Dishonored

I started playing this due to a friend's rec. I've only ever played MGS in terms of stealth games but this one is making me feel really clumsy. I'm constantly thumbing between vision and blink and running out of sleep darts while blundering into LoS when trying to choke people to sleep. I just kidnapped the foreign scientist guy from his lab but it seems like I can't non-lethally take out anybody without choking them which is really unwieldy, or the darts which only come in stocks of ten max.

Any tips? I think the reason I'm bad is that MGS was third-person so I had more spatial awareness while here it's more constrained perspective-wise.

I do like the game though, it feels like an actual fantasy novel as opposed to a fantasy videogame setting.

you seriously gotta suck, since the game's so slow-paced and full of modern consolitis casual shit, like those awareness symbols and stuff.

Choking is piss easy. I'm just glad you don't have tons of darts. I managed to beat the entire game ALMOST totally non-lethally, with "ghost" playing style, getting the good ending, while playing on Hard.

Don't rely on the x-ray vision too much. It's not necessarily, having blink ready for use at all times is much more important.
Also, I don't remember how it was in the original campaign, but in the DLC blink also freezes time, as long as you don't move, so you can aim precisely where you want to blink, and possibly even avoid an alarm after being seen, as long as you managed to press the button before the three lightning signs above the guard fully lit up.

>I can't non-lethally take out anybody without choking them which is really unwieldy
That's the point. Non-lethal wouldn't be as rewarding if you could do that as easily as lethal.
But ghosting is even better. I.e. completing the level without alerting or taking out the guards at all, lethally or non-lethally. As if you were never there.

kill everyone
it's more fun that way

How do you even get this good to be able to do that?

He must be chugging the mana potions like crazy or has unlimited cheat on.

honestly i think it's like the only game the guy plays

this. Don't spoil your fun like i did with a low chaos run.

Jesus Christ how many of these are there??

There is a bone charm called "Strong Arms" or something that makes choking people out near instant, be sure to collect all the bone charms per level in case you stumble upon it.

Upgrade your dart capacity. Sleep dart's aren't meant to be your first resort, only use them on high priority targets (if possible), lone assassins and weepers. Pretty much the only way to take out people non-lethally is to choke or dart them, so you'll just have to manage.

Can't really give you any more tips or help unless you say if you're going for any specific play style, ghost, non-lethal, lethal, etc.

Pretty sure it's StealthGamerBRâ„¢

The guy has a ton of them. Not even surprised, considering the name.

I got the impression doing that gives me a bad ending, though I've been resorting to it when mobbed by ten guys a few times.

I dunno, i just can't seem to stay hidden. I think I'm in cover and some dude spots me a mile away. Then I either run until they stop chasing me or just parry and stab them all. I don't really like doing that, it's more fun to kill people but I don't want to do that if it means the ending will be depressing.

Oh right, what was I supposed to do with the guy who was going to be poisoned in the overseer place? I knocked him unconcious then the other guy disappeared and I accidentally left the area, then came back and the other guy was there so I knocked him out, but then when I finished the level after branding his face the daughter acted like the other guy died. Did I stuff up?

There's a few outcomes in which this quest may end, more than two I think. If you just swap the cups, he gets shot, or if you kill the other guy while he's in the same room, the one who you were trying to save becomes hostile to you. Or something like that.

High chaos does give a bad ending but then again the ending is just a cutscene anyways. The only thing high chaos will bring is some "changes" to the missions. Which usually just involves more enemies

>tfw trying to get the enough coins to disappear achievement in the dlc

StealthgamerBR?

Always try and stay in high up places, the enemy doesn't seem to spot you as much, upgrade blink and agility and get the stop time ability.

>I got the impression doing that gives me a bad ending, though I've been resorting to it when mobbed by ten guys a few times.

It does. But killing only a few people won't change much though.

Just max blink, dark vision and bend time (if you have enough runes for it), also put a point in agility ASAP. Use the lean keys (Q and E by default), it's stupidly overpowered since it doesn't trigger detection.

Actually use your surroundings, hide under tables/desks, stay on vents and high ledges, never run or walk unless you have upgraded boots. Just stay above everyone and use the high ground, pretty much every level is designed so you can get to point A to point B by only using roof tops, light posts, etc. There's always a way.

If you spill both glasses, the Overseer takes Curnow down to a basement area and tries to murder him. Choke him out just before he goes for the kill and the uncle doesn't mind, thanks you, books it and is considered spared.

>to get the good ending in 2 you're going to have to not accept any powers

I can't wait for the "B-B-BUT THE GAME PUNISHES ME FOR GOING LETHAL!" 2.0 rectum rage from the casuals.

I've gotten high chaos for most of the missions so far, should I just not bother with nonlethal?

>you're going to have to not accept any powers

wait what?

I'll have you know I got ghost and clean hands achievements you filthy casuals.

M'user signing out

Also, my best advice: Master use of blink and stick to high places.

at the begining of the game you can refuse the stranger's help and play without any powers.

Pfft. I've got those as well as their DLC counterparts. It's not like it's hard to get.

If that is the case then just go all out, don't bother with non-lethal.

You either go low chaos or high chaos, you can certainly keep a mix of the 2 but going for one or the other is much more fun and satisfying.

Grab shadow kill while you're at it too.

Can I use all the stuff I unlocked on a second playthrough?

I played through it killing everyone but in my head canon i did it stealth

no

this
is officially the coolest thing I've seen today

P.S. is this you playing? how come my graphics don't look like that maxed out

Lmao no, that wouldn't be very balanced.

But depending on what DLC or game edition you have, there's a bunch of bone charms and cash in Corvo's room, as a head start.

my choke turns into the blocking animation and fucks up constantly and gets me in trouble. They should have give steam thief a fucking club

you have to stand behind them to choke them

>Not going high chaos with no powers
Casual pls

Saying No to the outsider doesn't lock you out of the low chaos ending, dipshit.

Uh, you both might be wrong or right since we don't actually know if they will make a different ending for if you don't accept the Outsiders assistance or not.

Isn't agility considered a power?

Will the chaos system even be back in 2?
The devs said that not using the powers would have effect on the story, but I don;t remember them mentioning low/high chaos thing at all.

Yes.

Hol up
We can play as corvo or the loli right?
Corvo will have powers no matter what. Right?

Three tiers this time, low, high, and highest.

I hope highest is as brutal and desolate as I imagine.

Well he already has the mark of the Outsider, so I don't know.

Corvo does the Samus thing where he trips and loses all his upgrades. He still has them in the intro cutscene though so it's canon he was a magic boy.

It's cool, I played the first level and it really felt like a big heist.

But now I can't get back into the game. It just feels like it's not going to get any better. I'll warp around killing hapless soldiers while dodging rats while never fighting an amazing boss or anything like that. Am I wrong for once?

Dishonored vet here. I highly suggest going on the hardest difficulty as it provides much more realistic challenge. Its totally beatable even on hardest both high and low chaos. You'll simply feel much more rewarded.

First off: blink is your best friend. If you use it slowly, it recharges fully so its almost free. Use it to teleport behind enemies to escape and to travel on rooftops. Any powers besides that are mostly for fun. Also, you can ignore all the bone charms. They offer very small bonuses.

IF you're doing low chaos, you can ignore most if not all enemies. They provide little to no loot and don't bother you much. Conserve sleeping darts for your targets and always look for alternative ways of dealing with them. Time stop is highly useful in lady boile mission, but you can finish everything else fine with just upgraded blink.

IF youre doing high chaos, just kill everyone you come across. Again, your best friend is blink. Just teleport behind enemy and quickly finish him or run away if you have to. Parrying on high difficulty is not easy, but its the best way to fight. You also need to invest in pistol reload speed to shoot before enemies do ranged atacks. Also, you can take out tallbois with your sword by jumping on them or using blink to get close. Its just badass.

Also, AMA

Some games are still really fun despite being too easy. Like Majora's Mask and Katamari, Dishonored is a ride worth going through even if it won't challenge you as much as you'd want.

if mana didnt recharge, leaning gave away your position, a few more non-lethal powers and gadgets and there was a proper light gem this game would be top tier stealthcore

>highest
Well, fuck

>leaning gave away your position
What's even the point then?
First you complain about x-ray vision, then leaning. How are you supposed to play stealth game with opaque walls without being detected then? Savescum?

Delete that picture right FUCKING NOW

>CoD ghosts fucking a midget whore.jpg

DISHONORED 2 BAD ENDING LEAKED

What's she so happy about?

O shit she's a doppleganger

What?
Why?

git gud, buddy

Can't fucking wait for Dishonored 2.

>doppleganger

Sorry
Is this better?

>bad

>not going 100% no lethal and ghosting on very hard

You gotta

>Kill 12 guys because they were in my way
>Go through a long tedious process to keep the main target alive
>Penalized with chaos

Shouldn't the main guy count for at least 20 people?

You killed way more than 12, ya liar.

IIRC some non-lethal choices actually add more chaos. Or at least in the DLC.

did the empress and corvo fucked

read the manga

Fuck off, pedos.

...

poor mans bioshock

Blink is overpowered and makes the game rather trivial, OP

more like bioshock + half life

More like Thief plus Deus Ex, you fucking underaged.

>completely forgot about this achievement on my newest playthrough
>spent all my gold on upgrades in the first two missions
>have barely enough to get this achievement or on upgrading everything and buying the favors

>More like Thief plus Deus Ex, you fucking underaged.
Victor Antonov was the same designer for both half life and dishonored you fucking retard.

poor man's System Shock

>its canon Corvo & Daud were both cucks

He was probably referring to design, rather than art. Victor Antinov was only an artist for the game.

Do you mean their largely non-lethal playstyle?

Corvo spares Daud and he fucks off to Serkanos.

>He was probably referring to design, rather than art. Victor Antinov was only an artist for the game.
How can someone be this retarded?

dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Viktor_Antonov

Have you considered suicide, user? You really should.

Daud was just doing a job, Lord Regent was the instigator.

Man, I get this train of thought, but he murdered the woman he loved front of him. I find it hard to believe that sparing him is canon.
Though I think his encounter should be you both hunting the other one in a large, locked warehouse. Missed an opportunity, that.

Magic bros gotta stick together

dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/The_Deep_Watchers

how did they find book?

It's easy. You've just gotta observe things and then bypass them.

You can do it without even firing a shot.
