>PS1 visuals and attack animations
Those are PS2 caliber
you're both retarded, that's PS3 tier garbage
>only graphics matter
>fun doesn't matter
PEE PEE POO POO NEO Sup Forums - STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME
Why does this game run so bad despite being visually unimpressive.
Can no one into optimization these days?
holy fuck, you actually got the rhyme wrong
Theres nothing wrong with ps1 tier graphics you underage faggot
Prove me wrong
Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
It is clearly PS4 tier shit.
Guess what?
It's a PC game
I'll take it
When game is about combat, and combat is jerky and not fun? Game is shit then.
And I like the art style.
>muh safe space waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
back to /r9k/ you frogfucker
>hating on ps1 era polygons
fuck off
Who cares about the graphics? When you read roguelike and soulslike, you know it's going to be unoriginal garbage undeserving of a single sale.
>muh graphix
Dumbass
That is purely ps5 tier trash
>PS3
didn't know they had a tier
Actually, that is exactly the issue with indy devs.
Many devs go for simplicity and low detail designs simply because they cannot make the games run well on machines, while having an exceptional level of visual fidelity.
Indie devs on particular are full of "idea guys" and artists, with very little in real education in computer programming/debugging. The result is that they want to make games, but have no technical knowledge on how to make it run well.
Thus, they turn to engines like UE3, Unity, and other multi-platform dev environments to make a game, while needing very little real programming knowledge to do so.
PS1 had textures you fuck.
You're the one treating fun and graphics as exclusive concepts.
>Many devs go for simplicity and low detail designs simply because they cannot make the games run well on machines, while having an exceptional level of visual fidelity.
you are a fucking retard
No, but i prefer fun over graphics. If i enjoy the game i don't care if it looks like ass. Sure, it's enjoyable if it's nice to look at. But why should i play a boring game that looks nice? Wouldn't it make more sense to watch a movie instead, or read a book? Gameplay over story over graphics.
blog.codinghorror.com
Just buy a faster computer.
This approach was even more common in the past.
go watch a movie if you want nice visuals
games are for the gameplay
It was more common in the past I think because developers were eager to try and do cool new stuff that wasn't possible on older hardware, which isn't something that happens anymore now outside of graphics really.
Now it seems to happen due to poor optimization almost exclusively.
Wow dumbass u only just now caught onto this. I knew indies were a scam when they were first introduced. Blew my mind seeing u idiots pay for hipster shit god u ppl piss me off
>just buy a faster computer
Yeah, just do that. Simple.
(not talking about games alone here)
Na this approach was more common in the past because of how the CPU market/moore's law worked. Look at how fast(relative speaking) people went from Mhz to Ghz. Optimizing was a time waste.
Come on, this was the approach for even decades. It kinda stopped when people realized that there was a limit to possible clockspeeds.
And even today some games work better on high single or duo core with high clockspeed than a quad.
Iam not saying that this is good, but given the time it was good. Nowadays I would assume people lack the know how or the time/money.
>Iam not saying that this is good, but given the time it was good.
Eh I meant
>given the time it was understandable.
If there was no fantastic visuals (or sounds or music or whatever) to telegraph your wielding of the games mechanics, you wouldn't give a shit about the game. That is, unless you're one of those people who plugs thousands of hours into TF2 or DOTA or CS.
All of this stupid bullshit of "fun vs graphics" stems from the fact that some, if not a lot of people, are flat out insensitive to the visuals of games, so the way they mentally break-down games ends up unconciously reflecting that.
Aren't games a weave of graphics and "gameplay" that exist pretty much as a bunch of transforming sensory forms you interact with? You can mentally divide the two of course, it's easy to translate a game's appearance into a bunch of rules, but to mentally divide "fun" and "graphics" is basically tastelessness incarnate. Even the most mechanically demanding games reward you with the most artistic visuals the developer can muster.
Kiddie pool level of depth in terms of gameplay, items and mechanics.
The game has nothing to offer.
The only way you can die is if you run straight into rooms like a retard.
Enemies actually spawn behind you.
ONE BOSS
30 dollars, for that price i can buy the real thing
>it's like Dark Souls
>roguelite
how isn't this a big redflag?
B-but it's low-poly! It's a good artstyle!!
I got it free on PS PLUS
>caring about graphics
how does it feel to be a high schooler
Lol
I like chibi low poly looking shit, but only if it's being played on a 3DS or something.
troll harder autist
>really excited for this game for like a year
>It ends up being shit
>tfw I fell for the indie game meme
Just wait for this
Except for the PS2 level lighting effects, those are PS1 level graphics.
Unity
I remember when developer of this shit showed up in one of the threads after someone called him out on shilling it
Fuck off, Necropolis looks like trash
ps2 had textures and lighting
right, the animation is a big reason for that
When no game exists with good animations and it's stylized your complains don't matter
Not really surprising.
I loved reading the Shadowrun games, but Harebrained is really not the studio I'd go to for polished action gameplay and optimised performance.
Working gameplay and mechanics >>> Extreme graphical quality
>if you play these successful games you're bad
>gameplay is not important, I need more lens flare and bloom
You sound like a dumb nigger staring at the sun
what is this
>Working gameplay and mechanics
which this game doesn't have you pathetic retard also it looks like shit you worthless autistic troll
I just arrived on this thread you goddamn dingus.
It's obviously held back by consoles!
He's right though. Why don't you think so?
>visuals are the only thing that affect frame rate
jesus christ fucking murder me already, you people are ignorant as heck
looks interesting
Can't wait to move my character around that movie and get immersed in the world with that great art style and visuals m8
The randomness of this game doesn't do it any favors. The game has thrown 4 swamp areas at me back-to-back. I don't know if I'm unlucky or if the game just has this little variety.
Like, I ended up in some cool canyon area with crumbling cliffsides and bonewheel-esque enemies trying to knock me down, but it lasted for all of like 2 minutes before going back to a fucking swamp.
>paying 30 dollars for those PS1 visuals and attack animations
Underaged detected
Games back then were actually more a less that much cheaper then games now. The n64 games cost a lot though. I think $80 or more depending on the game.
The spell didn't work
Its Poo Poo Pee Pee, not Pee Pee Poo Poo
I bought this and played it. Shit's so bland it hurts. So glad I could refund it.
Alright, enlighten the dumb masses about what makes this HIGHLY INTENSIVE game so intensive
The procedurally generated areas are a dumb idea in this game because it encourages bad and lazy level design. Shouldve put limits on it. Fuck this game
Yeah, it's the "noticeably worse than the 360" tier.
I'm not him, but there's no excuse for a game like this to run poorly. A game that does nothing visually spectacular and demands high specs is a sure sign of a retarded programmer. So what makes it intensive is probably some jank code fucking around in the back.
>not liking ps1 visuals
You must be underage.
it runs consistently 60 fps on my 8-year old machine what the fuck are you talking about
I liked it
Still trying to beat it though.
just find a tier 4 armor set and you become immortal
I like my knight set too much though
also I havent even seen anything past tier 3
game looks decent. doesn't look worth $30. i am also sick of this new trend in video games that dying is appealing. gamers like difficulty but a selling point shouldn't be "you're going to die a lot"
one of the devs clearly said in a post
The "planned" expansions (adds weapons, items, biomes etc.) will only happen if the game is a success so if this fails its your fault and not the devs even though the game lacks a shit load of content. This also means they will abandon this game if it doesn't succeed.
>If it fails ITS YOUR FAULT! not ours
>Still trying to beat it though
How bad are you at video games? This shit is easy mode
Not much of a roguelite if I can beat it on my third attempt.
>the worst element in any souls game was bloodborne's randomised chalice dungeons
>lets do that as a shitty indie rogue-lite shitfest
i cant believe people would put a cent towards this trash.
>i am also sick of this new trend in video games that dying is appealing.
the developers must agree with you because it's impossible to die
>PS1 Visuals
This is what a ps1 game looks like.
this
That's an insult to PS1 games, they looked good compared to this.
>ps1 visuals and attack animations
I wish
But user, games are suppose to be standalone and finished by release.
>procedurally generated shit
no thanks
>PS1 visuals
It's not having a seizure so it can't be the PS1's "3D"
Are you blind? Clearly PS5 tier of garbage
I think it looks great, it's about time we moved away from the oversaturated 2d bullshit and started embracing glorious lo-poly with good textures and art direction.
I actually like the artstyle
Artstyle is amazing
gameplay seems pretty shit, buggy, framedrops, i'll pass until it's atleast polished
Looks like vaporware.
They have to be retarded to spend this long time to make this kind of game
What is it with indie developers and shitty art-styles with no textures?
It's actually just pretending to be amazing. It's a failed attempt at Journey's aesthetic and you're failing for it because your aesthetic education is so poor you can't see the difference between the real deal and the fake wannabe.
You're the kind of person who buys the generic boat paintings you see in road motels in movies.
Why don't the characters have feet?
>heck
I'M TELLING
>30 buckaroonies
There's a 100% off sale at kick ass torrents
How many layers of irony is this on?
None
Can you play MP pirated yet?
What the fuck happened to this? Why did development take so fucking long? It looked amazing, but damn, they lost my hype.
gog doesnt have multiplayer, only steam. so no
>This also means they will abandon this game if it doesn't succeed.
They will also abandon it after they get the money.
>pls buy our game, we'll finish it, WE PLOMISE
looks like shit
It's Jak n Daxter tier graphics desu
nvm, checked out new gameplay, still looks sweet. body is ready, all that.
