It was good, but it was no FF5.
Of course I did. Why would you even make a thread implying people don't openly love it?
Never trust a remaster.
>Its Tidus' story
>except 90% of it is following Yuna on a quest that is ultimately pointless
>FFX-2 and 2.5 make Tidus' story even more pointless
It has the worst story in the FF series tied with FFIV.
>Hated IV
How do you live with such bad opinions? It has some of the best characters, and the story is pretty good for an early snes game.
The only FF game I would consider all around bad is 2. The rest range from great to ok.
Nope. Hated everyone and everything except Auron, Kimahri and a few creatures like Anima.
And only because they had decent designs.
Story was a mess, VA was terrible and the game didn't allow for much freedom compared to many other jRPG's.
...
>VA was awful
Opinion discarded.
Liked the gameplay, story was okay in beginning but meh hated the twist about whole
Tidus not actually being from Zanarkand, nor even a real person but merely some kind of person out of a dream, coming from a dream version of zanarkand
like what the heck.
Wouldnt just have been better timetravel or him somehow having been revived been better instead of creating some kind of complicated backstory like that ...
U bet I did, but it was no FF9
I've always loved it and I've always been open about loving it
The women in IV are good. The men are complete idiots rushing to kill themselves. And the story is Naruto level stupid. Hell, Golbez literally is Naruto.
You're God damn right, but it was no FF7.
The Japanese cannot do uncomplicated backstories.
Of courshe, it's an objectively great game and people who don't like it just have straight up shit taste unless they just don't enjoy JRPGs in general.
>a mind controlled moon man is literally trouble maker fox boy mary sue
You should explain yourself before I discard your opinion.
And Edge, Cecil, the bard, and the twin weren't that bad
>The Japanese cannot do uncomplicated backstories.
>the only Japanese games I know are Final Fantasy
The backstories in most DQ games are super simple. Yet still more developed than the seemingly complex FF backstories, which often leave huge holes that never get explained.
Nothing different.
Naruto was being influenced and at times controlled by the demon inside him. Golbez is being controlled by a Lunatarian. The only difference is the location of the being doing the controlling.
Also, look at the image. They made him look like Naruto in the remake.
...
Nothing different...
>comparing remaster to emulated 1080p version
wew
...
Remasters are fine. It's this shitty Chinese studio that's fucked up multiple ones, like the upcoming Batman one.
"FF fans" only love one of the games and hate the rest.
It's hard to love more than one of them considering how flawed they all are
DQ is great because it has simple stories and focuses more on the characters.
DQ is also boring as fuck
One of you is right.
>main hero is seemingly pointless in the main story
>extra content at the end of the game is all about the hero and shows how he fits into the main plot
Best ending content in game history.
FFX is one of the easiest FF games. Just wait until you get to the end boss which you literally cannot lose to. Then suddenly there's 'super aeons' with 10x more health and attack than the final boss.
X was only enjoyable because it was the first FF to regularly use character voices. Working designs was already cranking out JRPGs with animated sequences and character voices a good 5 years before X was released- which is why Lunar was far superior to FF. Hell, even Vay was better than FF 8/9. Dark Wizard was better than FF tactics. Phantasy Stars were better than 8/9/10. Just about every fucking title released in the early-mid nineties beat the shit out of FF 8/9/10.
Remember seeing X-2 being released and saying "i'll never buy another fucking FF game".
>X was only enjoyable because it was the first FF to regularly use character voices.
That was actually its biggest flaw since the focus on voice acting and cutscenes is what caused FFX to be so linear and zone focused. As well as the voices being cheesy as fuck.
>Working designs was already cranking out JRPGs with animated sequences and character voices a good 5 years before X was released- which is why Lunar was far superior to FF.
Well apparently you have zero standards for story-telling or voice acting so I don't understand how you think FFX is bad.
>That was actually its biggest flaw...
Somewhat agree. Pushing the aesthetics in a genre where story is everything was the problem. FF titles became tiny stories with filler and mini game showcases.
>Well apparently you have zero standards
bait. Lunar is an infinitely better, more coherent story than any FF ever made. Doesn't rely on lazy writing like "aliens". No filler. No mini game showcases.
I don't know why Sup Forums shits on this game, it's literally the last good final fantasy.
Ehhhhhhhh. It goes from generic porcelain doll to a vaguely attractive and distinctly Chinese face.
Definitely a downgrade in beauty, but I can sorta get behind avoiding the doll-face thing that FFX had going on.
Still, pretty shitty job all around on the part of the remaster. The new soundtrack is a lot better than the old one, though it did have a few blunders. Don't know why the new soundtrack got all the hate it did.
The old models were actually animated and showed emotion, the ones don't really and the eyes are always dead.
Yuna was anything but a doll before.
>Don't know why the new soundtrack got all the hate it did.
Well, it sucked.
>Yuna was anything but a doll before.
Except in personality, emotion and voice acting.
It's time for that replay-through user.
The OST in FFX wasn't that stellar to begin with. There's only so many variations of Suteki De Ne and Zanarkand you can listen to before you start to ignore them. The few songs that weren't remixes were hit and miss. Most of the good songs were done by the composer for FFXIII. But the game had 4 different music writers, so the 'good' songs were only 1/4 the OST.
I just replayed it this Feb with the HD remaster. Story is still one of the worst in gaming. And most of that is tied to Yuna. She's Rinoa 2.0. Her only point in the story is to be an excuse for Tidus to love someone and pay attention to the world. And FF sucks at love stories.
>The OST in FFX wasn't that stellar to begin with.
youtube.com
Jesus fuck, remaster looks like a fucking Xenosaga character.
xenosaga is a bit better desu
I always forget how good FF titles look for their time.
>one track
Okay. Now post about 10 more and you'll have the only good songs in the game. 10 good songs out of 50+ songs is a lackluster OST.
>for their time
That's the key point. They age very poorly. Yes, even FFXII.
That's like any FF game. They have a shitton of ambient tracks
X didn't age poorly for the most part, the only thing that doesn't look good anymore are the FMVs. 12 aged though. Hell it didn't look good when it came out.
Along with FF2 it's in the bottom tier for me.
The FMVs look great though, especially in X-2.
it was genuinely too long to enjoy. i could never finish it when i was younger, and it took me almost 100 hours to finish
FFVI and VIII have well over 75% of the tracks being good. FFX just has a much lower amount. Like 25%.
I dunno looks pretty old to me.
The bright designs helped FFX. But it still aged worse than some other games like Dragon Quest VIII. This can mostly be attributed to FFX trying to have realistic movement and facial expressions. Which obviously look laughable compared to even last gen. Let alone now.
Its a catch 22. Their focus on graphics and realism are their selling point. But it also makes their games dated quickly.
Do you even know what the story is about? Besides the pilgrimage.
FFX looks great if you consider the time that it was made in, barely after the launch of the PS2.
Games likes FXII had more time to learn of the console and therefore develop a far more impressive game, but FFX looks fine for what it is.
ya that opening is great. where sin swallows teedus and jecht.
FFX looks better than DQ8 though and there probably aren't even a handful of JRPGs that have made beter looking character models than FFX despite it's age, since it came out. Most JRPGs are just unimpressive anime shit.
I'm not trying to overstate FFX but I think you're really wrong.
And FF has never tried to look realistic until XV which only hits it in the CG.
this picture actually hurt your point, she looks like a fucking mole
WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
It's mid animation, she gives a puffy faced smile. The remaster she looks like she's about to suck out your soul.
I loved it tbqhwyf.
god yuna is so cute
>FFX looks great if you consider the time that it was made in
But we're not. We're considering it being 'dated' over time. I think the game looks fine from a design standpoint, but not a graphical standpoint.
It still looks good though, jaded faggot.
Well I can't account for how you see it. If I could gouge out your eyes and put them into my eye sockets I would. But I can't.
>Gameplay
Yes
>Bosses and enemies
I like them for the most part
>Trials
Fucking die, that shit only waste your time.
>Villains
Besides Jecht, who is not really a villain, all of them are dumb faggots
>Main characters
I kinda like them, except Wakka, I hate that faggot. Tidus is meh
>Story
I have never seen a story go so wrong by two NPCs that barely had screen time, but thanks to that, I didn't really care about X-2 story and had more fun with that game.
>Spira
A endless hallway will some hills and turns here and there, has more loading screens than XIII.
Please someone tell me a mod to skip cutscenes for the PC version exist, I want to try some challenges but I don't want to watch those fucking cutscenes ever again.
