First person game

What are some other signs which show that devs actually gave a fuck about their game?

>video game
>play it
>its good

Best signal that the devs cared.

>first person game
>the average retard on Sup Forums looks down
>sees the op pic
>posts on Sup Forums that seeing the feet is shit because it blocks his view

>play game
>it's actually Arx Fatalis
>Arx 2 never

source

There's always Dark Messiah.

it's pretty good but it's not Arx. not even close

play ultima underworld
that's just an action game

>First person game
>look down
>see tits

That's the sign of a PC game.

For me, its attention to details.

Things that you see for barely for a second,or might not even see at all, but you can tell they spent time doing it.

Easter eggs, animations that aren't reused yet not used in scripted cutscenes, the weapon you have equipped is the weapon your character is holding in the cutscenes, etc

>playing sleeping dogs
>driving a car around
>get the car stuck between 2 dumpsters
>both doors are blocked
>press the button to get out of the car
>character smashes the windscreen and climbs out the front

i don't know why but i was in amazement when this happened, i just expected to teleport out or something. it was great to see some proper polish

That was not worth

Kinda like the rats in FEAR

I always knew there was something spooky coming if I saw them running the opposite direction I was heading

the hunt is always the real fun

>Play game
>See legs

>Play sequel
>No legs
>Developers say it's because it allows 5 more enemies on screen

>climb rope
>you see your hand holding on to it

fart out 3 burps that do this

The original working title for Dark Messiah was Arx Fatalis 2

...

>walk into wall
>character pushes against wall

>walk up to wall
>weapon and hands become tiny

yeah cause you'll spend the time looking at your fucking feet than shooting shit, right?

>First-person
>Look down
>See legs and feet
>Switch to third person
>Legs and feet are now in a completely different position

I'm looking at you, GTA.

why doesn't he just stop?

puddi puddi!

>can friendly fire npcs

I was so mad at hl2 for removing this.

That they are still friends and talk with their current/former co-workers about the game they had worked on together.

>Free Radical Design and Timesplitters

out of curiousity, what would it look like if a camera was simply shoved into a models head without any considerations for animations, etc.?

why did they add hair physics? or is that modded in?

Arma does exactly that and it looks pretty good.

Usually way too shaky for enjoyable first person gameplay. You also wouldn't see the things you're holding in your hands without looking down.

Being able to harm friendly npcs is one of my favorite things to do in video games. At least you can play pretend with physics.

I like how Hitman games, which are primarily third person do this

is that an issue? you'd think more people would want that, because "MUH IMMERSHUN!"

It's usually shitty. The way a human perceive their own body isn't identical to just putting a camera in place of their head.

I'm glad Arkane hit their stride with Dishonored, but it's only ever been an OK game for me.

Arx 2 when :(

Pretty sure Mount & Blade does this. It can be a bit odd at times and you miss a lot of details but I like how it feels.

Kind of clippy from what i've seen in Mount and Blade, you have to make adjustments to the animations as they're made to avoid stuff like shields getting right in your face when you block, or helmets clipping in and out of view

/thread

That's pretty neat

>it's heavily clipping every single time

What is wrong with his speech?

I really like first person mode in mountan blade, very helpful in Napoleonic Wars

Clipping is such a horrible thing in games when it happens to things they themselfes purposely made.
Like a climbing animation clipping: they had full control over that section, how did they not notice the clipping and fix it?
Notice that in Zelda and Witcher games shit ON THE FUCKING CHARACTER MODEL will clipp with eachother. This is the ONE THING you are certain to be looking at 100% of the time in a third person game, how in the fuck didn't the developer take the time to make sure it didn't have clipping?
makes my autism twitch

bretty gud.

>no belt across his chest like in the art

RRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

It would just have looked ugly
