The Great Debate

Which is the better game?
Super Metroid, or Castlevania: Symphony of The Night?

Super Metroid quite clearly.

SotN is a good game but it is much more grindy than Super Metroid and that detracts from my enjoyment quite significantly. Plus Super Metroid has a much better atmosphere, art style, and soundtrack imo.

Bloodborne

I've played and beaten SM multiple times and love it to death, even considering it one of my favorite games of all time but I can't get into SotN for shit.

I started a file, got a little bit into it but couldn't really do it. I really didn't like the level design, both aesthetically and design-wise. I also really didn't like the RPG elements either, which made it more grindy.

Maybe I should give it another go?

I've been playing a lot of Super Metroid after playing a lot of Symphony and yeah... it's definitely Super Metroid.

Symphony's still good, though.

So that's why I can't discuss Bloodborne on Sup Forums.
Fucking hell.

Is it really far to compare the two? I feel that the addition of RPG elements makes it just divergent enough to be an apples/oranges situation

That said, since I'm partial to RPG elements in my games, I'm going with Castlevania

Super Metroid

grindy? i played sotn a ton of times and i never had to grind. elaborate.

This isn't a debate, it's Super Metroid.

Please. But if you aren't having a good time, just forget it man, there are other games.

Super Metroid is a better game in a design/game mechanics sense which is especially remarkable since they did it an entire generation before SOTN.

That being said I enjoy Playing both games at a 10/10 level but I enjoy Castlevania just a bit more and I like it's aesthetic qualities more.

It's sad that we wont get another serious entry out of either series ever again.

sauce me senpai

You cant discuss it because it is kill user

cool scifi alien space girl or gay Dracula crap?

the answer is pretty obvious

Well when you put it like that user, I think you make a pretty good case for why you're a fgt

It's a scene from Sly 4.

We are in a Metroid/Castlevania thread, the only series that are more dead are Onimusha.

>the only series that are more dead are Onimusha
HELLO THERE!

Reminder that Metroid isn't dead until we know for sure that we're never getting another 2D or 3D game in the series, ever.

If we don't get a proper game after Fed Force it's officially dead, even if it keep getting bad games. Paper Mario has been dead for ages.

I agree with that.

Super Metroid is my favorite. Imo the greatest game of all time in regards to gameplay design, and integrating the other elements of a game (sound design, graphics and art, etc) into making something whole greater than its individual parts.

SotN is just the second best. But it's so good that even as a SM fanboy, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell a SotN fan to his face that his game is worse.

tldr both are 10/10

Super Metroid, though both are amazing games

SM but both are the best Metroidvanias on there respective platforms.
