It's really sad that Gamefreak makes Pokemon. Imagine if a talented dev team got ahold of this franchise. We would probably have open world console games instead of freemium apps.

I have a friend who works at Niantic. Apparently, whenever they proposed adding any depth to the game, the Pokemon Company shot them down because they WANTED this game to be accessible to literally anyone. They wanted your 90 year old grandma with dementia to be able to pick up and play this game. Disbelieve me if you want, but it's not like I'm saying anything outrageous. I'm disappointed too, but the game is making them a ton of money so clearly their plan worked.
Maybe they were afraid that if they made GO too good, it would kill the main franchise on their handhelds.

Pokemon Go was always meant to be a easy way to get people to just walk around. This is like when they added the Pokewalker to HG/SS. Pokemon has always been about getting people outside and socialize. And Go is the ultimate version of that. Yeah it doesn't really have the Pokemon gameplay but to Gamefreak Go was never really meant to be a real Pokemon game. Just a app to get people walking.

The "gameplay" consists of going out and exploring the real world. Pokemon GO simply rewards that behavior just enough for your typical couch-bound normie to move his pudgy ass a few hundred meters more per day.
Had Niantic forced a battle system, this product would not have seen nearly the amount of market saturation it has, because most normies don't like RPGs of that sort.
If they ever do implement a pokemon battle system, it will either be:
a) incredibly simplified
or
b) 100% voluntary and having zero impact upon core mechanics such as gym ownership
Pokemon GO is a mobile app for normies to enjoy. The core audience is not hardcore pokemon fans who want to battle.
You will never have the full pokemon experience integrated with AR like this, in this particular product.
A full fledged battle system leaves room for gameplay to spiral out of control and quickly turn into competetive bullshit, encouraging the use of select Pokemon, introducing shit like IV/EVs, and would overall make the game less approachable to a casual player which is obviously the intended audience.

The amount of unbalance and Bugs is troubling. Ive got nexus 5 and battery drain is ridiculous, ive got about 1 hour of play from the full charged battery. It eats my battery even while it charges. Its madness since my phone take 3h to get charged to full. Gps is lousy and all over the place. I want to like this mobile game but its hard at this stage.

I don't think so, its going to take awhile before they put out gen 2 Pokemon. The battle system is limited, has no direct battles vs other players, has no trading.
In a month I don't think people will be excited for another X or another Y, but they can't force out another 100 because of the way they designed evolution. Would take so much longer than it already does when you can't find the same one over and over.

Honestly, the way these games work, 10 percent of the players are probably going to be their major profit group, with about another 20 percent occasionally buying items here and there, and the rest never doing so. but they still need a way to keep those players playing. Hence why the game is built so you don't have to spend money unless you have no time to socialize or are just starting.

Actually with how popular Pokemon Go is, Microsoft would be extremely tempted to buy Nintendo or at least the Pokemon franchise from Nintendo.
The biggest reason Microsoft bought Minecraft was only how large the playerbase was and now Pokemon Go is on its way to surpass Minecraft.
If Pokemon Go maintains its success, Microsoft has a high chance of buying Pokemon or Nintendo.
Not only that but Pokemon Go is one way for Microsoft to save their phone line or hype up the Surface Phone that is rumored to be capable of x64 with the help of a customized Intel chip.
The reason Microsoft can't confidently announce Surface Phone yet is because Intel keeps acting wishy washy on the smartphone market.
They want to join in the market but then say they don't want to at the same time.
If Microsoft does buy Pokemon or Pokemon Go, this provides enough leverage and reasoning for Intel to become serious with providing chips for smartphones, and now Microsoft can make a phone perfect for playing Pokemon games or other Nintendo IPs.
And with a Surface Phone capable of x64, it will actually be a mobile phone capable of playing proper video games because ARM and Qualcomm Chips are not good enough.
I know it might sound crazy over Microsoft buying Nintendo or Pokemon but you have to realize for the last 3 years, Silicon Valley has been buying much more retarded shit than Pokemon.
