I've only done Blademaster. Is Gunner worth a shot and which should I use?

Bow is the easiest Gunner weapon to learn and get into, but if you aren't staying in the correct distance then hunts will take a lot longer than normal.

Though they play differently, LBG and HBG both share many fundamentals between each other.

I'm playing guild SnS like I always did.
I love being a walking Swiss army knife.

Considering this is going to be my first non-g-monster hunter, will it feel really lacking in the content department?

HBG: Huge damage potential but low mobility. Adept is a bandaid but won't prevent you from getting gibbed during long animations.

LBG: Good mobility but lower damage potential outside of abusing elemental weakness.

Bow: Great mobility and potential for high damage, but you must stand in Critical Distance and learn to aim near-exclusively at weak points. Critical Distance is easy to learn but some people have a lot of difficulty with pinpoint aiming. Adept makes you incredibly difficult to kill.

Pick your poison. I like Bow the best.

You'll be more bothered by the lack of difficulty than the lack of content if it's anything like previous non-G MH.

Deviant hunts are supposed to fill that role, but we'll see how that goes.

Long time lancer here, the guild third poke feels terrible. Liking striker a lot so far, the guard rage ability is sweet.

There's no high rank village save a few quests that get unlocked when you raise your HR through guild.

Deviant monsters are the endgame.

Striker is the strongest style for Lance, but not for what you posted.

I'm gonna start with SnS and Hammer.
JUST leave the head to me.

I'll be using it finally yes. Only used HBG in bullshit/hame runs before. I'll also be using all blademaster weapons except IG and HH.

I know OP has to make a shitpost to work now since its the new spicy meme but this ain't even spicy anymore. Just write about how bullshit MH is "muh camera, muh clunky" and you're good to go.

Yeah, I've heard the rumors that the charge finish poke has a 70 mv. That's going to take some getting used to, so very used to the rule of three rhythm that the lance had.

I'm actually migrating into a LS shitter Op.

>not using LS in gen
what's your excuse?

>all styles are useful in their own right
>best hunter arts in the game (or at least the flashiest, which is all that matters)
>uses 3U's spirit gauge instead of the shit tier 4U one

At least you won't be spamming wider slashes like a motherfucker in this game

LS and Bow are the new CB and IG

Don't even need to use them ever with that Adept 2-3 hit meter filling combo.

Hammer vet here
That's not going to happen 80% of the time

Rooms?

HH buff slut here

Critical arts are so shit. Probably switching to LS

Just probably going to stick to Hunting Horn and Great Sword like I've done for the past few games.

LS is nowhere close to as overpowered as CB and IG in 4U

it's just a really nicely designed weapon in gen because clearly thought was put into every style to make it unique while still playable
>Guild: the basic LS
>Striker: Lose side slash and spirit follow up, but 3 arts
>Aerial: Easiest way to mantain red of all the 4 arts
>Adept: Crazy good dodge and dodge attack

Adept is too good. Evasion +10

...

Nah, I'll probably try to stay on CB and get back into LS after not giving it much love in 4U.
also DB.

its got more quests than 4U.

So no.

come on you fucks get a room up

Why would I stop using GS and Hammer

i use most weapons but those two are my favorite

Nah, going DS/SNS/SA this time.

I wanna stab it so badly man, just let me do it.

C'mon I can't wait 2 days, I'm itching to kill it right now.

I can get a room up 4U

>giant boomerang weapon was scrapped
dropped

What is Deserted Island like in MHG now that swimming is gone? Started playing MH3U recently and it's fucking comfy, I love island with shallow water settings. The generic battle theme is great too.

This meme is real. My bro didn't even try out the other styles before ditching it for Adept Bow.

basically everything related to swimming is gone. Mostly everything else is still there

A few well placed ledges, that's about it. Beautifully flat. A shame that it didn't get used more.

Probably just like MHP3rd, where all the water areas are gone, but you can walk on some of the water surfaces.
You can try emulating it to have a peek before MHG comes out.

I've wanted a giant boomerang since fucking MH PS2
They'll probably add a third fucking transforming axe first though

So the fully submerged parts of the amp compeletely gone? That would leave out area 12 and 11, but is a portion of 10 still accessible?

Yes. Aquatic monsters sleep in a corner of 10 instead of the cave in 12.

Yep.
Area 10 coast is still there, but the jump from 8 now leads to there instead of area 11.
If I'm remembering correctly, it's been a while.

SA in 3/4
Bushido SA in MHG

Can you change hunter style at any time?

Yes

Not on a hunt.
But any time you are in the village.

I'm still sticking with CB in Generation.

What's the point of Guild HH? The double swing does shit damage and makes it harder to use a regular swing while running towards the monster, and the arts are bad. Adept is superior in every regard.

>that absolutely fucking insane range nerf after 3U

Why do I even use this shitty weapon anymore

>but some people have a lot of difficulty with pinpoint aiming
I wouldn't have any trouble if I knew which spots of the monster were weakest. I only started using Bow in the demo and I've got no idea what the best damage zones are, but I can hit Narga in the head perfectly.

pretty sure critical distance effects all three weapon types.

No, BGs do max damage at point blank range with bullets like normal. Only pierce needs proper distancing.

Can't decide between SNS and SA, going to use Guild Style tho. I prefer the normal combos. Don't need a third hunter art or being able to jump around like a retard.

I'm using aerial hammer

This, just change Hammer to HH. But I love me some Hammer too.

Tried using Bow in the demo. Was pretty fun, but it took me 20 mins to beat the Great Maccao. Any tips on how to use it?

Critical distance + apply your coatings.

pellet has a minimum critical distance of 1 roll.

Don't stand too far away, but also not too close. It's a mid-range weapon.
If the screen doesn't shake on a hit you are either too far, or too close.
The sweetspot is somewhere around the highest point in the arrows arc when you aim. Also , yes, don't forget coating.

DUAL BLADES MASTER RACE

So what kind of damage do bows do? I'm guessing it's impact, right? I know I could Google but I figured asking this here would be good for me and other newbie bow users to see.

Been using bow since Freedom 2, which was my first monster hunter.
I might just stick with guild, but only time will tell.

Longsword is fucking back!!!!!
Bushido Longsword and Aerial Switch axe!!

Nope, the third type, shot damage.

Some do piercing as well just depends on the bow the seregios bow in 4u did piercing I think

Mained GS, CB, DBs, LS, SnS, HH, Bow.

I have never done single player Monster Hunter as ranged before, and adept bow seems to benefit more than any other class from the dodge. Crit distance has always been easy, and the crunching noises and pews are satisfying.

I'm going bow at the start. While the CB changes are a bit silly, that's not the reason I'm "maining" bow.

You're a pleb if you main one weapon in MH and should be ashamed of yourself for calling yourself a hunter.

Do I stick with GS or should I try switching to something else for MHG?
I really, really like how heavy and powerful it feels, but it gets boring at times.

This thing is really beautiful. That design looks divine.
I'm really looking forward to carving its guts out!

>They'll probably add a third fucking transforming axe first though

Real axe when? or how about splitting the axe part away from the switch axe and into its own weapon?

Just try other weps out, GS can be the wep you use when you feel uncomfortable or stuck on a monster since you are comfortable with the weapon

Is there one of these:

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q2mmE1kNresl_oVEw0MbTFNt2WENJHtzRXGpPPR1COY/edit?pli=1#gid=0

For MHX?

That's something I want to know so I can use HBG properly. What is the right distance to shoot at an enemy?

I only assume the damage remains similar in all ranges but since Bow has Critical Distance is better to be sure.

Sounds like a plan.
Any suggestions? I'm somewhat interested in Gunlances.

What monsters do you fight for fun or just to test a new weapon out? I like the Magalas and Chameleos since they're pretty easy grounded meatbags that don't charge a lot and they're Caravan G monsters so they're scaled for single player.

>played 500 hours mh4u
>get bored of melee weapons
>try bowguns, feelsgoodman
>try bow, it's like a match made in heaven
>bow and I are perfect together
>spent many sleepless nights cuddling with my new weaponfu

And now I'm just going to be called a memeing OP weapon bandwaggoner?

Fuck. That. Shit. Y'all niggas stay away from my waifu.

>FU
Greatsword
>3U
Greatsword
>4U
Greatsword
>Generations
Greatsword

I'm so used to it by now that every other weapon type just feels wrong

You meme hipster faggot. Stop being so try hard with the bow.

G Jaggis are the best punching bags.
So far, my favorite hunt was when the Jaggi got bit on the ass by one of his own kids and fell over right in front of me.

Brachy or Ziggy are the ones I like to fight when I get the random urge to hunt a monster even if I haven't played the game in a couple weeks or whatever.
They are just nice fast paced fights with cool battle themes.

How's HAMMAH in this one?

It was the first weapon I mained in a monhun game and I'm thinking of coming back to it (I've mained GS, HM, HH, SnS, CB, and SA before)

But I saw how utterly dogshit it was in 4U and I'd rather not suffer through it if the game is hard heads, high heads, 2fast heads, and lolnoKO deluxe

Single player maccao? Just tried it and finished in about 6 minutes if you want an arbitrary time to aim for. Start with poison, use all the power coatings, sleep and 2 barrels.

>Oh shit, all these new styles look pretty fun
>End up using Hammer with guild style like I've basically played every game before this
As cool as it is to jump up in the air and fire a bow below me, I just want to knock shit over with a giant hammer.

Oh I'll try my very hardest with the bow, if you know what I mean.

>high heads
Aerial.

>lolnoko
Not exactly what you might want, but exhaust now takes priority over rage, so Ham, HH, and all the other impact weapons were buffed.

Don't know about the others.

Give it a shot I personally have only used it for little bit
I usually use Switch Axe and Longsword
You can try bowguns if you want a change of pace heavy bowguns are really fun to use

CBfags won't get Critical Distance down then bitch about taking forever hunting. That being said I can solo Noctowl in the demo with a bow in like 7 minutes.

My mains are going to be LS and IG, Striker/Adept and Aerial respectively.

I'll probably try to pick up an aerial bowgun in HR, also Aerial CB is surprisingly fun and decent, it just doesn't play like any other CB style at all. Guild Hammer and Adept GL are cool too.

It's nice to have this much choice.

Aerial hammer, you say?
youtube.com/watch?v=TfAF_FLEVfA

>not going Striker

do you like the charge hit that much?

Nah im joining the aerial SA bandwagon.
JE SUIS MONTÉ

STILL WAITING ON MY WHIP SWORD MH DEVS! IT WAS IN THE MANGA AND HAD WIND ELEMENT!

No bows do piercing damage, they all do Shot-type damage. Even if the bow has Pierce charges on it, those arrows still deal Shot-type damage. Don't spread misinformation.

There's also a dog pal, but they canned that idea for some reason

>no green sharpness until 5* LR

...

>could've gotten man's best friend to hunt monsters like motherfucking Duck Hunt - Monster Edition
>get yowling annoying felines instead as the series mascot

I'm going
Adept LS
Aerial/Guild Hammer
Adept Bow
Adept/Guild SnS
Adept/Aerial DS

>lava monkey
the absolute madmen, they did it!

Low rank stuff (HR1-3)
59-4638-9619-5859
Pass: 7243

There's also the new flame blangonga in mho

What the fuck man we could've gotten that instead of these piece of shit cats.

I love my GS. I feels like it's a part of a body of my hunter at this point. I play with other weapons pretty often, but I always return to my trusty GS.

>tfw no mhgenerations on vita
