All I know about it is that it is very similar to TF2, very popular, and that Sup Forums complains about bad tick rates. Also tracer butt.

1, the characters have funky legs, and their hips like rotate 90 degrees to very weird walking angles. Anyone playing it for porn has bad taste.
2. The abilities on some characters vary from fun to pointless, with no consistently. Ie, shift is the sprint button on soldier 76. Shift on hanzo is tracking arrow or some shit.
3. It's not fun, plays slow, and tries to give everyone "feel good" points. Ie, no kills or assists, just eliminations. You can't see your team mates death and shit, no score board
Really it's perfect for casuals and normies, ie Sup Forums because it is some bottom of the barrel shit.

the "LoL FPS" label is accurate not because this has anything to do with DotA, but because like LoL, there is only a correct way to play OW. You can only be playing OW. Trying to not play OW, in OW, will probably get you banned. The game just falls apart unless you play along with the script anyway. Its not like TF2 where maybe you just jump on an MG Soldier and have fun and the rest of the server is fine with it, you have to play 6s in "somewhat serious mode" even in quickplay (casual games with no meaning). there are no bid dumb fun servers, no different modes, no mods, no different loadouts, etc.
but anyway as OW, its ok, as long as you want OW out of it and nothing else. the actual FPS mechanics are very poor with babby console networking and hitboxes. The game is simply being in a 4-6 man blob of HP and healing rolling through the middle of the mao, unless you are one of the 1-2 skirmishes that has almost meaningless 1v1 fights with the opponent skirmisher on flanks instead.

It's a casual game you can play for fun. Competitive isn't competitive because that isn't the nature of the game. Competitive is just people having fun that actually want to work together and win. If you want a good time and don't mind the game being shit go for it.
Here is the major difference in my eyes between this game and other "e-sports": The fun aspects are competitive instead of it's competitive aspects being fun.

I played TF2 for about 800 hours, I stopped playing OW after 30.
There aren't many maps (fucking worst part), lack of custom servers sucks, you'll always be playing with randoms who you'll never meet again so don't expect to make new friends, all of the non-KOTH maps seem to have one big corridor before final section turning it into a massive chokepoint.
Certain team combinations just make it a massive chore and not fun even if you win. I had more fun getting BTFO by sentries on Dustbowl.
Overwatch was a 10/10 until Competitive came out.
Now it's about a 7.9/10
No custom server support like tf2. Ie, no modding community. Shit.

i had thousands of hours in tf2 but stopped playing in 2011. i came back to it at the start of this year due to muselk's videos and i'm having a great time with it. i was hyped for overwatch so preordered it but after about two weeks of playing it at launch i haven't gone back since. the game lacks depth and good map design. also poor variety in terms of playstyles and maps. definitely not worth the money i paid for it.

I've played TF2 """""competitively"""""" in UGC Plat and ESEA IM and I frankly got really frustrated at the lack of advanced movement options in OW. That's something you never really notice until you don't have it anymore.
And also in OW it's difficult to do well individually as a player because you have to rely on your team much more to get anything done.
I only really enjoy the game when I play with my friends because it's frustrating individually, you may enjoy it but it's kind of a toss up.
There is nothing Overwatch does that TF2 doesn't already do better.

As someone who plays a lot of tf2, it's not that great. It's only fun when you play with friends. In tf2 your team can do shit but still have fun, in overwatch it's not that fun when your team sucks. If you buy it, you will most likely not log hat many hours into the game as tf2 unless blizzard does something about their game. It's only great for 1-2 months then it gets stale from the repetitive maps whereas in tf2 there's a shitton of maps you can play.
If you aren't a blizzdrone, you'll get bored of the game fairly quickly. I bought it on release and I was done with the game within a week. I haven't gone back to it since.

If Valve could count to 3, this would be TF3 with out gore or the gratification of getting a frag. Literally you can get a 5 killstreak going if you just shoot the enemy player and not kill him. The kill system is set up akwardly where it's done on who has done the most amount off damage instead of the final blow. It holds your hand.

This is one of the more irrefutable complaints about the game, and something I always try to communicate to people when recommending them the game, but it's also half the reason I like the game. It's focused purely on the core 6v6 gameplay and does it well, and isn't a game where you get distracted and play a game within a game. If I get bored of OW, I'll just stop playing OW instead of goofing off ingame, and that's frankly how it should be.

Seriously, don't do it. At least not yet. The game is so incredibly barebones with 3 game modes that you have already played to death in tf2. The only draw to this game are the skills, which ultimately imbalance the game to holy hell. Individual skill counts for so much less in this game than in other team shooters and the forced matchmaking just exacerbates this problem.
This comes from a guy who got shilled into buying it by friends.

This. Overwatch is a team game, and thus it rewards team plays that get kills. Otherwise you'd get what happens in most other FPSs where kids will get mad over their KDRs and kill stealing. The focus of OW is the objective. It's winning the match, not racking up a high kill count.

ive played thousands of hours of TF2 and CSGO, this is by far the most fun I have had playing a Non-military like shooter. Some people sucks with characters, some are freaking amazing, iv'e seen healing classes rack up kills and do cool stunts with lucio. it takes skill to git gud, but normies can still enjoy it because of the casual games you can choose to play, or the ranked for people who want more comp.

It's kinda boring after investing 100+ hours into it. Few maps, predictable shit. I have over 2k hours in TF2 so makes sense.
I think what the game could really use is some maps which are akin to TF2 KOTH games where most of the round is spent just killing each other but there is still an objective. The timers need to be longer on points I feel, to cap them at least, or longer games in general, but of course as an option because its nice to have the short and satisfying games as well.
Just my opinion, it's a solid game in my view and is fine as it is, 'objectively'.

bought ow during open beta. Havent touched it since i calibrated at 60 something in competitive, been playing tf2 instead. After few days of playing ow started feeling like a chore instead of a fun game, also it has too many hitscan weapons, the ones that arent hitscan are huge hitbox projectiles that will hit you if they land withing 1m of your own hitbox. The game is huge fail from technical standpoint, starting from netcode and ending with how it processes input ( some autist measured ~60ms input lag in overwatch in best possible scenario on unreal hardware vs ~20ms input lag in csgo on shitty toasters ). Its fine on consoles i guess but i heard its just all about stacking torbjorns.

The game is 5/10 without friends and 8/10 with them. I can say I'm still having a blast like early tf2 days, but due to its 6x6 nature, it makes me much more stressed when I lose.
