It's a shit design that got a truly awful mega design. Sharpedo and Aerodactyl are the worst kind of mega, where they just take the base Pokémon and stick spikes and shit all over it.

>2002
ahhhhhh
>2014
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Sharpedo at least has a reason for the spikes (it's a sawtooth shark) but it still looks terrible

Should have done pic related instead

I don't think Sharpedo's design is shit, it's just not great.
Megasharpedo is just...fucking awful

At least Mega Sharpedo's spikes are retractable.

The official art doesn't show that.

Megas are 50/50 terrible/good. In fact recent pokemon design follows this ratio, maybe more bad than good

>That shitty new bear
>That ugly fish

Gamefreak

y didnt they make it a full shark for the evolution?

>Nightmare vision goggles

For what it's worth, they're the only gen 6 two Pokémon I dislike.

I agree with most of this but I am glad the Safari Zone is finally being removed. It was always a shit idea.

>6

You mean 7? Also, so far I hate

>The weasel
>That shitty dragon because of its design
>Pikaboo's lazy concept
>The two legendaries are mediocre imo
>The terribly designed hedgehog-pikachu rip-off

The rest are passable enough that I don't hate them.

Generation 1 was a mistake

Oops I meant 7. Time flies.

I don't see how Pikaboo is a lazy concept though. A ghost that possesses old merchandise because it wants to be as popular as that? That's pretty novel and also meta as fuck.

Megas were a mistake.

Be glad they aren't in Sun and Moon.

>Old merchandise

If it was just old merchandise, the concept would be neat. Judging from what we've seen it's just pikachu, which is lazy as fuck.

>Hey, we can't think of anything new
>How about we just reuse pikachu again
>But we already did through this hedgehog
>Well make it a ghost pikachu

Somebody tried too hard.
>Shark Pokemon
Aw fuck yeah!
>evolves into beefy sawfish with battlescars
>A sawfish

Nobody actually likes Sawfish, despite how savage they can be.

That's just blatantly simplifying. It's not a ghost Pikachu, it's a ghost haunting Pikachu merchandise. You can even tell its real eyes are on its stomach, and it has a claw underneath the cloth that it uses to attack with.

God left us

Gee, how fucking great, they put two eyes on its belly and called it a fucking ghost. You're clearly going to disagree with my logic behind reusing the most rehashed pokemon in the entire series, so let's agree to disagree.

That's because some kid in Sinnoh chucked a master ball at him. The cunt.

It does fundamentally change its concept from "a ghost that looks like a Pokemon" to "a ghost that mimics a Pokemon", but all right, whatever floats your boat.

I think Drampa is conceptually okay, I just wish its eyes weren't as empty, it looks off.

>shitting on pokemon designs
A reminder to get a load of this and be grateful for what you have

>This shit is full of aids, be happy you're only getting regular old shit!

No, it doesn't. Because it's a ghost that inhabits only pikachu merchandise, making it a pikachu rehash. If it inhabited merchandise of various different mons, especially including a throwback to the old substitute doll, it would be a great idea.

But once again, it's a pikachu with a gimmick.

being creatively bankrupt, loading spikes and or glowing neon lines on an already existing model is what lazy devs do.

that shark is aight

>A fucking drop of gay

>bawwww they made a kid's game easier, as opposed as making it harder for adults like me!

I like it. It is definitely over designed though.

don't insult my yokai

That game has some pretty fappable mons.
Yen Shellder is fine.
Weed Shark is okay too.
That fucking assface thing though. Goddamn.

I was just about to say that

This is becoming a reality.

It's an item to evolve a yellow snake thingy (not pictured) into a pink snake thingy with lotus on head, not an actual Yokai.

I agreed with most of the points given until he started to sperg out about models and animations. Are you telling me it bothers you that fucking much that there's no turning animation, so much that YOU NEED TO SUDDENLY START SCREAMING AND COMPARE TO MARIO 64

...

yeah this is a valid point, but you know what that means? that they think current generation of kids is stupid compared to the last.

Meaning they think that somehow i was smarter at age 12 than a 12 year old kid of today. Which doesn't make sense.

There is no logic behind casualising an already casual game.

If a 10 year old can beat the game in 2000 then a 10 year old can beat it in 2016.

>game corner is replaced with an interesting minigame
Guide is too biased towards HGSS. If the minigame was put in ORAS instead of HGSS, that would be listed as a negative because everyone fucking hated voltorb flip when it came out.

Is that a fat kid. And a furry bait. Fuck me I'm sold.

bogleech.com/pokemon/parchive.html
This guy is reviewing every pokemon
If you care i guess

>no battle frontier in ORAS

I'M STILL MAD

>talking shit about Garchomp
okay, he's the most boring motherfucker in meta but the design is good

Stop advertising yourself you desperate betaboi

I disagree.

>skinny limb arms that are expected to be strong
>useless 'wings' that look like they serve no purpose
>three bright colours with no coherence
>spikes in the most useless positions
Garchomp is honestly one of my least favourite Pokémon.

Didn't they even fucking tease it with a model of it, saying like "ooh wee I am sure looking forward for this non-shit postgame!"

apparently pokemon now can go Super Sayan or something and pokefags are apparently ok with this

It's going full Digimon now

Everything went to shit after G2

>trusting the chinaman
The burden is on you, not them.

>Everyone is ok with megaevos

nah

>It's going full Digimon now
After all this time, no Pokémon has looked more like a Digimon than fucking Blastoise.

i had some shitty fast food kids meal toy that looked exactly like that thing. ill probably never know what it was

it's the digivolve mechanic idiot

The community is pretty divided on the issue, some like the concept, hate the execution, others are okay with its existence and the rest want to throw Game Freak off a cliff. If you want to play on the sims without using the Megas enjoy playing with your flying lions and lava frogs.

>Digimon invented temporary transformations

On a related note, im probably going to order a 3ds next week, should I get x y or alpha/omega

Megas are fine when they're used on shitmons. Too bad that every fucking legendary or popularshit are getting them instead, like Lucario and both fucking Lati@s

>we want the yokai watch audience

Eeeeh, tough one. If you played the originals, go x and y honestly.

You can then hack your 3ds to either emulate emerald or get a romhack for ORAS afterwards, both of these options are much less casual than vanilla ORAS.

Kinda surprised, with the new reveals and all they haven't been posted yet.

>Used on shitmons

The shitmons should have them as evolutions, not as mega evos.

>Love some mega evos, especially for shitmons
>Can't use more than one because of gamefreak's retard balancing ideas

I don't get this pic. Do they just stall combat?

That is correct. Stall is currently the most popular metagame.

Why are they all bipedal and wearing fucking sandals?
Is that one on the top right literally a farting asshole mon?

Mega Latis are some lazy shit. They couldn't even make them different from one another, just make them into chunky purple shit and call it a day.

They just need to stop making megas to good pokemon to make their stats even higher. Just give shitmons stats that make them playable.

Yeah, I guess that actual evolutions > mega shit. But It's pretty unlikely that we'll be getting any of those anymore. I mean, just look at gen 5, fucking buffalo cow and fat luvdisc aren't fucking evolutions.

Why, does it even help them win?

Oh right, I forgot about those two pokemon. Could have been evolutions or side grades or something to Tauros or Luvdisc. No idea what goes on at that company with some of these ideas they implement.

Meth

Luvdisc and Alomomola are completely different kinds of fish.

Megas in general were a mistake. Sure I like a few, can't deny that, but overall the concept and idea of megas is shit and they should be deleted

So are Clamperl and Huntail. They could have just made luvdisc a pre-evo just to make the shit less forgettable.

Is there a website with all of these

Garchomp is fucking awesome.

The mega Latis make more sense in context, it's inferred their mega stone are a mutated soul dew of the other Lati@s.

Garchomp is fucking garbage.

You chip away at your opponents health effectively walling off or shutting down any hyper offensive pokemon the other team runs. They can't do shit, while you whittle their health down and get them put them on tilt.

But then no one would use them, as there are already stronger mega evolutions to use.

Not any more than any other tactic, but it sure makes a lot of people quit because it is annoying as fuck.

I used to keep my complete contempt for modern Pokemon designs to myself. Everybody seems to do a very poor job articulating exactly what their problems with the new designs are, and fanboys always fall back on the nostalgia-goggles excuse, so there's no real point in that discussion.

Then, a little less than a year ago, I introduced my gf to Pokemon FireRed on an emulator. As predicted, she fell in love with it. She didn't play games growing up, and had no familiarity with Pokemon, so it was all very new, but totally accessible for her. I have some good memories of playing it with her on our lazy Sundays. Fun times. Fast forward to about two months ago. We were sitting in the car at a drive-thru, and we start talking about pokemon again, and how I hated the new stuff and hadn't played any of the past several games. She's skeptical, so I decide to take my phone out and show her some. It just made her frustrated and sad. She said they looked like "bad bootleg Pokemon" and compared them to "a little kid's fan-fiction." That was probably the best description I've ever heard for how bad the new designs are. Then when we started moving again I had to spend ten minutes trying to convince her I wasn't lying about the keychain Pokemon. She looked like I'd just ruined her whole day.

Say what you want about Jynx, Voltorb, etc., but at least the weird ones were delightful exceptions, and not the rule.

>Say what you want about Jynx, Voltorb, etc., but at least the weird ones were delightful exceptions, and not the rule.

The same is true for modern Pokemon.

i just fucking hate the THICK LINES SOLID COLORS SIMPLE SHAPES shit

The only objective thing you can say about new versus old Pokémon is that the old ones look more realistic and based on real life animals.

Personally I always found those boring, so I have no issues with the new gens.

Coinpurse clam is great, would use if it were a Pokemon.

Because they're yokai

>best designed poke got the best designed mega

How does heracross stay so based after all these years?

I don't think there's anything objective to say about these kinds of designs. That being said, the original spirit of Pokemon was about going out into the world, exploring, experiencing nature, and having adventures. It was literally based on the experience of wandering in the woods and collecting bugs. The Yokai Watch designs above are perfectly fine for what they are (I guess) because they're supposed to be general monsters, not animals in the wild. The new Pokemon designs are bad because they're supposed to be animals in the wild, not general monsters.

Heracross was my fuckin' boy in Silver. Loved that classy motherfucker.

Say that to my face motherfucker and see what happens.

>The new Pokemon designs are bad because they're supposed to be animals in the wild, not general monsters.
They're not 'supposed' to be anything. As I said, the original Pokémon did go by this concept more, but it's obvious that many new Pokémon aren't trying to be realistic animals. That's not inherently bad, it's just a direction you don't agree with.

>In modern Pokemon, weird ones are delightful exceptions
Nigger, you're crazy. Almost single new Pokemon looks like an old one got genetically crossed with Mr. Mime.

thats ... thats fake, right?
wtf did they do to sharpedo :||||

It's an art direction that clashes with the themes of the game. Going out and catching a garbage bag Pokemon, or a keychain Pokemon, or an ice cream Pokemon (because yes, that's exactly what it is)- none of which look natural or inspired- is ridiculous. If they were going to do that, they should've rebooted the series and removed their now broken "Pokemon are our animal friends!" shtick. At least then it'd be something different, and everybody could just say it was a new thing that wasn't their cup of tea.

What about the ball Pokemon, the magnet Pokemon and the black woman Pokemon?

Where exactly do you see anybody talking about "animal friends"? Anywhere I see, they just use "friends". It's commonly brought up that Pokémon are intelligent. Gen 5 entirely was about the fact that they weren't to be treated as animals. Pokémon like Zoroark are intelligent enough to pretend to be humans. Gen 4 had history books that showed that Pokémon and humans used to marry. I don't know where you're seeing this theme that the designs supposedly clash with. It's just what you want Pokémon to be.

So you just showed some of the meme ones like Klefki and Vanilluxe instead of cool ones. Ok.

Modern pokemon embrace the modern anime stereotypes entirely.

bullshit, there's only 3 moe loli Pokémon and none from gen 6 or 7

>implying you're not just jealous because yokai has the better titty monsters

Sun and Moon have the highest ratio of ugly shit pokemon to good designs out of all gens so far

At least from the ones revealed yet

I barely like any at all

>bullshit

Take a look at every single pokemon introduced from this generation. For the most part they're clean, bold lined, moe-stereotyped creatures with simplistic shapes or abstract blob features used to replace realistic features of animals.
