Or controllers. Plus we all know the original famicom is the superior design
Wait, seriously? You better just be shit posting because that is the only reason I have to buy the piece of shit.
And then, a week later, somebody uses a controller port adapter to mod that crap and installs homebrew software to play ROMs on it. THE END
look closely, that slot cover is just for show
You already get 30 games or something with it, no need to play some shitty games you have.
Dude are you blind? NES carts are BIGGER then the box, how are you supposed to run them?
FUCK.
And the controller ports are just Wii controller ports.
FUCK FUCK.
Well, guess it's back to replacing the receiver pins in my old NES
WAAAAAAAAIIIIT
If america is getting a Mini NES....
Does this mean japan is getting a mini Fami?
>the Sega Genesis rerelease can play carts
SEGA STILL DOES WHAT NINTENDONT
japs arent as retarded
The obligatory oh wow now I'm not buying it post
Can't delete threads
BEHOLD!
The original mini-console!
Dropped
I still really want one.
>looks like cheap plastic shit, even for plug-n-play standards
>is a retro plug-n-play system with no analog video support (expect lag)
>doesn't use actual NES controller ports
>has no way of adding games to it, what you get is what you'll have
>is powered via USB
>60 dollars
>10 dollars more for a second controller
WEW LAD, people will still buy this and say it's good. fucking kill me.
mods can
You attach a cable adapter on the NES cart, it never needs to be inside the box as long as data moves through cable. How stupid do you have to be? There's a port for it behind
Of course it wouldn't play carts.
Not being able to use the original controller or at least any USB controller is a bit shit though.
>Expect lag
Its nintendo hardware, they don't NEED an emulator. This isnt a retron 5 we're talking about where it dumps data. this is the same tech as the VC.
You wish.
why would anyone buy this? Most these games are on virtual console probably.
>Buy 30 $5 games for $150
>or Buy 30 games all in one for $60
HMMM...
bigger question is why would anyone pay for abandonware old games? I don't pay for my dos games, so why should people pay for old console games? Are people seriously this retarded? None of that money goes into making MORE of those GOOD games. You basically feeding the big execs that are ruining the industry in general, guys with stockbroker mentality.
No way in hell they would let you use old carts.
-The people who will buy this wont want to fork over 100 bucks per game to human garbage on craigslist and ebay.
-Nintendo themselves wont be getting back into selling carts anytime soon
-It competes directly with VC so theres no way they will try to push it as a legitimate supported platform
Why would you expect them to release their own IPs for free? They're a company, not a charity.
YOu're telling me if you had 10 year old games that you made, and people blindly worshipped them, you'd just give them out out of the goodness of your heart? Bullshit. You'd milk them out of every dollar because you could. You can preach this stuff as long as you're unaffected, but when push comes to shove, you'd do the exact same thing and think nothing of it.
>-Nintendo themselves wont be getting back into selling carts anytime soon
Um... 3DS?
>10 yo game
>implying nes and snes games are 10 yo
>implying I don't have hard time convincing myself to pay for 10 yo PC game on steam
>yet alone games that are older than my DOS abandonware
Or you could be smart and just emulate them and every other NES game for free.
>Its nintendo hardware, they don't NEED an emulator.
it is still emulation though, it is not using NES hardware.
>this is the same tech as the VC.
which, depending on who you ask, was still shit. And judging from the size and price i expect it to be worse than wii/wiiu VC emulation.
At least on the wii they gave you the option run it through an analog output at 240p so you could minimize that overall lag. this is going to be weaker or as weak hardware as the wii with only HDMI output. So if you're planning on playing this on anything other than a pay $0 and run the entire library on a toaster via HDMI output on a laptop and get the same/better results.
HMMMMMMMMMM........
Duuuuuuuuuude! That would kill the industry! The creative minds need their bread too!
>Piracy and breaking the law is okay because it doesn't cost me anything!
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM............
Piracy is actually good for consumers. If you haven't noticed, the gaming industry has been full of big "sharks" who eat the small devs / studios with buyouts / layoffs and bad contracts. The less money you give to these corporate elite stockbroker kind of guys (not the same electronic arts people on early 90s), the longer you keep the current bubble afloat. The sooner this shit collapses the sooner the real gamers get to see some real games again, and not these "press F to perform X animation" or "rendering limited to 7 enemies on screen". Like seriously this shit triggers me so hard, when I see not even Crysis 1 (or BF2) has been surpassed in terms of online gameplay.
>Piracy and breaking the law is okay because it means lesser devs will have their spotlights again, even though it is still PIRACY. AND BREAKING THE LAW.
Outcome doesnt matter. You're still comiting a crime and a criminal act. Don't try to justify it.
>NES emulation
>Piracy and breaking the law
you're beyond worth convincing, enjoy your nintendo cock.
I bet you buy music too, fag.
Even Bethesda has free download links for arena and daggerfall.
Yes because I buy physical soundtracks and viynl. I don't believe in paying computer money and never will.
NES carts, you retard.
Laws are made only for commoners. The big entities go through loopholes, which technically means they're not breaking the laws but in actuality they're doing something bad either to the market or society.
Actually, I might pick up that controller since its being sold separately. Apparently it's designed to plug into a Wii controller, meaning I could play VC games with it.
>nintendorks are actually defending this
This is the lowest of the low
>nesconsole.com
Thanks. reporting this oversight to nintendo right now. They'll see this site shut down for good.
Considering that finding a used but working famicom is a matter of hitting up Akibahara for 20 minutes and MAYBE spending roughly around $20, I'm going to say no.
>I never played a NES nor I know its catalogue since I'm 20 year old
>it doesn't play carts!
Of course it fucking doesn't you chimps. Even if the thing wasn't tiny, you expect Nintendo to open that pandora's box and establish some sort of customer service/repairs for twenty year old games? Come the fuck on.
If I learned anything from watching AVGN, its that all NES games are shitty buffalo poop and frustrating and not worth anyones time
>supporting company that doesn't care for its fanbase
>supporting company that's greedy
>not buying indie games on steam
But what about that sound emulation and cheap AV cables only?
soundracks only?
Which is why they lost the only real war they ever fought in to Americans. Get fucked, weeb.
Why would you listen to vinyl? wtf is wrong with you. There's spotify and internet radios to listen, why would you listen to CD, or worse vinyl?
the fucking grey logo though
why wont they use red
CD is the best physical music format
My boss just told me he's buying one the day it comes out. It's for that generation who want to have a nostalgia-gasm before going back to their mediocre lives.
I don't gotta justify it. I'm still gonna do it, fag. Try and stop me.
>wired controllers
Why?
Kill yourself.
It's actually not that bad. What's criminal is the fact that there's only 30 games. You can't seriously tell me with modern-day technology and the average size of NES games that you could fit the entire fucking NES library in that machine.
That's some juicy fucking b8 user
But how would they sell the Mini-NES 2 :^)
Good. at least you';re the only man in this thread who doesn't hide behind his actions.
Ashamed at the rest of you though.
The worst part is that they'll underproduce because they underproduce everything. So it'll be a cash grab that fails at grabbing any cash.
Maybe theres some licensing issues? Maybe they'll sell you the rest through the internet? I'd rather they release the old hardware so it doesn't use any emulation, but normies will eat this shit up.
CD too has been replaced by SD memory / USB sticks, you can rewrite those whilst a CD-RW is hassle.
Liscensing. Nintendo doesn't own the rights to re-distribute games made by other companies, only their own. Most of said companies have gone under in 20 years, and things like bomberman wont be a thing because of hudson/konami.
They probably got Capcom and Namco on board since they're all buddy buddy.
I can understand the fact that there would be licensing difficulties, but even so, it really shouldn't be too hard to get at least 100 games on it, which is more than enough any nostalgiafag would realistically want for something like this.
What isn't on that list that isnt owned by Konami/Sega/Square or western production companies that you'd want?
>Nintendo still selling old games
>abandonware
What do you think that word means?
>Galaga
I will buy this thing for nothing else but Galaga.
Tha game was my growing up game, I used to have a hair stylist who had an arcade machine in their lobby, and it was Mrs. Pac-man and Galaga, and I got to play it every time I went.
Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain
>J only releases
YOu fail to understand the point of this, its not a mini Famicom, its a mini NES. NOBODY who buys this thing is going to go "Man, where the fuck is Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain?" More likely they'd go "Man What the fuck isTokkyuu Shirei Solbrain? Wheres all the Disney and sports games I grew up with?"
>it really shouldn't be too hard to get at least 100 games on it
For you who only has to sit on his comfy ass and watch it happen it sure ain't.
Unless you have some actual data to back up your claim, that is.
OK, Shatterhand, literally the same game.
I literally would only own an NES for Zelda, Metroid, Icarus and Vania, so this i perfect for me.
Jaleco went under in 2003. Nobody left to approve of it. Natsume doesn't own the rights.
>no mr.gimmick
So close
They're selling games they have license for. They are selling games that are older than DOS games, and most DOS games don't sell anymore.
The games are older than PC abandonware, not worth paying for games THAT old. The money is not going for the devs at this point, and it certainly is not going to fundraiser for "making those same games in current year". You're basically paying someone because they have suits protecting something that would normally be free at this point. An entity / machine / big industry that's not good from gamers point of view.
NES galaga is worse than the arcade version though. you'd be better off just trying to hunt down a cabinet.
But user, the entire product is a gimmick.
At the same time, as someone who grew up with this shit and wants to start collecting it, all this attention that's currently being paid to retro gaming because it's "trendy" might benefit us in the long run.
I was at a local mom and pop shop recently, and so many of the NES and SNES cartridges they had were sun/smoke damaged, or had markings, or had shitty labels. The NES and SNES being sold were in horrible disrepair. Little stunts like this one that keep the interest in retro gaming alive might artificially inflate the prices of those units that are in fine shape, but it also might start getting some more nerds working to preserve them. We could start seeing more clone systems/controllers on the market, or at least completely refurbished systems with relabeled games in new print and the like. I'm all for that.
buying one for my wife's son
Buy one for her bull too.
>and things like bomberman wont be a thing because of hudson/konami.
They have some Castlevania games in this thing, though.
Because CDs are universally mastered poorly. Pic related is vinyl vs. CD.
CV and 2 are owned exclusively by Nintendo. Why do you think theres never been remakes?
it really depends on whos mastering it
>CV and 2 are owned exclusively by Nintendo.
Are they?
Japs are still playing on their famicons though
I wouldn't bother trying to explain that here, even Sup Forums think FLAC is a meme.
...
>normies
>playing previous gen games
user...
>arcade machines next to playhouse
imagine how abused those things must get from little cunt kids.
>New Adventure Island just released on Wii U E-shop today, alongside R-Type and Bonk's Adventure
HOPE
It wouldn't be as tiny and cute if it could fit those shitty old cartridges that don't even work
>Startropics is one of the thirty games
Holy fuck
I was so excited for this until I realized my raspberry pi is hooked up to my tv, is half the size, I have a USB NES controller and over 2,000 roms on it.
