i like the nsmb series

Miyamoto said that the NX Mario would "be something different"
Can't wait to see NSMB: Whatever Gimmick NX have Edition

It's okay. I'm not a fan of their "levels designed around the power-up" shit. I'd rather have it be like the old Mario's where you were rewarded for keeping your power up

NSMB U or Wii is unironically the best 2d Mario

People only hate it because it's too mainstream for them

The consoles NSMB games are pretty good and I'm okay with them basically being the entry level dev team with the talented guys graduating to other things while the "core" Mario games still manage to be these big, unexpected, different yet distinctly Mario adventures.

It'd be nice if they broke out of the plastic look though. I love the almost sprite-ish look of the M&L games, I wish they had an artstyle like that.

They developers confirmed that they want to move beyond that

>I love the almost sprite-ish look of the M&L games
user, they ARE sprites.

...

I liked galaxy 1 more than 2
Honestly, i didn't enjoy 2.
Also 3D Land is very bad

NSMB2 is legitimately an awful game.
3D Land is all right. Basically a bite sized version of 3D World. Pretty much what you'd expect.

I didn't mind NSMB2, but I guess it's because I got it for free from Club Nintendo. It is definitely the weakest title in the series though.

nsmb2 is ok.

yup the series is pretty good

I personally put the original NSMB as the second best in the New series. Beating bosses with the mini mushroom to access alternate worlds was neat and the battle mode kicked the shit out of the stupid coin battle they replaced it with in the sequels

Seems like 3d Land is just a split on preference. I wonder why that is, difficulty?

I liked it a lot, but I thought it was too easy for most of the game.

What's bad about NSMB2?

Is NSMB2 still worth getting? Or should I get the first one for Wii? The only NSMB game I've played is the 1st on DS.

Wii

Even with gimmicks it's better. It's Fun with friends too

It doesn't do anything new. The only thing it does is give a literal coat of paint to already existing Mario power ups and make some enemies shit coins

...

Its easy and you have to beat it like 3 times to get 100 (mario route, luigi route, gold flag at the end)
Getting star coins are more of a chore rather than challenging.
Getting good times is fun, or a no-leaf run is also challenging at some point, but overall, isnt really what i would call a good game.
It got all the things people criticize about the new series.

it depends, it isn't as bad as people say.

I agree with this.

Also the music is absolute garbage.

DS got some good tunes
youtu.be/MrAa-_SlRCY

get U

That Castle Theme is always gonna be great to me.

>Its easy and you have to beat it like 3 times to get 100
Just two times.
One with mario and luigi. You can get gold flag on either of runs.

Also 3D Land has better final boss which is much more prolonged platforming challenge very much in a style of SMB1 Bowsers rather just scaling the cramped side of a building in 3D World.

I still think this is the best track in the series

but it can be better.

No shame in that I like to reheat my food too. Saves money.

Already stated that the next Mario game would be different.
Are you upset that SMB2 (JP) reused assets as well?

the fortune street version is great
youtu.be/i7OiALdc1fY

if you know that you need every gold flag at first

>hating on based SMB2 USA

Don't talk to me or my wife's son ever again

So if I liked 3D World it's reasonable to assume I'd like 3D Land?

probably. Does a stripped down version of 3DW sound ok to you? If so, you'll probably like 3DL

Lost Levels is kinda shit though

Yeah it sounds alright. Would also give me an excuse to pick up my 3DS again.

Lost Levels is a fully realized SMB for people who learned the engine. It's maybe the hardest Mario game ever, and it's special in that way.
I don't see what's wrong with that.

We don't know if he's talking about the 3d or 2d mario games.

>Are you upset that SMB2 (JP) reused assets as well?
Not upset, the image just comes off that way since I didn't make it, I just think it has a lot of valid points. Also it's less about reusing assets to me & more like it didn't add anything well New to the series. NSMB.U was a better sequel than NSMB.2 since at least it had the Baby Yoshis, SMW-esque world & the Challenges. NSMB.2 only had what that image said (Gotta say Boohemoth is dope though). But hey, I'm sick of the Mario series in general just using the same fucking world themes for most games.

I didn't know Fortune Street had a version of that song, it sounds super great there.

Only issue I have with Lost Levels is the fucking pipe that takes you back some worlds, seems like a load of bullshit you either do that or kill yourself.

It's one of the cruelest traps in video games, but maybe it could actually be used since you have to complete Worlds 1-8 to access 9, and if you warped to get there it could take you back.
