Bump

Beta Spore

2005 Spore

WoW

every spore phase has probably some flash webgame equivalent on the internet

I wish there was some way to play this

Fuck this made me depressed.

What went so wrong?

terraria is kind of like spore i guess. tons of stuff you can do in that game, full of content, hundreds, maybe thousands of hours of content.

Oh how could I forget to post these

youtube.com/watch?v=T8dvMDFOFnA

>pixelshit

you can do almost anything in terraria. it is the greatest game ever made.

Its pretty shitty senpai

nah its the best game ever

...

No Man's Sky

Your bait's a little moldy there, friend

It's not bait.
Im just saying it's pixelshit, because that's what it is.

Sorry you're so triggered senpai

So is your terrible game's art style.

Game is trash like your taste

Is there a reason for lack of mods/overhaul that could bring back ideas from alpha/beta?

Thrive
Still in development, but pretty promising

...

>You are now manually remembering that one amazing video where Robin Williams tested spore out in front of lots of people and you were so hyped

ok

...

>What did he mean by this?

It's on now you space nigger.

I think it's speaking in code

Rip spore I think my kid self died during the periods leading up to it going gold

I even went to a forum designed specifically for spore just to talk about spore holy fuck I was so hyped.

That spark of life just snuffed out because of reasons I don't even remember

Was it budget?
Was it something else?
We may never know for sure

I don't know if this game will ever be finished..

every spore stage is just a ultra-dumbed down version of a popular genre.

too ambitious, not given enough money/time.

>but pretty promising
no it's not, it's even less promising than a kickstarter, it's just a bunch of amateurs semi-doing it as a hobby.
if it was promising there would be a chance for it to be finished and come out, there isn't.
It's just another open-source game that will never be finished and eventually be abandoned.
Come back when the game has a release date.

Stellaris is a bit like Spore space stage but a lot more in depth.

is there an equivalent game to stage 1? i actually really liked stage 1 of spore, eating other cells and upgrading my own, it was a fun way to kill a half hour or so, i think it'd make a great phone game or something

too bad the rest of spore was pure shit

agar.io

ds spore

honestly, that's a better version of the first stage in spore.
altho it has alot of randomness and bullshit that spore doesn't.

tribal stage was best stage, too bad it was so short.

this here faggot

It's funny how deep stellaris seems and then suddenly it becomes so shallow after a couple hours

Give it a year or so of devving it might be good

Mork?

GET OUT OF MY HEAD YOU SPACE NIGGER

Gork?

it was a nice fotm game but it was way too basic to be a substitute, cells didn't even have upgrades other than getting bigger

Memmes xd

>tribal stage was best stage

heh

I always remember liking the civilization stage in spore.

turned out there was a whole game series like that.

and that's how I got into sid meier's civ games

There's a game coming out I was reading about called Niche, had some spore inspirations and gave me a faint glimmer of hope. But spore hurt me too deeply to allow myself hype again.

>Do you guys know of any games like spore but less childish/contentless?

The Mims Beginning, some indie God game.

Could be a hidden gem

Any god games that don't suck? Preferably with replayability and strong customization/sandbox value

The operative word is "less"

>NMS
>less contentless
I don't know man. Looks pretty devoid of content to me.

>a gorillion planets!

it was a rts stage with hero units. if the space stage had easier ways to colonize planets instead of having to set up each city on each planet, then that one would be my favorite. i did not like the mmo stage.

spore was great because you could dominate and colonize planet and have a force to conquer more, it wasn't well implemented but the idea was marvelous.
no man's sky seems to lack any sort of rts or strategy mechanics, it looks like a bad fps with survival features, poor survival features.

no, it looks like trash, it lacks the expansion part that made spore such a timesink
in mims everything happens on a small 2d plane and it's mission based, so i think you'll get a new plane after each mission

It was probably budget. They must have realized the game wouldn't sell enough so they just took what they had ready to go and shat it out to the public.

youtube.com/watch?v=Y0wSDpZodvI

looks like shit, the designer is a poorman's furry, they're going to put it on kickstarter, they're trying to be funny but fail and the whole thing is super cringy.

Wasted potential

The Game

>neverending tale of overambitious games

I think budget is the only issue in this, our holy disappointing trilogy

I should've looked to see if any progress was made before posting. Whelp...

Black & White lived up to its promises though.

replace it with black & white 2

welp*

The reason: the game is too old, too dead and too casualized to care about.

...

they had the money, but EA dumbed it down to satisfy the instant gratification audience.

>Next month will be the 2 year anniversary of Robin Williams' death.

It still feels surreal to me. Jumanji was a part of my childhood.

damn, 2 years already, eh?
