Can we all agree that at the moment this is the only choice if you want to play a decent mmorpg?
Can we all agree that at the moment this is the only choice if you want to play a decent mmorpg?
Sup Forums might shit all over it but its got a good amount of content and Sup Forums doesn't like games anyway
Also has the best OST in an MMORPG I have ever heard.
most fucking boring powerhouse mmo I've ever tried to play
Decent is a strong word.
It is definitely the least shit though.
>Decent MMORPG
>has no crafting
>has no casual endgame
>has no community
> i have 149/153 tt cards now
> i have all ochestrions songs
Why does it not stoooopppp, REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
i have 160 days played and there's nothing to do
ARR was decent but fuck me was HW a boring piece of shit.
Tbh Guild wars 2 is better.
To be fair you could play the game a really long time before it turns to shit. I'm only down on it because the last 3 patches have been a shitfest.
Which reminds is Palace of the Dead kill yet?
Posting GOAT track

Best song in the game
>he doesn't have this dance yet
4.0 fucking when
Give me fire V yoship you know you fucking want to
great fight too
Just give me SAM god damn it, also the next expac better not be fucking Ala mihgo shit, holy fuck no one cares about those literal niggers.
how does the ost compare to ffxi? this track is pretty nice, will check out the rest later when i start homework
was going to do it on two extra alts, but then i learned you needed to do nearly the entire zone's worth of quests. fuck that
FFXI has better atmospheric music, and nostalgia aside, San d'Oria's theme is pretty damn good.
FFXIV shines in music that is tailored to the encounter, as if its fighting for you, or against you
>has no casual endgame
Achievements, minigames with no rewards, player house and ERP are the casual endgame content.
I like it, but its getting very stale. The xpac needs to change shit up.
I'm over every single dungeon being a hallway that is trash -> boss -> trash -> boss -> trash -> boss. Change it up, make us split up, ride chocobos, do something else inside dungeons.
I'm over tomestone grind and lockout.
>I'm over every single dungeon being a hallway that is trash -> boss -> trash -> boss -> trash -> boss. Change it up, make us split up, ride chocobos, do something else inside dungeons.
>I'm over tomestone grind and lockout.
I don't see them doing anything different for 4.0. I really hope they do, otherwise i'm done with it for good.
loved windurst and rabao too for town themes. i'll check it out. i know it's a google search away, but is there a piano collection yet for xiv?
I'm working on it FUCK
Yes.
At least the quests are easy as fuck. Just takes I think like 3 weeks to get your rank high enough.
They did that originally with Castrum Meridianum but no one actually liked it
I still can't believe how fucking AWFUL Hunts are and how they are implemented. We have a hunting log for fucks sake and they don't use it.
The only problem with CM and the dungeon after it are the amount of cutscenes.
It's the WoW clone with the best presentation, that's all I can really say about it that isn't criticism.
>grind 2 dungeons per patch
>weekly raid
>content comes in 2 difficulties: ezmode for retards or requires 200 hours of attempts before you can start clearing it for minor upgrades in one slot
>all of the rest of the content is utterly shameless grindfests for cosmetics
>very few unique or interesting class mechanics
>occasionally there's a completely failed attempt to breathe fresh air into the game like the Diadem
I resubbed 2 days ago
No one actually liked it because it was a required storyline dungeon that had multiple cutscenes in the middle of it
That's not Runescape 07
Don't you need a crafter at level 50?
Too lazy for that shit. unless someone on Gilgamesh wants to sell me a levekit
What did you have in mind for hunts?
we have that in Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium. and what did you do the last time you ran it?
Probably the best soundtrack of anything ever made by now, due to the sheer amount of tracks that might have all been the best song in an average game.
Such a shame it will all be overlooked by history because MMO.
Yeah at least level 50. I'd do it but i'm unsubbed and on Tonberry.
There's also the fact that an entire expansion has like 2 melodies in all of its tracks
>Finally get my crafters and gatherers to 60
>"Oh boy, I can't wait to start crafting my own ge-"
>Scrips
>Folklore nodes
>Favours
>Aethersand
>Demimateria
I rode the magitek armor. What do you think?
>but you ran past trash mobs
and? One of my complaints was being bored of trash mobs.
I'm glad I have no idea what any of that is
leitmotif (when you have an overarching theme song in all of the tracks) works just fine. Dragonsong proved to be a versatile song, as did Answers
Scrips aren't so bad. But Folklore Nodes, Ephemeral Nodes, Favors, etc are fucking cancer.
>when the DF pops but you miss it because making a post on Sup Forums
A bunch of bullshit you have to deal with to do any high level stuff. Scrips are basically tomes for crafters and gatherers. Because as we know, everyone just LOVES capped currencies on weekly timers.
There's dozens of songs in the expansion that don't use either of the big two main themes. Don't be retarded.
Active System Sounds on "Play sounds when window is not acitve". And you will heard the typical pop sound.
scrips: tomes for crafters. you get them by making certain items with a collectable tag you can add by toggling an ability
folklore nodes: gathering nodes that require you to purchase a book to see them
favours: temporarily gives a chance for you to find a special node while gathering. the special node has items that you can trade for rare crafting materials
aethersand: a material that is valuable to garbage, depending on what type. tacked on as a requirement to most high level crafts. you get it from desynthing special material you can harvest from timed nodes that only appear during certain weather conditions
demimateria: desynthesis' bread and butter. sometimes instead of one of the materials used to make an item, you get a demimateria. value varies
>2016
>he doesn't have dual monitors
nothing like shitposting inbetween pulls famalam
Toss in crafting gear and level 50 cross-class crafting skills. The whole system is cancer
Only pve-wsie, pvp in this game is redundant.
>not shitposting during pulls

SHIT
I remember when the PHASES OF THE MOON were important
>it's a "both dps are sub 1k dps" episode
>featuring "full time healer, no dps!"
>Having any time to rest in between pulls
You better not have been the tank.
That's exactly why fishing can go fuck itself. Weather, time of day, sometimes both, and mooching is all annoying as shit.
I once got a bard in sephex who was doing less dps than both tanks
its not nearly as bad as FFXI. you can get a weather forecast 2 days into the in game future at certain npcs, and its usually pretty good about having the appropriate weather up.
its not something you camp, something you plan ahead for. my static called activity to a halt the other day so 5 of them could go hit up furymint
Depends on what a person looks for in an MMO.
It's still pretty meh from what I expected and didn't see worth it to keep a sub, though I like the Soundtrack which is pretty amazing.
I did this while leveling SCH
Just set myself to follow the tank and let the fairy do all the work.
I didn't even get kicked kek.
>Scrips
Instead of just being able to buy or craft your crafting/gathering gear directly, you have to buy it with Rowena Funbucks which you earn by submitting a megaton of shit items that you have to gather or craft yourself.
>Folklore
Before you can gather endgame materials, you first have to spend about 30-ish hours grinding the previously mentioned scrips so you can buy books that actually let you see the nodes
>Favours
Spend more scrips for a 5-minute buff that gives you a CHANCE of finding special hidden nodes with items that can be exchanged for more mandatory endgame crafting materials
>Aethersand
Spend all your GP at timed nodes so you can break apart the materials you get for a small chance at more crap you need for crafting endgame shit
>Demimateria
Break apart crafted items and loot drops for a chance at rare items you also need for endgame gear. To do this though you need to spend a shitload of money leveling the skill that lets you do it, and it's different for each crafter class.
They probably clicked the boss and AFK'd.
BRD and MCH are kind of notorious for that nowadays.
Ephemeral nodes aren't based on weather. They're time-based just like unspoiled nodes, and at any time of day there's always at least 1 mining and 1 botany ephemeral node up. It just means you're forced to move around a lot.
The biggest bullshit is that to actually get decent aethersand you are basically relying on 30% chance procs from Impulsive Appraisal, otherwise you can't get the purity high enough due to durr perception caps.
This seems to be the biggest thing I keep hearing about FFXIV. Time Gated armor and weapons are cancer. They finally got rid of that shit in XI (with exception of Ergon Weapons, 8 months my ass) and is mostly what's keeping me from trying out XIV.
Time gates exist to prevent poopsockers from blowing through the content in a day and then quitting because there's nothing to do. It's either time gates, or just make the grinds so ridiculously long that it takes even the poopsockers months (making it basically impossible for everyone else).
>Finally got rid of it in XI
wat...finally?
How active is XI still?
It's the only fucking MMORPG worth playing right now.
if you're a raider, you're mostly past the gates. some items need currency in order to upgrade, but you can get a pretty gnarly set of gear from it without needing to wait weeks.
if you want raid level gear without raiding, thats when the gates hit. 450 lore tomes a week, need 1000 for a weapon, 1 midan gear a week (need 7) to get a weapon. yes you need both. minmaxing your shit will require a decent amount of Gil investment too with materia
what this creates is a casual base thats not terribly underperforming, at least in theory, to the raiders, but the raiders are still a head above them.
but truth be told, everyone knows the true endgame is FFXIV is looking cool, cute or sexy
why is main scenario dungeon still broken
why cant i watch cutscenes
why are players not forced to wait until im finished watching cutscenes ala the ring that locks you in at the start of every dungeon
why is elezen (male) the best race
>more ability bloat =/= more depth
tanking classes literally have multiple abilities that do the exact same thing eg. 20% damage reduce and 30% damage reduce it's fucking stupid
Looks gay
>Moogles
Gas them now
Raid drops are time gated though.
Cat and Lizard players need to be put into quarantine camps or shipped off to Balmung.
Fucking shitters.
p.s. hail Maelstrom
>a pretty gnarly set of gear
Are there "builds" in this game? One of my favorite parts about XI is creating different builds for different actions depending on what you're doing.
ha ha
But its so mind-numbly boring.
>2 minute long quests
>100% drop rates
>NOTHING takes more than a fifth of your health away
>you can reach any location/quest site in seconds
>collect 2, kill 3
>the level dungeons are all hallways you just pull and clear, zero challange
I quit after I failed one of those "fate" quests by accident. I was drunk, on the phone, and trying to get my cat off my desk so I accidentally let a bomb explode on my face.
I repeated the event and everything seemed to die almost twice as fast. As if they fucking lower the difficulty, which is none-existant, after you fucking fail once? Is this a joke?
anyone who's ever raided in any game knows that you only get X amount of loot a week. if you don't need it, cest la vie. as for the tokens, just suck off RNGesus
20% and 30% is a big deal. Tanks have to mitigate damage received and also dish out tons of damage to beat dps checks.
does it end up being another anti-social solo experience at max level?
Unsubbed and waiting to see next year if 4.0 does anything different. Final Fantasy fan service can only keep me interested for so long but as of right now Heavensward was overhyped and ended up being the same song and dance as ARR.
Yoshida doesn't know what to do with the game anymore. His moment of fame was over as soon as 3.1 ended up being a flop. Game's going to be dead anyway once of all the WoWfugees fuck off to Legion.
nope. you pick a class, that class is good at exactly 1 thing. your typical raider can optimally perform at least 1 tank/heal role, and 1 dps role of caster and melee
Maelstrom sucks dick. Merlwyb created half her problems with her shitty policies.
Flames master race. We are the Bulls that cuck you.
I really loved my 4 months on it, but no friends, no house and no content other than raids that I will never join made me drop it.
I would resub for more story and sidequests if I discovered a way to not spend 80% of my time looking at my skill bars in dungeons. I tried to use a controller but that shit isn't intuitive at all, and Macro codes are too simple to create a proper "combo" hotkey (like "press hotkey to use [skill] and change the skill on that hotkey to [skill 2], then [skill 3] and back to [skill 1]", there is a code for it but it is too simple and limited, and latency will fuck you up harder than trying to use ninjitsu with +100 ping).
no it's a shitty gear treadmill like wow before it
nigger yoshi stopped caring once he got his promotion.
Legion is going to flop and the WoWrefugees are going to flock back once 4.0 gets announced that its going to change the game more than A Realm Reborn did.
>Flames master race
>The Flames repeatedly betray you in the main quest
>There are shitters that have never experienced Coil in its prime
What a pity.
How hard is Paladin to play? I have next to no MMO experience. Thinking of playing again
>mfw dynamic ost during raids

there were only 3 good fights in the whole thing. it's no work of art.
I played ffxiv from 1.0 to 3.1. It's terrible. The game was beginning to get good around 1.23, but then ARR came around and that was all neat and cool for a while. But after two years of about 5 hours of new content every three months it really grew old. Heavensward was a terrible expansion that had about the same amount of content as one year of content updates should've had.
>4.0 gets announced that its going to change the game more than A Realm Reborn did.
Yeah I dunno about that. I'm hopeful but I wouldn't put it past them to just do the exact same thing they did with HW.
Except you actually had to be good to clear Coil
Alexander is a joke in comparison
Limsa is held together only by the Admiral's reputation, which is rapidly losing its gumption. She's gonna need to start keelhauling people or she's gonna lose it.
Ul'dah is corrupt to the core. 'For coin and country.' its even in the damn slogan
Gridania is nice, but then you realize that its leaders are at the mercy of unknowable, moody and frightfully powerful Elemental spirits. its also a backwater
when can i fight for Ishgard?
