DeSu is a decent place to start with SMT in my opinion even though it still feels like Persona due to the anime aesthetic. If you're enjoying it so far you should try out Strange Journey after you're done. From there you can go to Nocturne, the Digital Devil Saga duology and the Raidou series.

I got like 40 hours into DDS but I got bored in the underground sewers or whatever. I'll probably play DeSu2 and then SMT4 since I have my 3DS homebrewed.

Is the raidou series the one thats a shitty hack and slash?

DDS is totally worth playing through despite all its bullshit. The sequel gets almost everything right.
Make sure you play pic related before you play SMT4. Trust me. It's not a direct sequel or anything but there are a few nods to it here and there, plus it's just really good overrall.
Raidou feels clunky but the story and atmosphere saved it for me so I still recommend it.

is it playable on 3ds ? I don't own a DS and hate emulating handhelds on my desktop.

If DDS 2 is good then I'll just finish 1, the gameplay was good the plot was just boring to me and didn't build upon the really good premise.

Playing DeSu:O for the first time and Yuzu's 8th Day is really kicking my party's ass. Am I supposed to do an NG+ and come back, or do I just need to git gud?

I love how in SMTIV End Talks ASAP was better than giving demons everything they want. Especially with the females

8th days are all bullshit. Abuse the shit out of full party revives and whatever gimmicky skills you can. NG+ helps but it's doable without it.

Space marine's bizzare adventure was the best entry.
It captured the spirit of all that SMT is in one game, seeing as how it's practically the last "real" SMT.

Any DS game is playable on a 3DS. If yours is hacked then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Started playing Strange Journey recently, when does the story get more interesting? I'm not that far in, just finished the rare forma mission in Antlia, but the game hasn't really been grabbing me so far for some reason in ways that SMT 4 and Nocturne did.

Holy shit, I'm going through my first PT now. Made my file two days ago, and I'm nearing 18:00 on Day 2.

Should I really go for Yuzu's "RUN AWAAAAAY!" ending for my first PT? It doesn't really fit with the MC I've made. Also, how should I be building the MC? I'm up to 12 MA right now, but is full MA viable?

Go with whatever ending seems most interesting to you. Why would you pick Yuzu's if you don't want to?

You don't need to worry too much about how you build the MC, the game is rather easy so you'll be fine with any build.

From my experience, the best build is the following:
- 8 str for holy dance
- 6 vit for endure
- ~15 agi, mainly just to outspeed enemies
- everything else in magic until you cap it

Personally I found yoohoo's to be the least interesting, even if her 8th day was pretty good. Amane's is great if you want to become Jesus walking, and Chaos end lets you get real fucking evil.

You can just save scum in SMT4

I don't remember about SMT 4 but in final you can reduce the cost of the demon compendium pretty quickly so you don't have to bother with negotiation so much.

Also if you abuse the elements by fusing the cheapest demon of the same race together, you can upgrade your demon for a low price.
