No, the remakes are fsr superior mechanically and graphically. They have virtually made the originals obsolete as they have more features, better battle mechanics and balance, more moves for pokemin, updated graphics, higher sound quality, etc.
If you own HG/SS there is little reason to play G/S other than pure nostalgia and maybe an appreciation of the sprite work. Crystal is different thanks to story elements and some areas being changed, but I'd say HG/SS is still fsr superior.
