Why not get a 4K HDTV with 4:4:4 chroma and 60Hz and use such a thing as a monitor? As long as the input lag is under 10ms, the TV will work fine.

144hz Free/Gsync

I'll be looking into a display for my new apt. in the fall, one that will be used for both a computer and a console. If I'm going to be switching back and forth a lot, will a small TV be the better option, or will monitor still be king?

What res?

Most newer 4K TVs have really low input lag and most sets now supports 120hz native thanks to new HDMI 2.0 standerts.

l think is time to let go the small screens.

I use an HDTV, but I prefer a monitor when I'm working on something.

Consider spec and review websites such as rtings when purchasing a TV.

DO NOT GO BLINDLY INTO A BEST BUY AND PURCHASE A TV AT RANDOM. A lot of those "quality" Samsung sets are shite, for example, and a lot of them have input lag and/or bad clouding/colours.

Here's an example

today l connect the pc to my tv 50 and I started to play dragon age inquisition and is really great how amazing the game looks in the big screen

then when I returned to monitor everything looked small and compact, some games are made to be played on large screens

Sitting cross legged on my shiki mat with a mouse and keyboard and a 42 inch TV. Has been super comfy for games with controller support.

Both.

I recently stayed at the house of a friend who had bought one of those TVs OLED and was really impressed how Dark Souls 3 looked at on that TV.

when I go home I almost cried when i see my little LCD monitor and lost all desire to play

Monitors are for fags.

give the big picture.

>for fags
Why aren't you using a monitor large enough to serve as a tv then? You should use a display that can do both.

The absolute minimum acceptable size is one of those 2560x1440 30" displays. Anyone not using something like that is not even worth our time.

VIEWING

DISTANCE

1440p to 4k 30" should be 2-3ft
50" can be a bit further back, no more than 6ft though.

can you force 16:10 with letterboxes on a 16:9 display using Intel HD graphics?

Yes, just use a custom resolution.

this, i use a 50" tv as a monitor and i sit pretty close, the 4k resolution looks great and games are just stunning.

Custom resolution, but there's word of warning on that if you use intel's utility.

Just recently got this for my consoles. Looks so much more crisper than my HDTV that is only a little bit bigger.

TV for casual console gaming, monitor for PC competitive gaming. Simple. I enjoy playing Mario Party/CoD on my 44" curved TV, but much prefer a smaller montior for try harding CSGO/MOBA shit. TV overall if you can't get both though, purely because they're usually cheaper for a better spec and most modern TVs have low input delay anyway.

As a TV PC/Console fag, I am significantly worse at RTS and shooters than when I'm at a desk with a monitor.

Neither, CRTS FOR LIFE!

>tfw can't afford fancy monitors because poor
>suddenly: see refinance deal, can buy a 4k 35" monitor, not terrible just means cheaper food for a few years

Who jelly as fuck?

It all depends on what you're trying to do, if you're going for very precise gameplay on a relatively medium setup monitor is your go to if you are a casual gamer who just loves that big 1080p tv despite slower refresh rates then tv is the better option

Nice. I'm a TV for competitive console gaming and a laptop for casual pc gaming kinda guy

If it's gonna take you a few years to pay off, make sure it has decent HDR support.

What ever floats your boat. There's no real clear answer, most people simply have a preference.
Same problem, same with FPS, I just couldn't do well on a TV.

crt monitor or crt television?

Is it cheaper to get I monitor to use as a TV if you sit close to it all the time (desk's length)? I need something to game on that's not 14".

Because that's several thousand dollars.

Television

l do all my gaming in a plasma TV.

CRT like response time + deeb black its just the best combo.

My 720 Panasonic is already outdated. Some games don't have trouble fitting on the screen so it cuts off edges. I'd definitely like to get one of those lagless monitors with built in speakers

Have you ever tried wireless mouse and kb plus an HDTV?

My fucking god the cursor had a full second of delay.

TVs are just not suitable for gaming kys fucking faggots.

> Silly peasants
Bow before true master race monitor + projector combo setup. Monitor is on an arm and swivels on to the couch.

> full second
You're doing it wrong faggot

What game is that.

one horizontal monitor at 144hz 4k
one vertical 1080 at 60hz
and maybe one massive tv for actual tv
