Valve has constantly alluded to TF2 being a guinea pig for new business practices, including shit like crates, keys, hats & so on.
So they did the same with CS:GO, and it's fucking huge there. Reps from valve have even gone up and said that it's a successful system and they are making billions out of it. Compare that with the revenue made from selling ANY of their SP games in the past few years and it will pale in comparison to the shit they made in CS:GO & TF2.
