It's fine. It's not really a substantial upgrade over 7 or 8.1 but it's not a downgrade either. The ads and spyware shit is OPT IN. You have to click a box to say you want it.

There's no real reason to upgrade but there's no real reason to downgrade if you have. It's pretty much a reskinned 7 without minesweeper.

it's got the best interface and is smooth as shit. If you're still scared from when Sup Forums freaked out initially that it was all spyware, just jump in. Windows 10 is the best one since 7, and it's actually a step forward imo.

If I had a friend who had already upgraded (and I spent some time using their machine) I wouldn't have but I was the one that bit the bullet.

The thing is it's pretty much w7 with a new coat of paint and some 8.1 features. It's not that special and it's still just pretty much w7. There's no real need to upgrade.

Also since this is Sup Forums, I've had to run Project Zomboid and I've heard of a few other games that need to be run in compatibility mode because of W10.

nah it's a very simple and straight forward installation. microsoft pushed w10 HARD so they really streamlined it and ironed out the kinks. If I could say one positive thing about W10, the installation was easy.

people were steering away from 10 on day 1 because of the reputation 8 gave their company, so in order to persuade a large demographic to switch they started this inane "windows 10 exlusive" horse shit, even though every single exclusive game could be ran perfectly fine on 7 or 8. I.E. "we have your family, give yourself up"

Good thing - it need a less space, i use 64 gb SSD and 7 sometimes make me worry and clean desktop.
Also it is pretty, XP was thick like child's drawn, 7 was shiny and cold like plastic cover, 10 is simply elegant like a black square.

i upgraded and the only problem i have is windows saying speccy was removed because it doesn't work with this version of windows every time i turn my computer on but it runs just fine anyways

I've had it wake the computer up several times from sleep mode for update shit... I had to tell it not to wake the computer when a particular connection came in and told it to, and it's still waking up randomly.

I don't know if that's true fampai. For me personally the reputation of windows 8 being shit was almost a given. Microsoft has almost always had a good OS then a really shit OS after it. 8.1 was a good OS I guess, and it made me stop caring about 8.

Actually i've moved temp file and mydocuments on hdd.
Pagefile is turned off for years, I have 12 gb of RAM, it's cheap as dirt.

The last good UI from Microsoft was windows 98 SE. Good thing you can change the UI in XP/7/8.1/10 from being ugly as sin to tolerably tasteless.

i didn't even have to manually reinstall any games i had when i updated. dunno how well it works for games released before windows 7 though

Yea. The upgrade is tied to your mobo anyways. If you get a new one you just have to call ms up, give them your 7 key info and they clear you again.

Though not sure why you'd do that. If I was going to move I'd just copy the files over to the 10 partition and then delete the 7 one.

There isn't if you are not concerned about pirating it in the future. You don't need to download a cracked version to begin with, you need the official iso and microsoft toolkit.

A couple of programs, I had to update driver and/or reinstall. Direct X, video capture programs(mainly FRAPS), and my mic of all things. Other than that nothing major has popped up. It's just a bit of nuisance and I tremendously dislike the stupid UI, but They're gonna keep updating win 10 and stop supporting the other versions so I gave them a benefit of doubt.

upgraded to 10 noticed my comp ran slow as fuck afterwards literally 4 minutes to boot. with 7 it was 30 seconds. downgraded back to 7. downgrading kept all the files intact but fucked up all my hard drive names by renaming them. it managed to make it boot off an external hard drive i had attached instead of the drive the os was installed on. was fun discovering shit dont work no more when i removed the external and tried to start it up later. had to wipe the os and reinstall to get shit working properly

Windows 7 didn't even come with any games the same way Windows XP did, there was no minesweeper on 7.

Win10 is fine. Eventually you'll have to upgrade anyway. Just make sure you do the following:

-Don't get Win10 Home. Pay to get Professional if you're dumb enough to be running 7/8 Home. Home edition locks you out of most basic control functions including choosing whether or not to shut off those overnight build upgrades that fuck all your shit up.

-Do a clean installation (google it if you need to). If you do JUST the upgrade you're going to have a mess to deal with and you'll eventually have all sorts of directory issues and problems with programs and drivers. A clean slate eliminates 90% of the problems people have when upgrading to 10. You WILL need to back up all your files and you will need to install all of your programs again. I recommend Ninite.

-If you're really worried about MUH PRIVACY there are guides on the internet to remove telemetry stuff, though it really isn't a big deal. For the end user, I promise you, they're not looking at your fucking porn or piracy or whatever the fuck.
