwed on the VRAM and it's kind of shitty to encourage that kind of deception
Is GTX 650Ti still viable?
I got one for free from my coworker today.
>This. Some games already exceed 6gb at 1080.
wut....
How.
It has a special cooler you won't find in the other vendor versions.
no
For games pre 2014 it maxes everything maybe.
For games in 2015 and after, you can low or mid settings.
>If
New to Nvidia practices i take?
>lazy developers
Oh, suddenly developers are lazy for making use of the new console generation's features when before everyone was crowing about how console held them back? Consoles have 8GB of shared RAM, they have no reason not to use it, especially when before every misc object in a game would be a blurry mess.
this
"Le AMD is cheap" meme is one of the worst pieces of misinformation on the net today. Shills like you never take into account that you always need a better motherboard, and PSU when you get AMD shit product to rule our potential issues, and something to cool off your shitty card. Did I mention AMD has a shit performance everywhere but in DX12 games like ashes of singularity? A game which is objectively a larger failure than Battleborn.
Not to mention that as off right now only a few places IN THE U.S sell it for the suggested price, you retarded shill. Try to convince anyone that AMD is a budget option when in Europe a RX 480 is competing at the same price range of a 980, and it is much more expensive than a 970 SC, let alone used cards.
No rupees have been deposited in your account pajeet.
Your post is shit.
new drivers, 8 pin sapphire 480 nitro
Also, efficiency.
You pay a cheaper bill on the long run with nvidia.
Filling instead of optimizing when your target is 1080p30 IS lazy though.
Some games will make use of the extra Vram but it isn't necessarily needed.
I remember playing Shadow of Mordor with my 970 on max settings at 1080p and according to MSI afterburner I was using 5.6gb and the 970 has 4gb of Vram.
INB4 3.5gb meme.
>assuming filling isn't optimised
Do you also use a RAM cleaner? Performance isn't going to tank just from bigger textures that still fit in memory.
Because they have no money and internal power struggles with-in the company have taken their toll in development.
They have no money because no one buys their inferior products. Only consoles, and pre-built desktops use AMD. Hell not even brands like HP, Dell, Lenovo etc bother with AMD products for their workstations.
AMD is years behind schedule. It is not a real competitor, hence the theories that Nvidia is sitting pretty on new technologies they have not implemented on mainstream products because they have no real competition.
An argument that makes sense in krautland where you actually pay for electricity. North America can be lower than 15 cent per kwh depending on where you live.
>300$ "budget" card
>barely beats a 480
Top cuck nvidia shills
is this the best you can do?
>inb4 some shill talks about how oever a 5 year period the .425 watts per hour I save will somehow matter
>if
what's the highest you'll pay?
>30fps is optimized
k
>unlike AMD which sold the 480s for MSRP
Uh huh, sure.
I am sure there is an over demand of Rx 480 reason why every single one of them sold at the MSRP are out of stock, but you can buy these goy.
Nah, fuck you.
RX480 is $250, so is the non FE 1060.
Textures don't crunch frame rates, fancy post processing effects do.
$239 is the MSRP of the 8GB card
The 199 MSRP is only for the 4GB version of the 480
You could just flash it to the 8GB version, though
>a 250$ AMD card is somehow 200$
>a 250$ nvidia card is somehow 300$
AMDrones are this desperate
It's truly sad
The highest rate for residential is Boston MA at 30cent, New York and San Fran are close to that price as well.
It was $225, and yes, I know. The point is that no one is selling these for the suggested price, they all just happen to be out of stock, the only ones in stock are the over priced ones.
