battletoads
It's called Mountain King on the Atari 2600.
>shitposting aside
>all other games btfo.jpg
Tetris.
>5 billion years to fully explore a world where everything is the same and nothing to do
It's almost like ''The 1:1 scale galaxy'' in Elite Dangerous that turned out to be bunch of pointless shit
Why don't they write articles about how long it would take to explore all possible minecraft seeds
Skyrim. Playing skyrim for the first time was god tier. NMS Will just sacrifice gameplay for a huge world.
Procedural generation is not intentional design.
>OH MY GOD YOU GUYS IT WOULD TAKE 5 BILLION YEARS TO GET EVERY ITEM COMBINATION IN BINDING OF ISAAC.
this
Minecraft?
5 million repetitive, boring years.
Literally 99% of vidya.
Who cares?
>LOOK HOW BIG IT IS!
Whoa. So what can you do to take advantage of that open space? Sight seeing? Then I hope it's not more than $30.
THE SHILLING THE SHILLING
>NO CAMPAIGN
>NO MULTIPLAYER
>NO MISSIONS
>NO LEVEL DESIGN
>"COMBAT"
>RANDOMLY GENERATED EVERYTHING
>60 DOLLARYDOOS
no shitpost, this game will bomb like Wildstar. Devs are too pompous. Clouding their judgement, making them think that they've honored their concept when they really havent even scratched the surface
>1:1 scale galaxy
So does you travel at the speed of light for 20 years just to get to the next solar system?
This. Elite Dangerous galaxy will take a million years to explore. Minecraft worlds can take a million years to explore.
I wish the mods would do their fucking jobs and start moving the duplicate threads to /vg/ or removing them.
Can't wait until this game gets 10/10 and makes bank. And all the while Sup Forums will cover their ears and keep on insisting that it was a failure. You fuckers sicken me.
Aw man, I'll never get to this, I'm still busy collecting all hundred million guns in Borderlands.
WOW ITS THE EXACT SAME THREAD WITH THE EXACT SAME PICTURE BEING POSTED BY THE EXACT SAME OP.

Literally any other randomly generated open world game. Creating a world generator that generates a trillion worlds doesn't mean shit unless they can make at least a fraction of those world interesting, which I can already tell you that they can't. The problem is that you just can't make a world generator that does not get repetitive, unless you would waste so much time on it that it becomes more efficient to just make a hand crafted world.
yo does each unique landscape provide unique gameplay?
no?
wow who gives a shit.
If it's not something they cared to design themselves, then you'd have to have no taste to enjoy it. The game is going to be pure bullshit and the majority of the game is just going to be redundant copy-paste. It's not like they're going to be anything special because chances are nobody would ever even come across the specific planet if any of them had any unique features.
This game is quantity over quality.
I don't understand much tech-wise but I think they did put a lot of efforts into this. Some of the worlds they've showed look pretty interesting, one of the videos had a giant worm straight out of Dune for fuck sake. And I heard they created little programs to make gifs of plents automatically to check the possible variations, which I think is pretty cool.
Can't really see how it holds up without playing it however.
You don't belong on this board
Serious question:
What do you actually do in this game aside from looking at planets?
>they created little programs to make gifs of plents automatically to check the possible variations
???
ncie falseflag
Is that the game that glitches out like crazy?
this is the game that will change sony from a billion dollar company to a trillion dollar company
cannot fucking wait
This means literally nothing, the game generates all of its content by plugging a number into an algorithm. The headline may as well read "there are a lot of numbers".
>quantity over quality
Sure, this one.
Wow, an indie open world game about nothing. Truly amazing and totally not done to death.
store.steampowered.com
If you are gonna shill this garbage, try to be a bit less obvious.
>caring about gameplay in a game all about atmosphere and immersion
Damn I'm tired, I'll try to word it better then go to bed.
They made programs to create gifs of planets generated from their algorithm to check if the planets are varied enough.
>trump
take that shit back to Sup Forums

Here is a (you)
lol jk ;^)
Most atmospheric games that you immerse yourself in are either very short, or have some gameplay to back them up.
This is supposed to be ultra long, with very little gameplay in addition to base exploring.
This. Where is the actual gameplay? There is nothing to do but look at random shit for no real reason but to waste time.
Did I make it in before "numale"?
And it will be 99% empty boring randomly generated shit
If it wasnt it would take 8 billion years just to make the game
worked out great for minecraft
not every game needs gameplay retard
Who is saying this? The next Todd Howard?
Well then it should be priced accordingly, dipshit.
You know as long as companies pay for shilling I don't mind pirating their products. Fair's fair.
Is this the birth of a new epic meme?
>lmao five planets copied and pasted 999,999,999,999,999,999 times LOL
Hey, Skyrim had infinite quests too.
From what they've shown, the gameplay is shooting other spacecraft and shooting things with your gun on foot. Shooting anything other than the dirt when you're on foot spawns robot police out of thin air, and defending yourself will repeat the process until there are too many of them and you die.
That's it.
why is everyone calling it nu male sky? just because it was made by white people? every white person is already a nu male though
>Shitposting aside
>Proceeds to shitpost
Nice OP
>selling point is massive scope of game
>it's full of Proteus filler shit
Anyone else find that contradictory
>gaming in 2016
That's because minecraft had shit to do like fucking BUILDING SHIT, which is the only reason minecraft is successful.
Do you think people in minecraft say "MAN I LOVE GOING FROM FORREST BIOME TO SNOW BIOME THEN BACK AGAIN"?
>blocky shit
guess what, you can draw blocks in paint as well you autist shitkys
>Procedural generation is not intentional design.
It is not mutually exclusive of intentional design. The generator responds to rules set forth by the devs.
it feels like the entire sales pitch for the game is it's got a "really really big" map
"really really big" means fuck all for a procedurally generated game. Notch could have made the minecraft map "a bazillion square miles" but that does not automatically make the game better or more interesting
Buddy, I'm not defending minecraft, I'm shitting on your stupid fucking hollow indie game that they cranked the price up from $15 to $60 because you dumb fucks think the dev's of joe danger can entertain you for 87 billion years by walking on different colored grass.
>ms paint is the same as 3d legos
minecraft is autism incarnate but you are a fucking dipshit.
>ATTENTION WHOEVER IS PAYING FOR THESE SHILLS. A FEW DAYS AGO Sup Forums WAS CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THIS GAME, NOT KNOWING MUCH ABOUT IT EXCEPT FOR THE MARKETING HYPE. MANY ANONS WERE PLANNING ON TRYING IT OUT.
AFTER A FEW DAYS OF INCESSANT SHILLING ANONS HAVE DEDICATED THEMSELVES TO FINDING UNEARTHING THE TRUTHS ABOUT THIS SCAM GAME, AND THAT HAS RESONATED THROUGHOUT Sup Forums. NOW NOBODY WANTS TO TRY THIS GAME.
SHILLING DOESNT WORK. ITS BAD FOR Sup Forums AND ITS BAD FOR YOUR BUSINESS.
Maybe you should quit gaming and instead waste your time on interactive screen savers.
>Elite: Dangerous minus all the features that make it good
no thanks
this game is going to suck
prove me wrong
Caps doesn't bring attention to your post it just makes you run-on sentences unreadable.
>WOAH! A BLUE PLANET WITH RED TREES AND GREEN FISH
>WOAH! A BLUE PLANET WITH GREEN TREES AND YELLOW FISH
>WOAH! A RED PLANET WITH YELLOW TREES AND YELLOW FISH
>WOAH! A YELLOW PLANET WITH PURPLE TREES AND WHITE FISH
>WOAH! A GREEN PLANET WITH ORANGE TREES AND PURPLE FISH
>WOAH! A PURPLE PLANET WITH WHITE TREES AND YELLOW FISH
>WOAH! A BLUE PLANET WITH PURPLE TREES AND RED FISH
What do you even do in this game? The devs haven't even shown anything other than MUH PROCEDURAL UNIVERSE, which means they are hiding the fact that there is absolutely NO good gameplay. The closest thing they've shown to gameplay is shooting fucking crystals for resources. Why? So you can go from your red planet with red deer and red crystals to a blue planet with blue deer to mine blue crystals, then to a green planet, etc etc, until you reach the center where they'll give you a pat on the head for sitting through their dog turd of a game. Oh, and those planets you just mined from? Those changes aren't saved, which means it's IMPOSSIBLE to leave a long-lasting impact on the universe. Wowee, truly an engaging, innovative, next-gen experience.
No meaningful gameplay+no story+no multiplayer=shit game, a fucking walking simulator. The 6gb of data just confirms this; it's fucking nothing: the video game. Nu Male's Spore is the embodiment of everything wrong with this generation of """""gaming""""", where devs write code to shite out a mess, instead of crafting the game, by hand, themselves. And 60 dollars? Seriously? For this crappy little INDIE game? How could you defend a game where the devs charge $60 for procedurally generated nothing? Oh, that's right, modern "gaymers" will empty their wallets to gargle whatever feces developers decide to throw their way these days.
From the developers of the classic, award winning series Joe Danger, Hello Games brings you Spore 2.0: an absolute fucking disappointment! It's literally minecraft without building. It's 3D Starbound, but even worse. I don't see why anyone could be hyped for this garbage. Have you people not learned your lesson?
the way the system will work isn't based on distance, you will just go in straight line for some time until the game rolls you a new chunk that has a planet
the planets will be very close together compared with irl
i also am betting that you could travel back and forth a certain distance and eventually a new chunk will roll and appear as if you've been traveling in a straight line
I think there's absolutely no multiplayer at all in the game, and that it was a marketing lie
I think discovered worlds that have been named etc will be added to the list of rollable chunks for other players to discover, and that the arrangement of systems and plants for each player will be different
calling it now
Yeah, also I feel like PC is going to kill video games. Phone games have been dead since the beginning, but this is actually something I care about
Thanks to the fedoration of redditors that subscribe to the idea of "PC master race" and other ironic shit that people take seriously, they are going to make it so that PC is a monopoly and that every game released every also gets released on PC
On the surface, this seems like a good deal
>"Ayy, I getz to play my vidyer so what's the problem user?"
Well the thing is, exclusives will no longer exist. Why you might cry in joy, that means that the quality of games will drastically drop. Now that you don't need to make people spend hundreds of dollars on a piece of tech, you have no reason to spend so much time trying to make the best game ever
On the other hand, PC is an oversaturated market. The only thing that succeed there is shitty pixelshit indiefart "games" because they cost nothing to make and ASSFAGGOTS and other MMOs. So Your niche JRPG isn't going to sell anything since it's not what people want. That's like advertising your cock rings between children's cartoons.
And not to mention the whole "Steamsale" thing. Again "blablabla it's good FOR ME, therefore, why not?".
Well because developers will no longer want to make games since people always buy games en masse when a sale happens so they buy them at %75 off, meaning the developer makes jack shit even if they sell a million copies
"But they have to approve it first!" you cry out.
Well the thing is, a copy sold is better than no copies sold. But the reason why no copies are being sold is because people expect AAA games to cost $10
It's like food stamps or other shit. While it's not as impactful there since you NEED to go to a super market, people getting shit at %75 off is going to crash the economy. Fucking Berniecuck logic
ALSO, the online community is even worse. Mainly because of reddit killing every multiplayer game
Please buy my game.
you don't know shit about how game sales work
steam sales don't equal profit loss for a publisher, steam takes the hit - the copies were paid for by steam in an agreement before the customer even has the option to purchase
this whole thing is bait but
>without exclusivity we have no reason to put effort on the game
>people will buy shitty products purely out of brand loyalty
this is my turf kid
Normie.
Is this the new Borderlands 10 billion unique guns?
give me your money or else
Are you talking abour E:D or NMS? Cause you go from solar system to solar system in nms by using your warp drive. so I doubt you can just pick a direction and fly to it until you reach the next star.
Plus I think MP was confirmed a while ago, I don't see what's technically impressive about it so I dunno why you think it's a lie
Get out of my thread, Todd.
brah
there is no MP in NMS
the only confirmation was that there is no MP
What. Source??
billion, nigga. billion.
this. from everything I've seen from the game, the planets all look the same except for some colors and differently shaped mountains
I've read an article published today that there was, I try to stick with the latest infos. Maybe you got confused because the devs themselves don't want to sell it as a multiplayer game so they downplay it
*and your phone number too.
Any game that is bigger than 6gb
GUYS
IT'S /TWICE/ THE SIZE OF GREAT BRITAIN
HOLY SHIT
IMAGINE ALL THE FUN YOU CAN HAVE EXPLORING EVERYTHING
WAITING FOR THE DAY WHEN Sup Forums WILL BE ABSOLUTELY UNEQUIVOCALLY BTFO
Daggerfall is good, but you get my point
can't wait for that unity remake to be done
how small does your time perspective have to be to ask a question like that? if video games are, rounding down, thirty years old, do you think there's any chance in hell that - minus the destruction of civilization - someone in the next even twenty years won't take this model and one up it?
>paying for games
Is that still coming along?
How much progress has there been in the past year.
this
valve buys a million of the game for 60 dollars at release
then keeps them in storage so to speak until 2 years later where they sell them for 75% off
everybody wins
dont listen to these xbot drones they are pissed of sony won AGAIN
it has multiplayer and its intuitive and great because you won't know if other player is an npc or a real person
it really makes you thikn
>community projects
>ever finishing
kek
well they don't pay full price for them at release, it's just like any manufacture bulk discount
valve gets a discount so they can make a profit too
every retailer gets a discount at release, walmart didn't pay $60 for that last game you picked up
but even still, a steam sale doesn't mean the developer/publisher lost any money, it means valve is losing money
games that get put into sales are ones that may have been overstocked, virtually speaking so steam wants to move those units by lowering the price and reducing their losses
It has to do something to surpass in order to set a precedent to overcome.
PC brah, games going to suck the MP is a lie
have fun exploring different combinations of the same thing
shut up they sell them for 75% less than what they paid for because valve are brotier
