No

>wanting to play a civ game at launch

Post yfw the mp is still unstable as shit and wont let you finish games.

Please let them pick someone other than Gustaf II Adolf for Sweden this time. We had more than one king, dammit.

lol

not an argument

yeah I don't think most of those are going to be correct.

stop making shit up

Naw. Just like they will never do anyone else then Bismark for germany.

Oh hey, I was about to make a thread about this.

But as long as you've got this up, I might as well note that it's slightly out of date - France is Catherine de Medici.

First row, we're clearly beginning with THEODORE ROOSEVELT and AMERICA.

Next is definitely An-Nasir Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub, more commonly known as SALADIN, who would definitely head ARABIA as he did in Civ IV.

Third seems to be Moctezuma II, usually spelled MONTEZUMA in Civ and leader of the AZTECS. (He was the Montezuma leading when the Spanish arrived - the one in Civ V was Moctezuma I, who reigned around 60 years prior)

Next is a match for DOM PEDRO II of BRAZIL - returning from his first appearance in the Brave New World expansion. The portrait is from younger days, but it's the same guy.

Last is hard to match, but given the location it's surely QIN SHIHUANGDI of CHINA.

xcom 2 worked fine on launch

5 still isn't entirely playable yet.

Second row starts, though also hard to source, with CLEOPATRA of EGYPT.

Next is certainly VICTORIA of ENGLAND.

In the middle, though, is a surprise- CATHERINE DE MEDICIS of FRANCE. This one eluded positive ID for a while, but the pictures seem to match up! This is her first apperance, and I think she's sure to have a very political game.

Fourth in line seems to clearly be BARBAROSSA of GERMANY. Technically not a newcomer to Civ - he was the male leader in Civ 2!

Last has been defying identification. There's guesses based on its location (Georgia's one, though it's alphabetically before Germany), but no one knows for sure. Do you have a guess?

Third row appears to be another returning leader from Civ IV- PERICLES of GREECE.

Next is beyond all doubt MOHANDAS GANDHI of INDIA, marking his sixth unbroken appearance in the series - to date the only one never to be replaced in the vanilla game!

Beyond him is HOJO TOKIMUNE of JAPAN. We already knew he was in and a matching picture was found.

Then we've got the first newcomer Civ with Mvemba a Nzinga, better known as AFONSO I of the kingdom of KONGO. Sub-Mediterranean Africa seems to always have a new representative in the base game after Civ 1-3's Zulu.

Last is another murky one- given the position and previous Civs, it would fit MONGOLIA, the OTTOMAN empire, or PERSIA, but no one's found a clearly matching picture to my knowledge. Thoughts?

>Trajan
But didn't they confirm Julius Caesar?

Fourth row looks to start with another returning Civ first introduced in Civ V's expansions, but this time it's Queen JADWIGA of POLAND making her debut in the series!

Next up appears to be another first - emperor TRAJAN of ROME. Rome did have a lot of well-documented rulers, so it's not bad for the Caesars to sit this one out!

Third is PETER I (the Great) of RUSSIA, taking the reins from Catherine this go around! Civ IV was his first apperance in the games.

After that is apparently the second series newcomer for the game in TAMYRIS of SCYTHIA (also known Tomyris and other spellings, and more specifically the Massagetae confederation of Scythians, but who's counting?). Fended off Cyrus the Great. Probably going to have to work it like Atilla given how little we know of spoken Scythian.

Last is kind of a head-scratcher - the picture seems to be ISABELLA OF PORTUGAL of SPAIN (despite the name, she never ruled Portugal, despite being in the line for succession- her son used that claim to be King of Portugal, though); wife of Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor, she was regent of Spain on some occasions and mother of Philip II.

In the last row, there's a pretty disputed picture. Not too surprising, given how common the look and pose was at the time, really, but it seems to most closely match PHILIP II of SPAIN - which, alluding to the previous row, is quite strange if his mother is in the game, too. Confirmation of multiple rulers? Mistaken identification? Something else? There's a list of other ideas, too, though none really seem to fully match.

Last is GILGAMESH of SUMERIA, another returning player.

>Nzinga, better known as AFONSO I of the kingdom of KONGO

It's all based on this image which seems to have 18+4 DLC leader portraits arranged alphabetically by Civ.

Wtf ?
Why is cleopatra not black
I am african american and I find it offensive to white wash my ancestors

Makes no sense to have Isabel of Portugal in the game.

cleopatra was greek

She is black, are you blind?

what are the best civ 5 mods?

Why are the women so repulsive in this game?

The best theory I've seen is that Isabella of Portugal's portrait came up on Google Images when they were grabbing an image of Isabella of Spain to put up.

It's the fifth result.

It's not just the women who look terrible.

But then, with Philip in the game she would be redundant too.

They should use Ossetian for Scythian speech.

It might not be Philip, though. He seems to fit the picture, but there are a lot of rulers of the time with black armor in that pose from a lot of different countries.

>when your dad comes home from a suicide bombing

>mfw I don't play mp and enjoy my own pace

>Do you have a guess?

Last one could be en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamar_of_Georgia if it's georgia and they're pushing for female leaders.

What's with her tits? Why are they so droopy and saggy?

Afrocentric Civilization where everyone is black and doesn't have the white-washing history from da wite peeple when?

>Pericles of Greece
>of Greece
>Greece
Fuck we have /his/ for a reason you uneducated nigger faggot piece of shit

hellenic = greek in modern vernacular

sorry

Why the fuck did they make based Roosevelt so fat? He was extremely athletic in his life.

I get that he's Athenian, but the Civ's between Germany and India on the chart. Unless it's going to be the Hellenic League/Republic this time, but Pericles was during the Delian League so that's kind of out imo.

>no native american or scandinavian civ
>instead we get brazil, poland and possibly georgia
What the fuck?

Think C5 might be Ardashir I of Sassanid Persia? I'd rather have Khosrau.

>>no native american
Aztecs are already confirmed

He's of Greece in Civ IV. Blame Firaxis.

Probably not Georgia. Looks like a woman, and the obvious choice would be Queen Tamar. I can't find a statue of her that looks like that.

>that face
>that everything
my dick

I think that's as good a guess as any.

What's the source on all the blurry little thumnnails everyone's matching leaders to?

It's from the new preview video they put out on their channel

Oh damn, well they fucked that up pretty bad eh?

youtube.com/watch?v=8GXFpBa9kD8

Well consider me triggered

Those tits look heavy af famm

>specifically say they want True Start maps to be more balanced
>base game looks like this

Fuck filesize limits.

Wait, not even Zulus are confirmed yet? The fuck?

Zulus haven't been in the base game since III.

The list of pictures we found for what seems to be pictures of the leaders looks to be alphabetical and ends with Sumir.

Roosevelt/USA
Cleopatra/Egypt
Victoria/Britain
Qin Shi Huang/China
Hojo Tokimune/Japan

are the only confirmed civs outside of speculation

the game is still shit, until they remove stock and executions

every working game is playable

This is speculation fueled by official footage, at least.

Now I'm excited. Glad to see they're picking new leaders.

Thanks!

with as many new leaders as there are i wonder if they're going to do "classic rulers" dlc

Fuckin seriously. She has the same weird-ass body type as Sera from Dragon Age.

This Thursday is Bastille Day. If they preview France under Catherine then, this is all confirmed.

I think a LOT of the sassanid shahanshahs have a relief like that, so it could be any of them. It represents the investiture of the emperor, on the right is the previous shahanshah, on the left the new one. The picture is definitely this sort of motiff because it shows the emperor with the right arm raised to grab the cydaris ring. We just have to look into all the available reliefs and figure out which one looks more like the picture.

Here's a good start: livius.org/sao-sd/sassanids/sassanid-reliefs.html

I wouldn't mind a Sassanid Persian. Persia's been in the base game since 2, as well.

It's between Ger and Gr, can't be Georgia.

I think the odds are likely since it seems to be distinctively this sort of relief. There's a wide array of possibilities between Ko and Po, but I doubt they'd make a game at this point without Persia.

No, at launch it will be below average for a Civ, then after one expansion it will be acceptable. Only after 2 expansions will it be great again.

>Sumer is back
Cool, seemed weird that they were dropped last time.

No you don't

t. Alfonso Barbosa

>Mongolia not planned for base game or the first 4 DLC
what de fug

>Mvemba a Nzinga, better known as AFONSO I

t. Afonso Barbosa

At which moment does the picture show up?

>Saladin
People are going to get buttblasted by this again.

2:50

Thanks. How in the fucking world did you guys catch that?

Going over every frame for possible info, probably.

>England
>Victoria
>Queen of the BRITISH empire
>England
>German queen
>England
amerilard education everyone

lol

I Just hope we have a Canadian.

I don't expect it to be ready at launch.

Which leader would Canada have?

WE

B5 could be Gran Colombia? I can't think of many other countries within this range.

>no south east asians or native north Amercians
a bit surprised, guess they'll be second round DLC unless they go straight for an expansion

le weed man

Diefenbaker

There's always a bunch of them, no doubt they'll be included despite not being on that list. It might also be a tentative list rather than definitive.

Ghana
Goths
Golden Horde
Granada

Golden Horde would simply be Mongols. Granada is possible but it's easier to go with Cordoba or Al-Andalus. Goths is actually possible, but I think they'd still go with something broader. Ghana is a very real possibility. There's also Gran Colombia.

It is a little strange that it's so Eurocentric this time, even if that's Ed's wheelhouse.

I can't see them not doing an expansion, though, and assuming that's Persia on the grid (which would mean that every Civ that's been in every base game since 2 is present), that leaves:

Austria
Byzantium
Celts
Carthage
Denmark/Vikings
(Holy Roman Empire)
Huns
Netherlands
Ottomans
Portugal
Sweden (might already be in the base)
Venice

For series Civs in the general Mediterranean Eurasian sphere.

Mesopotamia's region has had Assyria, Babylon, and Hatti.

So we're looking at

Ethiopia
Inca
Indonesia
Iroquois
Khmer
Korea
Mali
Maya
Mongolia
Morocco
(Polynesia)
Shoshone
Siam
Sioux
Songhai
Zulu

for Civs in the Americas, Africa, and Asia/Oceania that could return.

They're not usually this eurocentric. This is probably not a final list.

No based Hannibal
