Because even a braindead chimpanzee could figure that out.

BOY GEE WHIZ I WONDER WHAT I AM TO DO
It insults your intelligence and honestly it would have been better if they just had you find a normal key or some such.

Obligatory

Thank you user

artificial difficulty

its impossible without cheating

because muh deep Bioshock philosophy lore

It's on par with super mario bros. in design. You guys know how you love it since some recent memer told you it taught you how to play it? That's what this game did too. It gave you the tools to figure out things you'll need to do later.

really makes you think...

It's an incredibly simple puzzle but it also sets you up to expect more puzzle solving which you don't really do. There probably were some more but fuck if I remember them.

Wait a minute

>It gave you the tools to figure out things you'll need to do later.
Wait a minute

BBBBBB

Am I the only one who thought ringing the bell in a certain order making the thing activate was pretty cool? Never imagined it was suppose to be difficult. I was just mirin the technology.

The game was shit since the begining

It's not even that it's bad, but critics proped it up as the second coming of christ.

It's pretty mediocre and fails in almost every aspect.

>Sup Forums keeps proving how retarded it is
It wasn't a puzzle, you fucking mongoloids, it was just a bell lock that your client gave you the password for, it was a narrative thing, not a fucking puzzle.

Next you'll be saying wounded knee was a skyrim joke and NOT A REFERENCE TO THE WOUNDED KNEE MASSACRE THAT THE GAME LATER CONTINUES TO TALK ABOUT.

Keep being tards for the sake of your hate circle jerk.

What technology? You mean the arbitrary locking device placed there so you can feel like you're doing a puzzle?

The ringing order must have some sort of significance right? Like the scrolls represent the dead sea scrolls or something etc etc. Does anyone have a summary of it?

>thinks neo-Sup Forums is smart enough to notice the scroll, key and sword symbolism through the game

>The ringing order must have some sort of significance right?

It's a number, the prevailing theory is that you are Booker number 122.

Who even writes like that?
You'd write "ring the scroll once, keyblade twice, rapier twice"

Because people thought it was some kind of puzzle when it's there just to show you the card which later connects to the ones you get to control Songbird and to show you that you knew the code because of alternate universe sheanigans

>pressing buttons in a certain order to open a door
>being impressed by this

> There probably were some more but fuck if I remember them.

Later on there is one puzzle where you need a 4-digit number like the ones in the original. The number is somewhere in the (small) room with you and after finding it Booker just puts the number in without any user input.

>Why is this bad?

It's not, it's a case of people missing the forest for the trees.

It's fine when System Shock 1 and 2 do it

Before I ever played the game, I had always assumed this was some mid-game "puzzle" or something and that's why everyone was so assblasted, But this is literally the first thing you do besides walk forward.

its a pointless easy puzzle that anyone can figure out in a game thats all about shooting things

A few years ago many people who got triggered by Infinite for some reason, I think they just got mad about it getting so much praise.

Picking on that "puzzle" was an easy way to mock it.

What is different between BSI and System shock is that there is only 1 "puzzle" in BSI.
While SS1&2 have a slew of different puzzles of different levels of difficulty through out the games.

>in a game thats all about shooting things

If it's just a shooter then why you need puzzles anyway?

thats exactly my point

...

thoughts?

What other game does this then huh??

>shitposters don't realize it wasn't supposed to be a puzzle for the player to figure out

you can write off anyone triggered by this image as a moron

...

>but none of the choices mattered, so that means the game is shit

so it's got some good imagery, your point?

Infinite should have been it's own IP, back when it was first announced that was the rumor. The game is more inspired more by Halo than by System Shock.

Infinite can't work as a solo IP, it specifically subverts the earlier two Bioshocks

dried shroomxdusty hammer

Explain the meaning of those symbols.

i never saw it as a puzzle or anything, just a narrative sequence to show the little ritual of exclusivity someone has to do to get to columbia

we have a winner

every time

Haven't played SS1 yet but it looks really complicated.

I don't get why people always bring up how simple Bioshock Infintie's "puzzles" were when neither of the other two Bioshocks are defined by puzzles either

But it adds nothing to the narative

Shock 2 barely has any puzzles except the missile room in the rickenbacker

Shut up, it's cool and deep.

Literally any game with an elevator.

I've said it before and I'll say it again

What made System Shock 1 difficult to navigate was not the mazy level design but the fact back then there was so little in the way of different textures or other unique assets that you couldn't simply use landmarks to navigate

Whereas with System Shock 2 and Bioshock I instantly know where I am thanks to things like XERXES so I can easily tell this is the main area of the Ops deck

the sword represents a willingness to defend yourself through any means necessary
the scroll represents knowledge
the key has always been there, you just couldn't see it

Wrong.

Compare it with the original mural and it might be more obvious.

>meme buzzword used by reviewers makes it necessary to be in one series

Y-you realize a meme buzzword used by pseudo-intellectual "art game" critics isn't much justification?

Those are sum dank memes bro, good job.

Learn grammar and English before you start making arguments on an English forum.

Or is English a buzzword too?

Wait, did they seriously get rid of this mural ingame?

A mural that was SUPPOSED to be offensive? Because it was offensive? Jesus fucking christ...

No they didn't get rid of it. Isn't it in the crow cult building?

>Isn't it in the crow cult building?

It is but that's a fairly dark location so a lot of people miss it. They also miss the fact that the mural was changed slightly.

I think the scroll represents the constitution, with the bell scroll bell being rang twice a symbol of how racist gun owners' love of the second amendment are a threat to society, and the key to solving gun violence is to ban guns and replace them with nippon katanas.

I'd say it's offensive. That doesn't mean they should half ass the racism in-gam because that deflates the clear message
RACISM IS BAD DO U GET IT

"Subvert" in game criticism is almost exclusively used as a stand in for "does something I like."

Therefore, yes it's a buzzword. Or does San Andreas subvert niggers really hard?

>with the bell scroll bell being rang twice a symbol of how racist gun owners' love of the second amendment are a threat to society

That's so dumb it makes perfect sense.

I've never played this shit, but every time I see that image I get a lil bit of anxiety

>niggers

Is "waters down" a meme word?

wait a minute that meme

Why
(You)

BAZINGA BA BA BA BA

Wish I knew

If you use it as a stand in for "does something I do not like."

>linking anyone to Sup Forums for using a naughty word

...

You're right to feel anxiety.

It's supposed to be a puzzle.

This is how stupid game designers think you are.

Is there actually anything wrong with racism?

>It's supposed to be a puzzle.

No it's not, only someone extremely thick would think that.

I would expect nothing less from Ken "Christianity turns you evil!" Levine.

>MOMMY HE SAID NIGGER

>MOM

>MOM HELP

>HE SAID

>BUT MOM

>MOM IT HURTS

>MOM POL IS HURTING MY DEEPLY HELD BELIEFS

>NO I DONT KNOW IF HES ACTUALY FROM POL BUT HE SAID NIGGER

>MOM!

>Mom can I have my chicken tendies now?

Grow the fuck up, nigger.

Then what was it? Because I see no other reason for it to exist.

If you in any way imply it's subtle imagery I'm gonna laugh at you.

It depends on if you value the feelings of other people.

Zero Time Dilemma is full of "puzzles" like this, where you "solve" the puzzle by finding the answer written on a note.

It's an elevator.

Thank you, I spent hundreds of hours thinking about it. It might also have something to do with quantum mechanics, how there's a universe where you never rang the bell, and a universe where you did, so you have to ring the first bell only once to make sure both cumstock and brooker exist in the same universe, since there was a universe where he did not ring it, and then both ring the rest twice to make sure that only the closest parallel brooker and cumstock from alternate universes are in the same universe.
Once you ring them in that order at a fast rate for twelve hours(the amount of time it takes to solve the puzzle), your qpu becomes completely aligned with comstock's universe.

What if I actually meant it for infinite. Like weapon limit, boring vigors, useless Disney princess companion, lack of enemy variety, and retarded story.
