Nobody buys a Sony console for Sony anything since they entered the market. They dumped all their good ip's after a couple games and decided to keep stupid meatheads as long term IP's. If Nathan Drake is your strongest character IP, you have a problem. He's a fucking bland ass white guy as the face of a Japanese company. Although, it kinda suits modern Sony in that regard.

Nintendo has like 20 % stocks in pokemon company sure, but Nintendo isn't really saved just because a pokemon product is blowing up like crazy.

Do you know how much 20% of millions of dollars is? They're gonna be making plenty of money in the long run.

Sony doesn't have a mascot because they didnt rehash 250 Crash games since it's inception and force it down our throats, instead they decided to make a wide variety of games catering to plenty of different video game interest. They literally have the most diverse first party game line up in console history and make the most and different amount of games than any other manufacture like Nintendo and Microsoft. Is that better or is having a marketable face?

The draw of Sony consoles has always been a strong third and first party line up, that doesn't have a face, their appeal lies in the sheer variety of games you can experience on their consoles. That's hard to market but its better than a smaller selection of games from a company with strong brand power.

No kidding, making slimmer versions with minor features added is one thing, but making a machine with different, more powerful specs is fucking retarded.

I have both consoles and a PC, and the last thing I want to deal with on consoles is yet another devices I need to keep up to date by buying a new one every few years.

At least with a PC I can just replace a few components...

And that will go back down to a normal level within a few weeks. Market cap is a completely artificial number. There are companies in the hundreds of billions that have never turned a profit or even produced a product that can disappear overnight when the VC dries up.

Nobody buys Playstations for the first party line up except fanboys and Neogaf. Sales back this up. Most people buy them because they cater to the Graphics Whale crowd who buy GTA and Call of Duty ritualistically. Basically the only current market left on consoles.
